    Post-op pain

I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights and received morphine in the IV. After that, I didn't have any post-op pain. I got the prescription filled, but didn't need to use any.
  2. This book helped me: Emotional First + Aid Kit (bariatric surgery) by Cynthia Alexander Also, the new psychiatrist's D.S.M. manual has a category now for binge eating. There is medication that might help.
  3. low fat corned beef hash + lots of ketchup.
  4. I was sleeved on Sept. 26th. My surgeon prescribed Protonix for 1st thing in the morning to minimize the amount of stomach acid produced. That helps the stomach heal quicker.

    Pain meds after plastics

The nurse gave me these gigunda pills for pain meds. I told her I would not be able to get them down-- they were too big. I asked for pain meds to be put into my IV. Worked out great. I suggest clearing that with the surgeon before your surgery to write the orders to have the pain meds in the IV.

Constant UTI's 10 months post op!

IF you aren't doing this already, eat VERY small bites and wait between each bite. I think you should call your surgeon and get a referral to a good urologist.

    Feeling nauseous constantly

I think you should call your surgeon. They can give you meds to suppress nausea.
  17. @@Trillium, it depends on your insurance. First, is bariatric surgery covered? What are their BMI criteria? For a BMI of 35 or over, do they require one or two co-morbidities before they will approve? What co-morbidities are on their list that count for bariatric surgery?
  18. No, but they will not approve you for surgery if you dip below 35 (with co-morbities) or 40 without.
  19. I was sleeved Sept. 26th. Mine look similar. I had bruising too.... not a big deal.
  20. I think you need to call the surgeon.
  21. Update: I was sleeved by Dr. Brebbia on Sept. 26th (Friday morning). By Sunday morning I wondered if I had had surgery at all! When I read the surgery report they sent right after surgery, I discovered that he removed the gas used during the surgery, so I had no post-op gas pains at all. He is fantastic!
  22. I think you should call your surgeon.
  23. I don't think luck has anything to do with it. When I read over the final report of my surgery, it indicated that the doctor removed the gas before finishing the surgery.
  24. I agree with @@built2livenotexist on doing the pre-op diet with moderate exercise, like swimming. For my pre-op, I was allowed 1/2c. oatmeal in the morning. The rest was Protein shakes (to = 60 grams) and up to 1100 calories per day. I found them so satisfying, I actually had 615 - 750 calories per day instead. I had to do the pre-op diet for 9 days. I lost 4lbs. Having said that, I also agree with @@TheCurvyJones to get agreement from your doctor ahead of time to put your paperwork in. I also don't like what your doctor is doing. I would like to see you put your foot down, that you are NOT waiting until January.
