sick and needing some advice
Lamonica2013 replied to Lamonica2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm using warm salt water rinses and sugar free throat lozenges. Seems like this cold doesn't wanna let go so gonna try some Tylenol cold and flu today to see if that helps. Feel a little worse each morning. -
So I have managed to drop 62 lbs over the last 3 months, but I've been sick for the last 3 days with some for viral ordeal. My throat is killing me, my body aches all over, I have no energy, and I'm losing my voice now. With being sick I have been forcing myself to eat a d drink because I'm not really hungry at all. My weight is going up a couple oz each day. I'm assuming it's because I'm not exercising. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that may help me continuing to lose weight during the this process or help with getting over this so I can have the energy to exercise. I don't want to stall my weight loss and be lectured by my Dr and boyfriend. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Hello again all. I have been extremely frustrated with my weight loss. I had my surgery on Feb 5 2014 so I am a little over 2 months po. The first month from the time the Dr recorded my weight until he seen me 1 month po I dropped 34 lbs. I was ecstatic. When I went in for my 2 month check I only lost 7 lbs taking me down to 226. That was on April 7. Since then I have dropped 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I work out at least 5 days a week doing 45 mins on my elliptical and then lifting 10 lb weights on top of it to get my arms in shape hoping some of the skin will stretch back. I eat healthy getting 60 grams of protein daily and plenty of water though sometimes I may be a few grams short on my protein and a little short on fluids. Why am I not losing more weight then I am? It just doesn't make sense to me. My Dr was upset with my at my last visit for not dropping enough weight. I see so many people hitting the 100lb mark before a year and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I plan to start tomorrow walking 4 miles a day like I was before I got the elliptical a couple weeks ago on top of everything else I'm doing. Can someone please help me or guide me so I can increase my weight loss?

Once I was a month out my Dr had my eat 2 eggs and a protein shake a day. A couple weeks later I was able to eat whatever I wanted, protein first of course. Couple weeks after that I started with 2 oz of meat and a 1/4 a cup of veggies though usually I could not get in the veggie most times because the meat made me full. Then in 2 weeks later I increased the meat to 3 oz which is what I eat now and a bite or 2 of veggies and I'm full. However a lot of the time I can only get in the meat. I still drink 1 protein shake a day but I split it in half because I drink ensure. It's the only protein. Shake I can handle. My best advice to you is make sure when you eat you get in that protein and as much as you can. It's the most important part of our diet. I do not eat potatoes or carbs. Not yet. I had my surgery on Feb 5 -

Thanks for your encouragement everyone it truly helps a lot. I will continue what I'm doing and just hope that I do t catch grief from my Dr. I have taken measurements the last couple weeks and I do see it dropping. Hoping it continues. -

Yes I have I'm down a couple pant sizes from where I started. None of my clothes fit anymore. Thanks for your encouraging words. They have certainly helped me feel better about my progress so far. -

I thought I was doing well until I seen the Dr he said otherwise. -

so much for starting to feel better...

After hitting a nearly 3 week stall I finally started losing again this past week slowly. Finally I was starting to feel better and not so down on myself. I went to see my doctor today and I've lost 7 lbs in the last month. Instead of hearing words of encouragement he told me I wasn't doing a good enough job and need to work harder. I explained to him I hit a stall and couldn't lose and nd I just started losing again. His words "well you just have to work through it". It didn't matter how hard I worked I couldn't lose it. I really thought I was doing good. Was even kinda proud of myself and need starting to accept this new life style better now I feel like I'm back at square one and did nd depressed again. -

I forgot to add I'm only 2 months Post op -
Ellis everyone my name is Lamonica and I'm new here. I had my sleeve done on Feb 5, 2014. Within the first month I lost 34lbs and my doctor said I was doing great but I battled and still battle depression from my choice to have this surgery. Since my last dr visit I have increased my exercise and am now walking 3.5-4 miles a day weather permitting. My weight loss has dramatically slowed and stalled for over 2 weeks. In the last couple days I noticed my weight was down a little in the morning from 230 to 226 but I have a terrible habit of wanting to weight myself multiple times a day watching my weight go back up and then back down to where it started in the morning by bed time. Can't seem to lose like I hoped I would. I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing but it just doesn't wanna come off. I know in my mind that I am not exercising as much as I should and I keep trying to push myself to do more, but I can't seem to. I don't know what else to do. I feel like a failure and am back to wishing I didn't have this done. My whole life has changed as has everyone else who has had this surgery but I just can't seem to adapt or accept it as my new life. Can anyone help ?? Thanks for letting me get this all out.
