    Confused

I don't understand why you'd want to get this if it hasn't been around for a long time. The sleeve is very safe, without a lot of surgical connections/re-routing. I was sleeved on Sept. 26th. My diabetes was gone in 2 days! The other co-morbidities, sleep apnea & non-alcoholic fatty liver will go away in 3 - 4 months.

    Depression

If you think this might be a physical side effect, you might want to call your surgeon. Best wishes!

    Depression

I think therapy would help a lot!
  4. I suggest looking at the blog, The World According to Eggface. There are loads of Protein packed Snacks. I think the protein will lessen your hunger.
  5. I was allowed to shower-- no problem.

    Your choice.

I have the same co-morbidities. I was sleeved Sept. 26th at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The doctor said my diabetes would go away in 3 - 4 days. It went away in 2! He said the sleep apnea and non-alcoholic fatty liver would go away in 3 - 4 months. I never wanted my insides re-routed or the dumping you get because of the removal of the pyloric valve with bypass. I also didn't want the higher level of aftercare necessary to make sure I didn't develop Vitamin or mineral deficiencies. I was sleeved on a Friday morning. By Sunday morning I felt as though no surgery had happened! VERY happy I chose the sleeve.
  7. Wow! You look SO fit! It boggles my mind that you did this after one year!

    Losing focus

I suggest going for therapy. That's a lot to handle. Losing your Mom is just awful!

Got any recipes for frozen protein pops?

I suggest looking at the blog, "The World According to Eggface."

    PB 2

I got mine at Target. I believe Vitamin Shoppe also has it, but I would call ahead of time before taking the trip.

    What happens after 46th

After the sleeve, I found that my tastes had changed. Basically, you stick to the rules your NUT gave you: Eat Protein first, then veggies. IF you have more room, it's OK to have carbs. Don't drink within an hour before or after a meal. Not a good idea to drink alcohol.

    Pre-op diet

First, that person is no friend. I used unjury vanilla and chocolate + different flavored sugar free syrups and malted milk powder to change them. Fill in with sugar free puddings (also used the flavorings) and Jello, bouillon + spices. I kept a spreadsheet to make sure I got at least 60 grams of Protein and didn't go over the 1100 calories.
  17. I never received any particular instruction as to exercise, although I was doing some. The important thing is to keep the carbs down to their recommended level so your liver will shrink. I kept a spreadsheet with the number of Protein grams and carbs. I never used the Protein Bars, but would definitely be aware of and log the number of carb grams so you don't go over.

    8 day away

    Good for you! Best wishes!
  19. 100% Protein isolate is best because it is the one most absorbable. unjury and Syntrax nectar are very good and don't taste like medicine to me. I thought Trader Joe's vanilla would be good because I like their other foods. Wrong! Can't stand it. Another good one, recommended by Johns Hopkins is GENEPRO. I've heard it tastes very good, but haven't tried it yet.

QUESTIONS TO ALL THE POST OPERATION SLEEVER'S

My sleeve surgeon was Dr. Brebbia, Medstar Montgomery Hospital in Olney, Maryland. I don't know the exact percentage of stomach removed. My understanding is that, in general, around 85% is removed. I was just sleeved a few weeks ago, so can't answer the long term question. However, my surgeon said I needed clear fluids for the 2 or 3 days after surgery. It's hard to get much down then, so I had stocked up on a few bottles of Isopure clear flavors. A large bottle has 40 grams of Protein. I'm not sure having protein right after will help with the hair loss, but I figure there would be no huge drop off in the amount of protein I'm taking in, so no shock resulting in hair loss. I get all my Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage: 1 Calcium citrate caramel-flavored cube in the morning, 1 Ultra Multi Formula with Iron in the middle of the day, then another calcium citrate in the evening. That way, the calcium and iron won't negate each other... they will always be more than 2 hours apart.

    Getting sleeved next week 10/22/14

No catheter was used in my sleeve surgery. I don't understand why you would need one. You're supposed to get up and walk as soon as possible after surgery, so why couldn't you use the bathroom? I would definitely question them on this since it's so important to you.

I just bought some resistance bands.....

    I got mine on Ebay.
  24. @@sonjajade, I suggest going to a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Some insurance companies require people to go to these because the outcomes are better in general.
