I was able to drive 9 days later. I didn't have any abdominal pain and felt normal (like nothing ever happened) in 2 days. -

I suggest you add this as a possibility... Mexico isn't the only choice. "60 Minutes" did a special on Medical Tourism, specifically havng surgery in Bankok Thailand at Bumrungrad Hospital. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzsXNCwgfuM (one eighth the cost of U.S. ?) -
Does your insurance cover bariatric surgery? If so, what are their requirements for various BMIs? Maybe they will pay for all of it!

I suggest you try the Lindstroms. They have helped many who have been previously denied, get approved: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/321485-approved-after-2-denials/?hl=%2Blindstrom -
Your favorite foods may not appeal to you anymore after surgery. It's just different. Further down the road, it might be helpful to check books that help with the mental aspect of all this. My fave was "Emotional First + Aid" by Cynthia Alexander.

Protein...You're making me sick.
BeagleLover replied to NotWishWhen512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After 9 days, my surgeon told me I could eat anything I could tolerate, just chew very well. To the folks that hate their shakes, the ones by unjury & Syntrax nectar I found to be pretty good. I also heard good things about MuscleGen Genepro; it is recommended by Johns Hopkins. . -

One book in particular helped me. During the 6 month wait for my surgery, I found myself losing weight without even trying, which is way different for me. Emotional First + Aid ... by Cynthia Alexander (the bariatric one) -
I suggest going to the hospital that is Bariatric Center of Excellence. They tend to have better outcome statistics. Some insurance companies require you to go to these hospitals. First, does your insurance plan cover bariatric surgery? If so, most require either a 3- or 6-month attendance at nutritional meetings. You have to be careful here, if you miss one, you may have to start over. I attended an informational seminar in which the surgeon talked about the various kinds of surgery. Then I called the hospital and set up an appointment for my initial surgeon's visit. I had gastric sleeve surgery on Sept. 26th, mainly because there were less problems afterwards than the lap band and didn't require major re-routing of my insides with the gastric bypass. But you need to hear the differences and make up your own mind, or the surgeon may recommend one in particular. Why wait the year when you could be on your way so much sooner?

To be honest, I can't directly answer your question. I just hope you are seeing a cardiac specialist. My friend just had a pacemaker installed. She will have gastric sleeve surgery in November. I think the pacemaker will remove a lot of risk from her surgery due to the heart problems... just a thought.

Dealing with food addiction POST SURGERY

@@nikkydizzle, SO happy to hear that you are on your way to healthy-- physically and mentally!!! -
Most people have a "stall" at about that time post-op. Just keep following the program and your weight loss will pick back up again.

I don't know if this is the reason or not, but did the surgeon prescribe a medication to minimize the stomach acid, i.e., Protonix? Best to call though.

soft scrambled eggs + corned beef hash with ketchup -
@@NikkiRX, if I were in your shoes, I would go to my primary doctor and try to get the sonogram done to confirm it (if necessary). Then I would bring back the picture/report to the surgeon and ask if it's possible for it to be taken out at the same time. Best wishes!

I was sleeved Sept. 26th. I had a BMI of 37. My surgeon said the sleep apnea would be gone in 3 - 4months. I used to have a CPAP machine which I hated. I now use a mouth appliance. I suggest you check them out.

Vomiting after surgery?
BeagleLover replied to jenmc2404's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did about 3 times which is normal for my coming out of anesthesia. The doctor can give you medicine to minimize or eliminate it. I haven't had one bout since surgery day. -
Feeling so discouraged
BeagleLover replied to tkwyant's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved Sept. 26th. I don't have chronic diarrhea. I did have Type 2 diabetes (for 4 years), sleep apnea and non-alcoholic fatty liver. My diabetes was gone in 2 days (my doctor estimated 3 - 4 days). The sleep apnea and fatty liver will take 3 - 4 months to go away. The diabetes being gone takes a big load off my shoulders! -
Update: I was sleeved Sept. 26th. The doctor told me the fatty liver and sleep apnea will take 3 - 4 months to go away.

Taking gallbladder out during sleeve surgery?
BeagleLover replied to Rubygirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had one gall bladder attack and I was given a sonogram which showed them all. If you had the test, I imagine it would be covered by insurance. -
Do you make a shopping list?
BeagleLover replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I keep a list on my phone that I add to as I run out or need stuff. I move it forward day to day until I actually do the shopping.
