What's Going On?
Roostertail2 replied to honeydew008's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is soooo frustrating! Still no movement. Everyone says be patient but you would expect more to happen as you starve; gag and deal with all the "must do"s. -
I TOTALLY understand what you are going through - have had same issue for over a week now. I just cant get the drinks down. As soon as the smell hits my nose my stomach turns -no matter what kind or what I have put in it! I thought for a few days that I might have a stricture - and was actually scheduled for upper GI today - but cancelled because other things were staying down. So now just got off phone with my NUT and she said the only alternative would be the "unflavored" Protein (makes everything look and taste like glue n chalk so how the heck is that unflavored?). She did tell me I could have a veggie/black bean patty with melted cheese (yeah!!!!) I am a big texture person so this has really been a tough few weeks! Hope that you are able to get to a better place with your issues!

Water has always been an issue for me. Probably average about 30oz a day... I know I know I know.. I'm trying real hard! -
Only lost 10lbs - WTF
Roostertail2 replied to Roostertail2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe me, I am really trying to swallow this stuff. I have 2 canisters of the unjury chickn soup, 2 cans nectar drinks, a Choc PB shake canister, a vanilla, strawberry and mocha chololate s well as a canister of unflavored. I have tried everything but they just wont go down. I instantly feel naseaus the minute it touches my lips! I have known from the beginning that the liquids would be an issue because I have never been a big drinker. I thought the shakes weren't going to be an issue though since I did fine with them the first few days post op. That's why I bought so much so I would have a variety. But this past week has really been hell trying to get ANY of it in without regurgitation or naseau. And the unflavored is not really unflavored since it tastes like chalk! lol. I have tried mixing it in my food but when you can only eat 1/2 a cup you cant really mix that much into it without turning the food into glue. With all that being said, my energy level is 0 - though I am making myself walk the treadmill for a min of 30 mins at a brisk pace so I burn at least 200 cals on that - which takes 1/2 of what I am able to consume in a day! The logical person in me knows my body is in starvation mode and is hoarding everything I am putting in my pouch - but what the heck can I do? I have a NUT apt on Sept 9th - but what can she tell me that I have not already tried? How long can I go like this before something medical does happen??? Sorry for complaining. I just want to do everything (I am able to control) correctly so I benefit as much as possible from this. I didn't go through surgery for the fun of it so I am frustrated that something as simple as drinking is causing me such a headache!! -

I was so scared that I was the only one who had this issue. I am almost 3 weeks post op and have only lost 10lbs - I lost that by 2nd day after surgery. Since then the scale has not budged!! I am having major issues with the protein as every single shake I have tried - and even the unflavored ones - make me want to throw up after just a few sips. I force myself to get in at least 1/2 the shake but then deal with the nausea for a while after. I am only getting in about 500 cals a day if I am lucky! I am not expecting major drops in weight - but when I hear about people dropping 20-30lbs first month It does discourage me that my scale wont move! -

OK guys - need some MAJOR support! I am now 3 weeks post op and I have only lost 10lbs! Lost those in first few days but since then the scale has not moved!!!!! Please tell me others are having same issue! WTF am I doing wrong? Fact is I am not eating but maybe a total of 1 to 1-1/2 cups of food (if that's what you want to call it) a day. I have not had good luck getting in the protein. My counter looks like a GNC store with all the different protein powders I have bought - but NOTHING tastes good enough to allow me to drink the whole damn thing. I get in a few sips and I want to vomit! I am eating oatmeal for breakfast and have had pureed something for lunch - today its bruinswick stew. For dinner I eat the remainder of the can if I can get that much down. WHY the hell isn't the scale moving!!!! Did I really do this to myself and spend 30K just to lose 10lbs, be nauseous all the time, tired all the time, and regurgitate daily??? -

Four days post op
Roostertail2 replied to CherriYaYa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had same issue- try nectar products. I love the twisted cherry.. Tastes like cool-aid... Much easier than those think shakes! -
Having somewhat same issue with getting food down. Did great with shakes first few days but past few days they make me gag! Now today even a few bites of something makes me throw up some kind of goopy stuff?? I can drink water without issue. I am only 2 weeks postop , lost 9lbs within first 3 days after surgery but now a week later and the scale hasn't moved- I think it's because I am taking in so few calories so my body is holding on to everything! ANY suggestions would be welcomed! I don't feel I have a stricture???

