Menstrual cycle is messed up :(
bellaaa_vita posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my period 2 weeks ago and it's back again...have any of you ladies gone through this? I was on birth control but had to come off for surgery. -
@@Denise73 ... That's a great question! The EUFORA thickening collection Is designed for "fine textured hair" however, it couldn't hurt to give it a try..the worst that could happen is your hair may not receive as much moisture as a moisturizing shampoo..so I would suggest using a deep conditioning masque or treatment once a week to replenish moisture back in your hair..you could also use their beautifying serum on your hair to soften it as well..what's nice about the beautifying serum is that you can use it from head to toe super softening and provides your and skin with hydration, antioxidant protection, heat and sun protection and antimicrobial benefits! It's a jack of all trades

So for some reason today I lost self control...I put myself in discomfort by eating a hard sour dough pretzel ( the ones you buy in the bag from the grocery store)..sat so heavy in my stomach and made me burp for two hours straight and then my boyfriend and two friends wanted to go to Cheesecake Factory for dessert...and my boyfriend got Oreo cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream and I had a few bites of it...so not worth it and made me feel so sick...I don't know what got in to me..I am so strict with eating right and exercising regularly.. I am 3 months post surgery, 55lbs down weighing in at 201.8 ..I know we're only human and we all make mistakes...but I can't seem to let this go and stop obsessing over it..I feel like a failure to be honest...I feel like I betrayed my body ;( what do you guys do to get through this? I feel so terrible and ashamed of myself

Thank you everyone for your support..I too am someone that needs to cut treats and junk out completely because if I have a little, I too lose a little self control...in the beginning I never treated myself..3 months out and im starting to treat myself and in my opinion it's dangerous for me...I don't trust myself lol so back to healthy *treats* and continuing with my exercise routine! Feeling much better after reading all of your posts...I am so grateful for this app and all of the lovely peeps that came with it! xo -
Beating myself up :(

I'm going to try and take the emotion out of it, and just get back on the wagon...thank you everyone for your support and advice it is appreciated -
I am a hairdresser and I've seen so many cases like this with my guests in my chair. (I'm starting to experience it myself)...it is normal for our case and almost always expected to happen...the best thing you can do is to keep drinking your 64oz + of Water a day...keep Protein high...and take your Vitamins and supplements every day...my step mom had the sleeve down 2 years ago and lost a tremendous amount of hair..the product line we carry in the salon came out with a thickening collection. The company is called EUFORA international...you may or may not have heard of it...it is salon exclusive which means you will not find it in a grocery store, drug store or even online. The product lines use a blend of botanical extracts, food grade based preservatives ( so you could technically eat the product if you wanted to , but you may fart shampoo bubbles ???? ) and they are based with certified organic pharmaceutical grade aloe Vera gel..I've been using eufora for about 6 years and my hair has been in the best condition it has ever been in...granted I am experiencing some hair loss..but the girls at the salon said my hair still feels really heAlthy and it is still growing..anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent...just wanted to give you some product knowledge..so basically the thickening line was designed for people who have experienced extreme hair loss/thinning due to stress, illness, and weight loss surgery! The line is comprised of a treatment shampoo, treatment conditioner, treatment scalp spray (you use that twice a day) a thickening serum you use when you blow dry style your hair and a special thickening blend vitamin/supplement..one of our guests has always had very little hair and she just purchased her second box of the eufora thickening collection...I am beyond thrilled with the results for this guest and with the results my step mom experienced...if you are skeptical of it or concerned..I would highly reccomend you check out eufora.net and it will give you more information on it and you can find a local salon that carries it or since I used to teach for the company..if you let me know what state your in, I might know a salon to recommend for you good luck and best wishes to you! -Stephanie

Ladies! Have any of you had any challenges with birth control and weight loss? I recently went back on the pill a month ago and I'm still losing about 2 lbs a week..because of finances I'm switching to an iud that is covered 100% by my insurance...has anyone had any challenges with an iud also? The one I'm getting is Skyla..made by the same company that makes mirena..

Birth control!

Apparently mirena and Skyla reduce your periods down to like nothing -
Sleeved on 3/24/14 and as of early this week I am officially down 50 lbs! SW: 256 CW: 205

I burp all the time ...even when I'm not eating...more so when I'm hungry..I don't understand it!!! I don't drink while I eat, I don't go anywhere near carbonation, and I don't drink through straws! So frustrating and gross

Burping all the time :(

I am almost 3 months out -
Just had frozen yogurt with fruit and granola for dinner and I feel horrible because it wasn't a protein packed dinner and probably had too much sugar...I follow the high protein diet closely and eat a lot of unprocessed foods..and I exercise regularly...why do I feel so damn guilty? I hate being so hard on myself but I just can't help it!

I am 7 1/2 weeks post op btw... -
I was sleeved on march 24th and today was the first day in many months that I went to spin class...so glad I did it! Starting spin again definitely made me feel like a beginner again, but it's a start and I'm looking forward to it every week the instructor was great and I made friends with 3 women in my class..one of them had no idea that I was a beginner! She was impressed with how well I pushed through the class so grateful for my sleeve and the knowledge and experiences it has given me! Happy Monday! xo
-
A big portion of a spin class is standing up..the best advice I can give you is go at your own pace! Don't stop, just pedal slower if you have to. Also, you don't have to use the resistance that the instructor tells you to use..you have to work your way up to the fast pace otherwise you will set yourself up for disaster ( it happened to me once years ago) you could end up throwing up, or even worse, passing out and falling off the bike... I hope this was helpful
-
@recycled...I figured you were kidding..was just playing along! Lol
-
Lol! It's okay! If you weren't kidding, spin is cycling lol

So, I think my bathroom scale has seen better days.. Have had it for 10 years..it shows that I weigh more naked than I do at the surgeons office with clothing!!! What do brand of scales do you guys like? I'm willing to spend $50 max
-
Peanut butter supreme, chocolate chip cookie dough, and strawberry cheesecake all the way! Not a fan of the cookies and cream though..weird texture and consistency..

Fellow sleevers! I am 4 weeks post op and have graduated to "soft solids" ... What foods did you struggle with during this phase and what were you successful with? (I can now have deli turkey/ham/cheese/chilli/ground turkey, ground chicken, ground beef, chicken salad, tuna salad)
-
I've had this insane craving for this healthy brand of popcorn called skinny pop...35 calories per cup and only 2 ingredients: sea salt and sunflower oil...used to eat it all the time before surgery..I am now 5 weeks post op ...when were you guys cleared for popcorn?

Question for those who had lower start BMI/under 100 pounds to loose
bellaaa_vita replied to Bluesea71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a silly question...those of you with no weight related conditions and a low bmi...how the heck did you get approved for coverage for the surgery?!! It was such a bitch (excuse my French) for me to get covered..first bariatric group I went with got me denied..and then 2 months later I went to an extremely reputable bariatric group in my area and they got me approved..I mean every insurance company is different but some of you have seriously low starting weights..I think my insurance company would have laughed in my face if I was 5'5 and 200 lbs asking to covered for wls lol (starting weight before my surgery back in march was 256 and I'm 5'5) -
Starbucks has whey protein powder that they can add to drinks..and I didn't know you could Get brewed chai tea! Good to know
