What were your instructions regarding calcium citrate? Were you told only chewable? How many mg per day?

Anyone else get nervous about every little pain and bubble?
Sunnyskies2283 replied to Fox-E's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I was nervous as well but I think it's important to remember it will likely be very obvious if something serious is wrong. I sometimes got nervous seeing the incisions on my stomach. I could only imagine how nervous I would have been if I had been able to see what a mess my insides were in. -
Positivity Challenge. Name 3 things about surgery that has changed your life.
Sunnyskies2283 replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Optimistic for the future - It was too easy before to see a future of struggles and to think why bother. Truly happy now. 2. New hobbies - New found fitness has brought on new hobbies. They bring a lot to my life. 3. Energy - it's so much better having energy to do the things I want to do. Before I would need a nap at every available opportunity. -
Anyone find themselves hungry and eating constantly? Like every 2.5 hours? Calories still are only around 800 but it just seems like so much of my day is spent eating. I used to eat a lot at onetime but it was still in only 3 meals a day. This is different. I'm 7 weeks post op.

eating constantly!

I do get my 70 grams of Protein in. I really don't think it's head hunger. It feels like the real thing and I'm taking a ppi. Is it possible that I'm eating too few carbs which causes it? Mfp says I eat about 45 percent protein, 40 percent fat, and only 15 percent carbs. -
Anesthesia?
Sunnyskies2283 replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was dry heaving severely initially in recovery but they gave me some med to knock me back out. They told me it would make me very sleepy so I slept about 14 hours straight. After I woke up from that, the nausea was very manageable by regular anti nausea meds. -
I've been doing fairly intense cardio for a month but today was a first session with a personal trainer. I'm very very uncomfortable in my lower back. For anyone that has worked with a personal trainer, how sore were you after the first couple sessions? How many sessions before your body really got the hang of it?

Was anyone prescribed gall bladder meds as a precautionary measure? They came in large capsules. How am I supposed to take these?

Questions about net calorie intake
Sunnyskies2283 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3.5 weeks post op. I'm taking in about 550 calories a day and it does take work to do that. For the last 1.5 weeks, I've been getting in an hour of pretty intense cardio and i feel great doing it. If I burn 400 calories and eat 550 that leaves only 150 net calories. Is this okay? I know I could use full fat mayo, cheese, etc to get quick calories but is that recommended when the calories will naturally increase on their own over time? What's your opinion? -
Question...what has been the hardest thing to deal with post op?
Sunnyskies2283 replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hardest thing for me at 3.5 weeks post op is that my life revolves around food more than it ever has. Getting in 5 small meals a day takes substantial planning and constant attention to eating. Its annoying at times. Before surgery, i could just plan on finding something for three meals a day where ever I was at the time. Of course that contributed to the mess of my body. With that said, I would do it again in a heart beat. This has put me on the road to a happier, healthier life. -

Appetite question.....still pre-op
Sunnyskies2283 replied to Bobby46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I still get hungry at three weeks out but to this point it has not been a ravenous type of hunger where I want to scarf down any and all food in sight like before surgery. -
Couple of questions
Sunnyskies2283 replied to slimfastLI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three and a half weeks out. I'm also able to drink water at the same pace as before surgery. I asked the doctor at my two week appointment if it could have negative consequences. She said you would know and feel it if it was an issue and so she recommended I not worry about drinking water too quickly. -
I had surgery 7/7 and noticed I have a pokey thing sticking out of the large incision site. It is very small but I wonder if its delay the healing. Anyone else experience this?

How long did it take for your tape over the incisions to fall off? I thought they told me 10 to 14 days but I'm on day 14 and these suckers don't look anywhere lose to coming off.

Hi everyone...I'm 5 days post op and overall it's going pretty well. I am hard core struggling to get in both the 70 g. Protein and required water though. I know they say not to graze but isn't it necessary to sip all day on protein drinks and protein soups to get it all in at first? What did you do early on ?

TOMORROW IS MY SURGERY!
Sunnyskies2283 replied to newforyou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
July 7 is my date too. I'm so ready to not be starving on this liquid diet! As for cheating, I had some fat free shredded cheese one day and a few days I had 5 of the new direction products instead of 4 because I could not handle the hunger! Good luck to you.....I'll be anxious to hear how you are after the surgery. -
July 9th Sleevers!
Sunnyskies2283 replied to Breaking Red's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
July 7 here! Can't wait but very much starving on the 4 shake a day diet. I will make it. This may be an irrational fear but i just imagine myself completely naked on the operating table in front of about 5 people before being knocked out. Anyone know if its like that? I guess if that's the biggest of my fears it can't be that bad. -
Hi...glad to see a michiganders group! Anyone have experience with Dr. Lane in lansing? I'm currently starving on a 2 week.pre op diet but keeping my eye on the prize with surgery scheduled july 7.

Pseudotumor Cerebri Symptoms Improved?
Sunnyskies2283 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For anyone that's had the sleeve and pseudotumor cerebri, did you see improvment in your symptoms? How long after the surgery did you see improvement? -
Hi everyone...I received my surgery date of July 7 which means I start the pre-op Protein diet next Monday. The surgeon said that the diet should produce an additional 10 pound loss. I've lost 25 pounds in the 2 months that I've been on the medically monitored weight loss for insurance (they had set a goal of only 10 pounds). However, the fact that I have already lost the 25 pounds makes me very much question whether I will be able to hit the 10 pound mark from the surgeon. I'm not expecting I'll be able to hit huge losses in the two weeks before surgery because I have been on a 1200 calorie diet for two months already. I've even considered manipulating this weeks weigh in so I have a couple extra pounds to make that 10 pound mark easier. Has anyone had difficulty losing the required amount on the pre-op "product" diet?

Letter Of Medical Necessity And Sample Letter.
Sunnyskies2283 replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard of having to have 5 years of weigh-ins. Is that a normal insurance thing? I thought the requirements were usually just the 3 or 6 month supervised diet?
