Feeding Your Family while you can't eat?
BeagleLover replied to Malibucruzer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't find it hard at all. I cook nutritious meals, low fat, and high flavor (have lots of spices). I cook the carbs separately so everyone else can add them to their plates based on their appetites. I might have a teeny amount, but the drive to eat the carbs is gone. Easy peezy. -
muscle building exercises
BeagleLover replied to cprince's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Get a weight bench and free weights, along with some dumbbells + an exercise bike. Another option is using flex bands. You don't need to take time to travel to a gym or pay for a membership. -
If it doesn't resolve itself with weight loss, I suggest that you see a urologist.

Should I?..Do I have to?
BeagleLover replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is a lot of money under the circumstances you've described. I went to a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The surgeon wrote out a list of the labs I'll need at 6 months and a year. I do think it's important to find out if you have any Vitamin deficiencies, or other potential problems. I think you'd be covering yourself health wise if you had your primary care doctor do these labs at those intervals: CBC Comprehensive Metabolic Profile Vitamin B12 Folate Whole Blood Thiamine Vitamin D That way you're still under a doctor's care, getting what's important done without paying unnecessarily for a specialist. If something's out of whack, you can still go to back to the surgeon. -
@@bobbyswife, you'll need it afterwards too... you may want to get it.

WLS Revisions?
BeagleLover replied to betche23's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I think you need to revisit what led the gastric bypass to be a failure in the 1st place. The tool you've received is still there, giving you both restriction and malabsorption. In my opinion, you shouldn't consider any additional surgery. -
Don't forget chapstick.

Best Place for Buying Protein Powder Online
BeagleLover replied to Disney_Girl36's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've tried Syntrax nectar which has good taste reviews. I didn't care for it--- thought it was too sweet. My favorite is unjury, which is available online from the company that makes it. -

Peanut butter, can anyone recommend a good brand?
BeagleLover replied to Homecie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Just in case you haven't heard about it there is a product called PB2, powdered Peanut Butter, which I use in my shakes. It has 85% less fat. -
It depends on the doctor; I would ask. I was told I could eat anything I could tolerate after a week. I never did purees, just chewed very well (same thing).

@@scootie, since you can eat dairy, I suggest you get a lot of Protein from FAGE plain Greek yogurt + whatever you want to add to it. I was surprised about how much protein was in it.

It could be that folks that have a BMI between 35 & 40 have to have documented evidence of co-morbidities in order to get approved for insurance payment. If your BMI is over 40, you don't have to do that.
