Think I found my surgeon...Dr Sergio Quinones
trvlgrl replied to trulyamazingtoo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm down here right now. Just woke up and will get my iv and drain out today! Yay!! Everyone is so nice and will help you in any way they can. Dr. Q has stopped by twice to check on me. I'll be staying at the holiday inn tonight then will catch my plane home tomorrow. I get to start on liquids today too so that's exciting! If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them. -

My surgery is Thursday and I'm trying to keep my mind off it. I love reading all your posts! It keeps me positive and reminds me that in a month I'll be almost back to normal only a better version! ???? Here's a joke for you: what did one snowman say to another snowman? Do you smell carrots? -
Think I found my surgeon...Dr Sergio Quinones

I'm having my surgery with Dr. Quinones on Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes! -
I told my employer today that I was having surgery and she told me I had to get the FMLA paperwork completed by me and my doctor. Has anyone ever had any issues with taking FMLA for having surgery in Mexico?
-
My surgeon completed the form with no problem. I was just responding to bulldog 1973 that took her form to her PCP instead of her surgeon.
-
She thought about her journey
-
Unfortunately i don't think my PCP would do that for me.

Which Doctors Sew over the staples in Mexico?
trvlgrl replied to BackToBeautiful's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr. Quinones sutures over the staple line. I'm having surgery with him Oct. 23rd. -
I'm getting sleeved on the 23rd also! I'm excited and hoping this turns out to be the answer I've been searching for!

So today is my first day on my pre-op liquid diet. It hasn't been bad actually. I've been hungry on and off but I'm so busy I ignore it and take a drink of Water. I did find some yummy broths to help me through. Swanson has introduced Tuscan chicken, hot & sour Soup and Mexican tortilla. This gives me somewhat of a variety so I don't get too bored. I'm pretty motivated right now so I'm willing to put up with whatever but we'll wait and see how I am after 2 weeks of this...????

My date is Oct 23rd too! Today was my first day of my pre op diet. It went well so far! How are you doing on yours? Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly! -
I'm just starting my pre-op diet tomorrow and am a little nervous about it. I've bought pretty much everything I need to start off. I don't know about you but I just wish it would be my surgery day! I tend to be impatient about these things and I just want to get it over with so I can start adjusting to my new lifestyle. I wish you lots of luck this Friday and I hope all goes well for you! ????

This is weird but when I think of no longer eating some of my favorite things after I have the surgery I get kind of panic-y! ????. I know eventually I can't eat normal flood but these are foods that I don't want to bring back at all. Sadly I felt the same way when I quit smoking 2 years ago. I lived through that just fine so I know I'll be fine but it just shows me what kind of affect food has on me psychologically! ????. I'm really looking forward to not having those feelings and being on the other side.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
trvlgrl replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I dread getting on a plane and if I do I get the window seat because I feel like I have a little more room. I had a slight melt down on my last trip in September because I had a middle seat and my husband was in another part of the plane. At the last minute they were able to change is to the exit row and I got my window seat. My husband wanted to go to an amusement park and I said I didn't want to go which confused him since I love roller coasters. I didn't want to go because I knew I would fit into the seat. I'm starting to have issues with my left knee and I have a hard time getting up from sitting and forget getting down on the floor! Just a few things... There are more little things that convince me that this is the right choice. I can't wait to do whatever I want and my size being the last thing on my mind! -
I want to do so many things! My short list is to make my daughter mad by trying on and fitting into all of her clothes (she'd be happy for the weight loss but not me wearing her clothes and I keep threatening to do it when I get smaller), fit comfortably into an airplane seat, buy knee high boots because my calves can fit, wear shorts and run!!

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. About 8 years ago I lost 76 lbs. and dressed in what I was comfortable in... Jeans, boots and a shirt... I got a lot of attention from men even though I was plainly married. The men looked at me and thought I drove a high end car when I actually drove an SUV. They almost seemed disappointed, like I had let them down in some way. Very odd. I'm getting the sleeve on the 23rd and while my husband is supportive he has mentioned that he dreads the attention I will probably get again. We've been married for a long time and I think just a hint of protective jealousy will spice things up a bit... ????. I am very happy with him and he knows it. I'm going to be curious to see if I dress the same or if my tastes have changed. I wear certain styles now because they "cover" and "hide" my less than amazing body so I'm going to be curious to see what I like when I can wear anything. ????

Gastric sleeve surgery October 23rd with Dr. Quinones
trvlgrl posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
So I've been stalking this site for several months and have done my research. I finally took the next step and put my deposit down and made my flight reservations! I'm a little nervous but, once I've made up my mind there really is no changing it ????. I'm not sure if my DH is going at this time but I have his support and he will probably go with me knowing him. TBH I can't believe I actually took the plunge! Surprisingly enough I'm at peace so I know it was the right decision. I need this for me and my family. I've been overweight most of my adult life and I'm ready to be fit and healthy!! Whether you know it or not you helped me feel confident enough to go down this road. You helped me make my decision. Thank you so much! -
Gastric sleeve surgery October 23rd with Dr. Quinones
trvlgrl replied to trvlgrl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It was overwhelming for me at first too. I got started on this site and just started reading. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery so I had to find an alternative that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I read about other people's experiences with their surgeons. Read, research and then narrow it down to two or three choices then go with who you're comfortable with in your gut. I kept going back and forth and was afraid to make the wrong choice so I finally just picked one off my short list and it felt right. By the time I made up my mind I pretty much knew what to expect so I just jumped in with both feet. Here's a link to some questions to ask: http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/320630-how-are-you-deciding? I hope this helps a bit. I actually contacted the surgeon last week and my surgery is October 23rd so it went pretty fast. I might have been able to have it sooner but that date worked best for my schedule. Good luck with your search. Ask lots of questions and listen to your gut. ???? -
I have a ventral hernia and my surgeon said I needed to get my wls done first and then they would do the hernia repair... He won't do it at the same time.
