Amy- How did you do with the ground beef? I'm really struggling with it. I had the most delicious rotisserie chicken yesterday. It basically melted in mouth. I seem to cook it too dry, so I think I'm going to trust Kroger from now on! I'm glad you're doing so well!

April 2014 RNY/Bypass Post Op Support

Good morning everyone! I have a problem. Last weekend I had to go the the ER because I was having severe pain in my lower belly, bloody diarrhea (sorry), dry heaves, and the shakes. They couldn't find what was wrong, just doped me up with pain meds and phenegran and discharged me. Apparently it just sometimes happens. Ever since, I cannot tolerate water or much of anything else. I vomit about 50% of the time. I feel awful and I know I'm pretty dehydrated. I have been able to drink Gatorade, which is helping a little. Even though I don't vomit every time, I still gag on everything. Has anyone else has this problem? Is it normal? I started back to work last week and today is already the 2nd day Ihave missed...

Today was the first day I have been away from home for most of the day. I didn't think I would be gone so long, but I just got home after 6 hours. I haven't eaten since 9 am and I'm starved. My question, what do you all take for food when you don't have access to broth or yogurt or cottage cheese?

Tomatoes! And cheese! And possibly a baked potato with butter and sour cream. I'm not craving meat, I want fruit and vegetables!
  5. I had the mirena inserted back in December due to issues with my periods. In March I was bleeding heavily and having severe cramping. The morning of my bypass I was in the shower and I could feel it coming out. IT WAS AWFUL. I freaked out because I was convinced that my surg would have been cancelled. Thank goodness they didn't. The issues still aren't resolved and I can't get in to see the obgyn until the end June. I'm really frustrated at this point. They sent a resident to my room while I was in the hospital and she was NO HELP WHATSOEVER. My nurse wanted me to report her, but it won't solve anything. Needless to say, I'm still having issues and can't see the Dr for almost 2 months. I'm glad you all are doing well with this. I don't think I'm equipped to deal with teo major issues at once!

    Unjury Unflavored

Great question! I too think the flavored powders are too darn sweet. Before the surgery, give me savory foods. I struggled with the sweet for quite a while. I over did broth and even now I struggle to drink even 1/4 cup. I've been adding the unflavored powder to cream soups and it's great! I can tell a bit of difference with consistency, but nothing that is really noticeable. Has anyone added it to mashed potatoes?

I've never heard if V8 for nausea. What an easy fix! My problem us carsickness. I can't go 2 miles down the road with out getting the urge to vomit. Even when I'm in the front seat! I drove once this week and I was fine. Whenever I go anywhere, I've been taking a dramemine. It's the only thing that's helping me through this. Other than that, I feel great! Im now 36 lbs down since the day of surgery! I can honestly now say that is was well worth it!

Hello friends, I have been doing pretty well since my surg 4/7. I was doing really well and then on Sunday I'm having extreme pain on the right side of my belly. It still feels like I have stitches that are pulling. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't have this pain before Sunday. I'm walking a lot, but it doesn't seem to help. Someone told me I would regret this for about 2 weeks and This week I'm still regretting it. I can deal with everything else, I just wish the pain would go away!

April 7 People Check in here!

Hello fellow April 7 people! I hope everyone is doing fantastic! I had my first follow-up appt yesterday and I have lost 25 lbs! I can't get over that! I was switched to a pureed diet yesterday and nothing has ever tasted so good! I still have to pain, but NOTHING like last week. Im finally starting to feel human again! The only bleak spot this week has been motion sickness. I suffered from it when I was a kid, but I haven't had any problems since. My mom took me on a ride and I have never been so nauseous in my life. I dry heaved for like 10 minutes afterward. Same thing when I went to my appt yesterday. I really hope this goes away! Has anyone else had any issues?
  10. Anyone? I think I have a pretty wicked UTI. I have my first follow-up on Wednesday. I don't think I'm gonna last that long. Instead of Water I am now sipping cranberry juice. Do you think the Dr would call in a script tomorrow without actually seeing me?

I too am having a ton of pain. Mine is mostly where the staple/suture is on the left side of my belly. It's really only when I'm getting up and down and when I try to reach for something. I'm definitely not getting enough water, but I feel like I'm drinking all of the time. This phase includes a regular popsicle or regular juice to keep my electrolytes in balance. The good news is that they don't nauseate me, but I get wicked cramps and diarrhea. Someone told me I would regret this for about 2 weeks. Right now I still feel a little regret, but it's slowly going away. I can say that I am VERY envious of those that were able to do normal things one the day of discharge! Good luck to everyone and you're all in my prayers

I was in recovery at about 2. The pain was unbearable, they gave me the max amount of dilauted. I thought they were going to cancel me yesterday. While I was in the shower, I could feel my IUD coming out! It wasn't emergent, sowe went ahead. I feel much better today. I've been walking laps around the floor and sleeping. Struggling to even get water down. Good luck to everyone in the recovery phase!

    Pre-op diet blues

I too feel your pain. This is my 3rd day on all liquids and all I can think about is food! I have been fixating on a cheeseburger since last night. Everytime I think of it, I drink broth. Or drink a tall glass of Water. I'm struggling, but I know what it's about in the end... Hang in there!

April 7 People Check in here!

New to this board. I'm also scheduled for April 7. I was super excited until I started my liquid diet on 3/31. Now the nerves are settling in and I AM SO HUNGRY. I'm not a sweets person, so I struggle to get down the protien shakes. I have been drinking Water and vegetable broth constantly since Monday. I try to keep myself busy, but it's always in the back of my mind. I am also sleeping alot this week. I'm not hungry when I can't sleep!!
