Sorry for your troubles- Think of this as a chapter in your book- you worked to find answers, and nobody can say you didn't put work into your weightloss and took the easy way out!! I started looking into the sleeve probably about 16months ago- the job I did work at, the employer had it written into the insurance policy that weightloss surgery would not be covered. I was looking into self pay, and had several options in Nebraska- that had great payment plans one even no interest if I put like 2,000 down. There was a way and I was going to find out how I was going to have surgery- After 9 years at my old job, I switched companies that I worked for- Started looking again into surgery. This time it is a covered procedure, but the twist is I have to be a employee for a year. So instead of waiting for my year- I am doing all my pre stuff now- I have my sleep study on Monday. As soon as July 30, 2014 rolls around my Surgery office will send in paper work to UHC choice plan. So keep figuring out ways!! You can do it!

    NEBRASKA!

I had all 3 of my kids there( my doctor hated that deliveries moved to East because he thought Moms got the best care there) staff has always been so caring- I used to work there ( like 15 years ago) but it's my favorite hospital in Lincoln- My surgery will be done there as well-

    Protien only?

My surgery has to be after July 30th, cause my work has that I have to be at my job a year before I can have short term disability and also get VSG covered- so I'm doing all the things ahead of time , so when July 30th rolls around I just am waiting for the surgery date- Trying to figure out what weight I will be close to at Christmas , it's fun to have the hope and excitement that something might FINALY work. My husband really hasn't said much about the surgery- it's like after almost 25 years of marriage it doesn't faze him - I've been on so many diets !! He shares in cooking, so he laughed and said- just tell me when to get out the food scale- I told him that this time it will just be measuring cups for a long time then the food scale!

    NEBRASKA!

I think they have a great office - no worries there, but I used to supervise Dr Fitzke (at a lab like 29 years ago-) that is a surgeon in that practice, and his nurse practitioner is a baseball mom, our sons play on the same team- I just would be nervous that I would run into them at one of my appointments, so I didn't even consider that office- but I think they have a great reputation!

Unmc - I didn't want to be a patient on a bad surgical day from some soon to be Doctor that maybe has been up studying the procedure all night !! Lol I did look into Council Bluffs weight loss surgery center- At that point, I didn't know if I had insurance coverage for weight loss- they wanted 20, 000 up front!! Uh, no thanks

I've worked in the medical field for almost 25 years- too many people I know work in or with dr Hung - I don't feel like I could relax enough to trust the confidentiality - That's the beauty- go with the comfort level that you feel - cause it's not a one time appointment- you will be dealing with them for a ling time to come- It's nice to gain support on here and find out what works for others!!

    NEBRASKA!

You should go and listen to Dr Forse at Lifepoint- He's great and his staff is fantastic- I can't get approved until after July 30, and they are working with me to get everything done and scheduled so it's a go and all they need to do is file it on July 30. He taught the procedure at Stanford - and had tons of published documents and articles in the medical journals-

    NEBRASKA!

I'm just for the sleeve- it is rare that a band lasts 10 years- I want my sleeve because it's a forever choice. If I'm going to have repeated surgeries down the road-- my extra money on going from band to sleeve will be spent on a tummy tick;) You can be pregnant and have a sleeve-- Everyone has their choice to learn about and know what is best for them- Do what YOU want- Just like naming your baby- if you tell people ahead of time what the name is- you get comments- like people think you need their approval- once the kids named - they don't give their opinion- right now your mom might think you are asking opinion - when it's support for your decision -

I live in Nebraska. My ins plan and a work policy is that to use leave time like short term disability / that I have to be at my work a year first/ in the ins plan for VSG surgery I have to be here a year as well- So I am doing all the stuff, so the surgeons office can fax in a letter on that date for approval.
