Type 2 Diabetic Sleevers Post-Op
BeagleLover replied to TiaMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@TiaMarie, How are you doing? I imagine you're on the pre-op diet... your surgery is pretty soon! -
BP, Cholesterol, Blood sugars etc not just weight loss and size
BeagleLover replied to Jugido64's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I did. I had sleep apnea, diabetes (for 4 years) fatty liver and high cholesterol. My doctor said that my excess weight would take 10 years off my life. I remember how awful it was when my Mom & Dad died, and that my kids would be going through that 10 years longer than necessary. Also, I found a scientific study that said that, if you've had diabetes for 4 years or less, you'd be more likely to get rid of it for good. My diabetes went away after 2 days. My sleep apnea is over with. I haven't had my blood work yet, so I can't say whether or not the fatty liver or high cholesterol has disappeared. I was told it would take 3 - 4 months. I find it much easier to move around and exercise. The best thing for me though is the peace of mind, knowing that the weight is gone and not going to yo-yo back, and that I'm making myself as healthy as possible for my family. -
Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
BeagleLover replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
"Oh, you have a neck now!" UGH -
I haven't tried this, but it sounds good! There are Protein ice cream recipes in the blog, "The World According to Eggface." Have fun!

No, I haven't had any post-op pain. I suggest you call your surgeon.

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...
BeagleLover replied to JerseyJules's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on Sept. 26th. I eat around 2 - 2 1/2oz. meat and a very small amount of veggies for my meal, unless I'm having a Protein shake. I don't have any desire to eat any more. I can only speak for myself, but I don't really have big cravings. I feel fine so long as I eat very small pieces and take awhile to finish. Then I wait at least a half hour before I have something to drink. I never have thrown up. I don't eat pizza because of all the carbs in the crust. Don't crave it though, so it's all OK. I eat to live rather than live to eat. I would say that's the major difference. -
You look SO much better and healthier!

Tips, prayers and positive vibes! Getting sleeved tomorrow!
BeagleLover replied to Big_Mama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My suggestions aren't exactly what stuff to bring, but to make your time after surgery more comfortable. I suggest that, before the surgery, tell the doctor you would like to get pain meds through your IV. I remember nurses bringing these very large pills and knew it would be very hard to get them down my throat. Also, tell the dr. that you want the air pumped in to do the surgery removed before they close you up so you don't get gas pains. I had my surgery on a Friday morning, by Sunday morning I felt almost as though nothing had happened! Everyone is different. -

Powdered protein suggestions?
BeagleLover replied to ShannonbKSU's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
unjury Protein is 100% protein isolate and tastes good. I mix it in a blender with some of Costco's bag of frozen blueberries, blackberries, raspberry mix. Then strain out the seeds. -
Nervous to eat again...
BeagleLover replied to wlsdivanyc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No, just follow your NUT's advice and eat more slowly than you think you need to. Take a little rest between bites. -
Dinner Frustration
BeagleLover replied to vincereautmori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you look at menus online before choosing a place to make sure they have clean choices. Whatever you don't eat, no problem, take them home for extra meals. -

Massive Headache , could I be dehydrated?
BeagleLover replied to Stevehud's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't want to scare you unnecessarily. I did see a medical documentary about brain aneurysms. They get a sudden very painful "thunderclap" headache-- that was the indicator that it was very serious. I would like to see you go to the ER. -
What excuse to tell your work for medical leave?
BeagleLover replied to peacheeie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ask HR what their procedure is. Where I used to work, ONE person in HR received the info and doctor's note saying it was medically necessary. That kept the medical info private, which it should be. One of the bosses in my department wanted the information. I said, "Absolutely NOT. We have procedures for documenting medical necessity, yet preserve individual privacy. I am following those procedures." That was the end of it... didn't say boo S_ _ T about it anymore. -
Sleep apnea and snoring
BeagleLover replied to delightfulness's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that my sleep apnea would most likely disappear 3 - 4 months out from surgery. Another benefit! -
Does anyone actually like their protein drink?
BeagleLover replied to AvaFern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
unjury chocolate Splendor + malted milk powder. Their vanilla is good too, especially with DaVinci Crème Brulee sugarless flavoring. -
