I was sleeved April 15, 2014 and I was terrified all the way up until I woke up in the recovery room post-op. But I felt the fear and just kept moving thru the stages anyway. Now, 5 days post-op I can say whole-heartedly that all my fears were unfounded. The surgery is literally a blink of your eye, you go in they give you something to relax and the next thing you remember is waking up in recovery. Recovery phase in the hospital is different for everybody but I believe that attitude is everything. Once you wake up shake the cobwebs off of you assess what your body is feeling. Ask for pain meds or nausea meds if you need them and then grab your IV pole and get to walking around the nurses station as quickly as your able. The quicker and more often you're up moving the better you will feel and the quicker you can move thru the phases needed to be discharged. It is a major surgery, but one that thousands of people have gone thru and survived. And that almost all..even those who had complications...have said on this board that they would do again. You've made the right decision. Now, feel the fear and do it anyway. Good luck with your surgery! See you on the losing side! Evelyn

I'm three days post-op, just for home from the hospital and I'm down 11 pounds? How can this be? I just made it to "Onederland"! I feel like my eyes are deceiving me. Maybe the part of stomach they took out weighed 11 pounds? Lol! I won't be getting on the scale for two weeks just in case it's a fluke... Starting Weight: 219 Surgery Weight: 208 (April 15, 2014) Current Weight: 197

I was sleeved on the 15th too. Hope to be discharged today. It eas my first surgery ever, as well. The gas was the hardest part for me. Pain every time I drank but it's better today. I'm glad I did this and look forward to hearing more about your recovery. -
Surgery in 3 hours!

You will do fine. I'm on my third day post - op and I'm feeling great. Day one and two can be a mixed bag of ups and downs as your new stomach is adjusting. Give it time. And remember to walk as soon as you can after recovery and make laps around the nurses station as often as you're able. Believe me it helps with your healing and the terrible gas after. Best advice I got was to walk, walk, walk. Praying you have a successful surgery and a speedy recovery! -
I Made It! I've crossed over.

I was sleeved yesterday too. I was up walking an hour after recovery with no pain. Thought it all would be a breeze. Lol! Then came last night and the gas pains from hell. I have never prayed for a burp harder in my life! Today the overall pain is better but I get a gas bubble after every sip I take no matter what it I drink. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know if the sips are causing the gas bubbles or if the sips are they're releasing the gas leftover from the surgery. But either way...OUCH!
