LOL I am about 5'7 and I have been told I have a small frame. Whatever. I'm a small girl trapped in a big girl's body!! I'm happy for me too!! LOL I wish I could lose 4 lbs every week until I am at goal. How awesome would that be? Too bad its very unlikely to happen!! LOL ANy other questions? I have been researching the band since 2002 so I know a thing or two about this procedure.

    Crazy Question

I don't have any personal experience with this, but on another board I frequent one of the "full" signals a couple of bandsters get when they should stop eating is a runny nose. Does your nose start running the same time as the sliming or does it come first? Maybe the runny nose is your body's signal to stop because you are full? Hope this helps!

    Gas

I am ready to begin my life. I sat on the couch for the past 25 years and now I am ready to grab the bull by the horns. Unfortunately I can't start excercising until I'm fully healed. So for the meantime I am envisioning a smaller me. We can do this!! The lightheadedness is to be expected we are taking in much less than we did previous to the band being placed and also anesthesia does funny things to your system even after you have been awake for awhile. It will get better, and we will get thinner!! WOOHOO!

TIme to love me - My surgeon didn't say anything about losing 20 lbs in 2 weeks, but it is probably possible, and you are probably right about it being mostly Water weight. All I know is that since Monday when I went for medical clearance from my Primary Care Dr I weighed 245. This morning I weighed 241 so already that is 4 lbs lost. I am not hungry at all - just a little lightheaded because of the lack of nutrients. I feel really good for just having surgery on Wednesday and hope that the scale continues going downward. ALthough I was told that any weight loss that occurs during this time is a bonus because right now our bodies are supposed to be healing and we're not supposed to be losing weight. If you have any other questions please let me know and I will try my best to answer them. So happy I am in bandland!

July5forme - You are so right about the hard part being over. I was TERRIFIED of having surgery but I am looking back now and realizing I was a big chicken for being so scared. For everyone else, what are you planning on doing to excercise once you are fully healed? I saw an informercial for a program called Turbo Jam and it looks fun and all the reviews I found on it are very encouraging. I am thinking about ordering it. DH and I also want to order a bowflex machine for strength training. What are your plans? Well, I am going to go for a little walk now. Hope everyone is well!

This morning I am feeling great!! I am of course still sore in my port area, but otherwise feeling fine. Gas pain has been gone since Thursday night, I am able to walk around outside in my yard since it is so beautiful outside. Best of all I started full liquids today and the Protein shake tastes like a wonderful treat after nothing but clear liquids for 3 days straight. I hope everyone feels as great as I do after their surgery. This is much easier than I thought it was going to be. Hope you all are doing well!

    Gas

Chuckle - congrats!! I have been taking chewable Gas-X and it is working wonders. Also, make sure you walk around because that helps to loosen the gas from inside of your body. I try to walk for at least 10 minutes almost every hour if I feel up to it. It will get better!! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Hippmom - You CAN do this. I was TERRIFIED of having surgery before I went through with getting the band on Wednesday. In fact in the car on the way to the hospital I told DH I changed my mind, I couldn't do this. I got to the hospital and was a nervous wreck. I was really freaking out. As I laid in bed waiting for them to get me into the OR I kept thinking I have lost my mind, I can lose weight naturally I don't need surgery. The tears flowed, but then I realized I needed the band to live my life. I didn't want to miss out on things in the future because of my size. I don't want to have a high risk pregnancy because of my size. I don't want my future children to suffer because their mother cannot keep up with them. I was then smiling realizing that I was on the road to a better life, and a better me. Right now the pain in my abdomen feels like I did too many sit ups. I am able to walk around my house and I feel pretty good. I am not hungry at all. You can do this! We are all here to help you!! If you want to talk some more feel free to msg me. Believe me if I can do it so can you! Love, Danielle

  19. Hey there! I am new to this board, but not to the world of the Lap Band procedure. I began researching this WLS back in 2001. I went for the first visit with the surgeon, got freaked out that I could actually have surgery and lose weight, and then lost my health insurance so I could not follow through with the surgery. I am recently married, and am getting my Masters Degree in a week and a half. I am going to start teaching English in the fall. I realized that I want a better life for myself. I have severe asthma, and walking long distances has become a chore, to sometimes impossible on my bad days. I need this surgery to live a normal life. I just want to be able to breathe. I am eager to continue on this journey into Bandland