Why does it feel like I've swallowed a scrub brush?
Roostertail2 replied to sunnywillows's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am just 2 weeks post op but also feel so full all the time. I'm not eating hardly anything because I can't stand to add more to that feeling. Really hope this goes away! I'm barely consuming 300 cals a day! And protein shakes are gonna make me go wacko!! -
I was blessed with a nice round butt- other half is afraid I am going to lose it.. I hope not but if I do that's ok cause I will rock whatever I am left with. People are the cruelest creatures on the planet! I find though that the nasty ones are the most insecure. Becoming thinner or being fat doesn't make a person any prettier when the insides are ugly. I would rather be fat and surround by other fat people who are kind than give a second of my time or consideration to a mean Nasty person. So good for you for standing up for yourself! Don't ever let anyone ever take your sparkle.

Would love to have one too! Having hard time creating meals cause nothing seems to jump out at me. I really like veggies but they are off menu for right now. One more protein shake and I may hurt somebody!! -

Going for post op netting with dr today. Should be releasing me to go back to work on Monday. Doing great! Only complaint is trying to get in enough protein, water, pills and the few bites of food in a day. I'm constantly having to watch the clock! Always feel so full.. Kinda uncomfortable all day long! Down 11lbs lost that in first few days- no movement on scales for past 3 days -
I agree that you shouldn't start too early. I didn't have to do liquids except 1 day prior to surgery. I am now 3 days post op and already miss solids! Not really hungry so what I am feeling is all head hunger. Perhaps just substitute a meal a day with shakes??

Need AUGUST bypass buddies!
Roostertail2 replied to rhfactor272's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just had my surgery 8/5 . Everything you are feeling is normal. I've had 4 other surgeries and was never nervous but this one had me on pins and needles. But come to find out I was worried for no reason. Pain is minimal and seem to be moving around a lot better than I had for the other times. I think for most of us the fear is that it won't work on us! But I know as long as I do what doc and nut say I will be a success and so will you!!! Let us know how things go as soon as you get a chance! -

Congrats! I am 2 days post op and feel pretty good. Stomach is sore and have a little gas but I make sure I am walking a lot.. Get out of bed as soon as you can. I was walking every hour right after surgery. Think that's why I didn't have to deal with real bad gas pains... -
Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?
Roostertail2 replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Rants & Raves
Hey blond and anyone else out there who needs support- I just had my bypass surgery 8/5 so I am a newbie BUT I did have surgery at a center for excellence by the chief of staff. I have had numerous nut visits and have a large binder of several topics like diet, exercise, recipes and so on. I spend several hours a day on research and feel I am educated in this process. A far as repetitive posts about stalls- I agree that everyone should know that they will happen- but consider the fear we all have had that maybe we are one of the ones this doesn't work for? SUPPORT should not be something we pick and choose as to when we provide it and to whom. Support should be given freely. Each and everyone of us are/has been fat- and we each made the choice to finally do something about it. We know better than most what it feels like to be judged... So shame on anyone in here judging others! Perhaps you are now superior to the rest of us? If so maybe you need to move on to answering the questions In vogue magazines instead of griping about questions you find in here? With that being said- I am available to anyone to answer questions I feel I can or direct you to other sources if I don't know... -

Bypass... And really glad he did it. The ones on my floor with sleeve are not doing as well as I am. They are very nauseous and dr said that will more than likely last a week! Everyone said I best patient on floor! Brag brag brag. I have just changed and given up so much to get here. From here on out my success is up to me and I refuse to be the reason for that! Am doing everything doc says and also taking advise from all of you. All that reading really prepared me!!! -
