Everything went well. Took a whole hour just to clear scar tissue. Had massive Nausea for a few hours but doing great now. Walking every hour- no gas issues!!! Several others who are here are not doing as we'll- they won't get up and walk.. Do what dr says- they know what they are doing!! -

I know! CRAZY!!!! Cant wait - I am soooo ready! -
I totally agree that the biggest factor is appearance! I have never had a self esteem issue really - I get compliments all the time because I take care of myself and make sure my clothes are nice, my hair is done, nails done and so on. I do have a few health issues but they are under control with medication. I am doing this so I feel better on the outside! I am tired of having to hunt for clothes that dont come with a huge flower all over them - or have no style what so ever. I want to be able to go into any store and shop - not just the fat girl stores! I want to wear sundresses again! I want to feel sexy and be able to buy something from victoria secrets and rock it! I want to be able to buy nice bras - not the ones with 50 hooks and an underwire that I end up cutting out because it hits me in the side of my boobs!

I guess I am a big mouth cause I told/tell everybody! lol. I could care less what other people think - if they think I am taking the "easy" way out or if they think I am crazy for doing surgery for any reason..Its none of their business. Besides - I dont hang out with people who dont support me anyway. I am blessed to have great coworkers, family and friends. With that being said, people have shown concern over surgery just because as with any surgery it carries risks - I have already had 4 abdominal surgeries so my risk is higher just by statistics..My mother also died during an operation so that is brought up sometimes. Other than that I answer questions when I am asked about the process - I find most people are curious about recovery time and diet info more than anything else...

Sorry you had such an issue kyrickchick... Couple of comments to make..1) I would not go back to that Dr! If they dont make you feel confident in being a priority on the initial visit when they should be on their best behavior so you choose to do business with them - how do you think they are going to be once you have actually layed money down? As a concumer - and thats what all of us are - we have the right to be treated like our business means something to them. Not just like another piece of meat or an inconvienance. Doesnt put a lot of faith in them taking their time to make sure things are done right??? 2) Why the lapband? I know we are not really supposed to push 1 surgery over another - but I have read sooooo many posts about the band having to be removed and surgeries having to be revised. It could takes months before they even get the band to the right "settings" where you get to reap the benefits of it?? Most doctors are moving away from the bands all together....Also think you should go to youtube and watch a band removal video...I am sure you have done lots of research about all your options - I just am concerned because I dont want to see anyone not get the results they dream of. So banders please dont beat me up too bad!

Glad they got you in! I would have thrown a hissy fit. Dont they know not to mess with a woman trying to lose weight!! lol

I will be praying for you Becky. I had 2 open surgeries and totally dont wish that on any body! When I was 32 I had a 16c tumor so had to have a partial hysterectomy. The butcher - i mean "Doctor" did the surgery the old fashioned way by cutting me from belly button to love muffin! All he did was remove the tumor and the ovary it was surrounding. 6 weeks later I was back in the dr office being told I was needing to get a complete hysterectoimy so I had to go back under the knife and have another open surgery. The first time I felt like someone ran over me with a car. I was bruised all over my stomach - found out I was alergic to steristrips when my skin starting blistering and peeling off! It took me at LEAST 2 weeks before I could move without wanting to scream. Now the 2nd time around I had a different doctor. He in fact did a complete hysterectomy, did bone scrapings and also removed several lymphnodes. Was back up and running in just a few days.It was amazing the differences in the 2 surgeries. A couple years ago I had gallbladder removal via lapriscopic surgery - then had a twisted bowel surgery last year same way. Both of those were very easy and recovery was a breeze. Little sore but nothing a few days didnt take care of. For me being tired was the biggest issue! Seems like you are tired for a couple of weeks. Made mistake of trying to go back to work too early every single time - only to regret it by end of day! So Becky - you should be up and running by the 22nd of August! Just be sure to get as much rest as you can and listen to your body. Dont be super woman! -

So placed online order for the Unjury sample kit today. Our kit from the Dr office wont last but a few days so figure I had better get some other stuff. Unjury seems to have the most positive comments about it - and they offered a tester kit so I dont have to get a large tub of something I may not like! -

I was getting tired of going back and forth between bypass and sleeve rooms. For those that dont know I am still not sure what surgery will actually be done until the dr gets me on the table - so I have been trying to stay up on both topics. Fact is that no matter what surgery you are having dones really all the same in the long run! So why seperate everyone?? to me support is support. I know that sleevers will have some variances to bypassers - but we are ALL WLS people... -

Becky our prayers are with you! Please do let us know how you are as soon as you are up to it. I am also planning on deep cleaning this weekend so I dont have to worry about it for a few weeks. My kids will be so happy since I usually have them doing baseboards every weekend! lol. Have been putting together a hospital bag and have made hotel reservations. We live about 40 miles from Hospital but because I have to be there at 5:30AM and I live in Atlanta - I am staying close to hotel so I dont have to leave my house at 3AM! -

I am also a smoker so I totally understand onmyway! Though I have to be totally nicotine free for surgery or my dr wont do it. He said Nicotine causes issues with healing AND smokers are more prone to leaks!! So, I am on day 2 smoke free. Think the head stuff is the hardest part - not really going through "withdrawals" so much as I am having to talk myself out of negotiating reasons that I could smoke for another day or two if I wanted because nicotine is undetectable in urin after 4 days...LOL I am having surgery on the 5th and I really waited until last minute to stop smoking even though it would have been best to quite at least 2 weeks prior. SO I am disappointed that I didnt start last week. I finally had to tell myself that if I cant give up smoking how the heck do I plan on sticking to a healthier lifestylel?? I am going to do what I need to do! -
Hey Jen - I am farther along than you - getting ready to have RNY on Aug 5th. But I am new to everything as well and would be happy to help you in any way I can! Where are you at in the process?

I am 46 years old - 260 lbs - I agree that even though our friends and family offer their support - they dont understand REALLY. I dont think anyone who is not going through this themselves. It has been such a roller coaster and I have not even had the surgery yet. I find myself trying not to talk too much about it to those around me because I think they are tired of hearing about it! I am scared, excited, worried and a lot of other feelings I cant explain. I am in info overload - yet feel I dont know enough. Have heard all the horror stories from friends who knew friends who didnt do well - you know there are people out there that want to scare you into not doing this. What I find though is those people generally weigh 120 lbs and have never fought weight in their whole life! They dont know how it feels to be someone else under all this fat! They also assume that if I would "watch what I eat" I could do this on my own. Well I have always tried to watch what I eat. I havent had a fried food in probably 15 years. I am not a binge eater nor an emotional eater. Though I do tend to graze when bored and I do have a sweet tooth from hell! I dont eat 3 hamburgers and a large fry with a diet coke in a single sitting! I do know I am fat because of the things I have put in my body and because I dont exercise. I also have thyroid issues and other health issues over the years that have added the weight as well. When I was 32 I had cancer - the treatments caused a 50lb weight gain in just a very short time. I have never been able to get rid of all of that even after all these years. They dont know crap! No I never was the type to just eat a small salad - but I also wasnt the type to over do it either! Anyway - none of us need to hear those types of comments. If we had not tried diets - starving ourselves only to gain more back once we figured out that being hungry all the time wasnt working. Do they really think this whole process is just a simple walk in the park? Do they not realize that we are cutting our insides in a last ditch effort to create a healthier happier person? Well that is the end of my rant..lol. I am here for you and anyone else who needs me. We can do this - we will do this - and we will be success stories!! You and me both. My date is also august 5th and scared to death.
