I am new to this and have never written in so I hope I am doing this correctly! I have my consultation two weeks from today and am hoping that everything goes well to be able to have the sleeve surgery done just after school in June. I am very anxious, excited, and nervous. Quite honestly weight loss surgery is almost the only thing I can think about during the day. What do I need to expect for my consultation? I have some anxiety in this area because I do not know what to expect. What is to be expected on this day? Do things move quickly or will it go pretty slow after the consultation. I read on another post that someone's consultation took 4 hours. What happens that is going to be that long? If you can share your experiences I think that will help me feel more at ease and maybe my mind can take a break and just wait for the day to get here. BTW, I am going to be going with insurance instead of out of pocket. I talked to the doctor's office and they said that my insurance just requires me to have a BMI over 40 (which I am at 43) so I assume that shouldn't be any issue. Does the insurance party go pretty fast or not so much? I would appreciate any insight or experiences greatly. There is so much emotion attached to this and the unknown is so difficult! ~Mary

Great job! That is so exciting. I know that seeing the scale headed in the right direction is pretty rewarding. I can't wait to be in your shoes. I'm just starting my journey with my consultation in two weeks. This sure is great motivation. Keep up the fantastic work!

Wow! Congratulations on your success. This is so encouraging since I am just now starting my journey. I have my consultation on the 16th and hope to have my surgery in June. You certainly are an inspiration! I saw that you are from Texas and your surgeon was Nicholson. I think I am going to be going with Dr. Kim. I am from Fort Worth, so I looked into both of them. I felt like I couldn't go wrong with either but end the end have decided on Dr. Kim. I assume you liked Nicholson? Any regrets or difficulties over your year? Congrats again! You are doing fantastic.

I teach first grade and I am hoping to get my surgery at the beginning of the summer as well. I have lists and lots of questions but now not feeling as prepared as you. I have my consultation on the 16th and maybe should call to make sure that I have everything lined up since I want to do the surgery as early in the summer as possible. Hopefully I will be getting surgery at the same time as you. Glad to hear that I am not the only one obsessing. My husband is getting pretty sick on me talking about it. It is the main thing I think of throughout the day and I wish I could fast forward to my appointment and get the ball rolling. Good luck on all of your appointments!

Great information everyone! Thanks so much. I will call them tomorrow to find out what I should do to prepare. It sounds like every doctor/insurance has their own way of doing things!

Wow! I guess four hours makes sense with labs and that many meetings with people I guess I should call and find out if that is how mine will go? Did you have to fast for the blood work and tests?

Weight loss surgery is NOT easy... the things I wished they had warned me about.

This is great information. I can definitely see how knowing that it can be horrible can be helpful. I want to know all of the possible side effects/problems that can arise so I can be prepared. Sounds like you are doing much better now. Congrats on your pounds down! Keep it up.
