Help! I need a new surgeon asap!
staylucid replied to Sistergrl25's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you will be really happy with Dr. Kurian. She is such a sweetheart! If you have an apppointment in two weeks, it may be at least a 6 week wait for surgery. I don't want you to be disappointed if that is indeed the case. -

I went with Dr. Kurian from the NYU group in NYC. It is a crazy busy office, that also services patients for Dr. Ren and Dr. Fielding. Dr. Kurian is wonderful! -
Banded July 1 - Doing Okay
staylucid replied to wsw27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was banded on July 1! I actually shared a room with WSW27 (Wendy). Thanks to all July 1 banders for checking in. SOunds like everyone is on the mend. I am doing much better than I ever had imagined. I warned my family of all the possibilities. To date, I haven't taken any pain meds, not even aspirin and am feeling good. Water and walking has done wonders! -

staylucid replied to wsw27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wsw27, we may have crossed paths today getting the pre-surgical testing. If I had known I would of met up with you. I hope it when as smoothly for you as it did me. I was really surprised. The nurse told me it is all about timing. Even throwing my esophogram into the mix, I got done with everything much earlier than I thought. Have you heard anything from your insurance company yet? Which shakes are you doing? I'm doing the Slim Fast Optima and Carnation Breakfast, and I'm already sick of them. Believe it or not, I am have difficulty taking in enough calories/protein. I am so hungry!!! -

I was scheduled for the 23rd as well! I changed my appointment, because as a teacher, I didn't want to take the whole day, when the kids had a half day. I will most definitely let you know how I do. I know that not knowing is the worst. Think positive! -

Tentative Surgery Date at NYU July 1, 2008
staylucid replied to wsw27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a tentative surgery date of July 1st with Dr. Kurian too! Now, I just hope I get the approval from my insurance (BC/BS of NJ). Nilsa told me it is still too soon to submit to insurance. I'm scheduled to start fasting the 17th of June. It would not be fun to start the fast, and later find out that insurance denied me. In regards to insurance covering the psch eval and nutritional consult, my understanding is all insurance companies are different. Even if someone has the same insurance, each employer has different exclusions. Best of luck! -

NYer going to NYU med center
staylucid replied to Sooverit!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm new to this site, but would like to thank you for making me feel more comfortable with choosing NYU and specifically Dr. Fielding to perform the procedure. Are there any pointers that will help me with my psych evaluation with Dr. Huberman? Does anyone know if we will ever be able to have six pack abs, or will the port be sticking out?
