Omg this happened to me also! I thought I was going insane..I wear glasses for distance, so when I couldn't see that well up close I was bugging out! Glad to see that I wasn't crazy or going blind! Lol

I wouldn't go with any of their pre-mixed drinks...they are loadeddddd with sugar! My best friend is a barista at Starbucks..that's how I know that. If you're going to have them anyway, just be careful. And make sure if it is a sweet drink such as a chai or skinny frap, ask them to add a scoop of protein into and you can make that a breakfast and also stay with a tall for the sweet drinks...they're 12 oz...for a hot coffee/chai, ask for a short ( they don't suggest that size on their menu because they're greedy and want you to buy a tall + ) I hope this helps you! PS, you can always ask if it comes in sugar free or if they can use a sugar free syrup you don't want to sabotage the hard work your surgeon did to make this weightloss process possible for you! Keep up the good work ????

Okay so I am 3 days into my soft solid/solid phase and here is what's not working for me: Egg salad (sits way to heavy and turns me off..used to love egg salad ) Refried Beans Chilli only from houlihans ( so gross ) wendy's or homemade is sooo much better! Hard boiled eggs Here's what is working for me Deli ham Deli cheese Believe it or not I tried a teeny tiny chicken cutlet (2 oz) my step mom made and it went down beautifully ...I just chewed it extremely well Quest Protein bars Cooked tofu (Chinese style) from whole foods..my boyfriend got this rice dish that they made for him and he chose the spicy peanut sauce tofu as his meat and he gave me a little piece and it went down beautifully also lol..tofu is amazing and high in protein ???? so happy to finally be chewing food! Lol!

I am about 4 weeks out since surgery..my scale has not changed since last week..I am doing cardio at the gym and using light weights for my arms until the doctor gives me the okay to do a full workout..has anyone hit a plateau this early? I'm not even at the solid phase yet lol
-
I don't agree with your surgeon for saying that..that's how loose skin happens..my surgeon wanted me to exercise..rapid weightloss will give you loose skin unfortunately..I was down 24 lbs as of last week and that was my 3rd week post op..I talked to my dad who has had wls and he said its normal for that to happen..my step sister had my surgery in December and in January she hit a stall but she was also working out like a maniac..im taking it easy, doing 3lb weights for my arms and just 30 min of moderate cardio on the eliptical

I'm on day 8 of my clear liquid phase and so far it's gotten easier since my parents brought me home the broth from chicken soup from our favorite local diner...however, I'm still frustrated with diet drink choices...I'm usually an avid water drinker but I need some variety..has anyone had any issues with Bai5 drinks? They have 1 gram of sugar and 10 carbs and only 5 calories..my NUT said I can have anything diet drink as long as it's clear...what are your thoughts on that if you've had Bai5 drinks?

I hate not drinking while I eat.
bellaaa_vita replied to karinbuck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately you absolutely cannot drink while you eat...the reason being that water will lay on top of the food you consume and make it harder for your body to digest it and will also make things slide down better which will in turn make you eat more and take longer to get full...I eliminated drinking while eating months before surgery...it takes time getting used to it..I am 8 days post op...good luck and hang in there! -
I have to water everything down..today I am just doing water, SF jello, and homemade chicken soup broth for dinner with decaf chamomile tea
-
I'm an avid water drinker so anything sweet and aspartamey ( subsitute sweeteners) gives me a nasty taste in my mouth that turns my stomach..I have so much g2 but can't stand the taste anymore my parents drink crystal light ( a diff variety) and even those are too sweet..
-
Bai5 is local for me...one of my dad's customers owns the company so we get free stuff all the time lol..as far as protein goes..I'm going to get a clear liquid protein today..I cannot have full liquids till Monday..I am 8 days post op
-
Anytime, please keep sipping because you will get dehydrated and can lose a lot of hair that way..keep me posted!

They prefer*

The prefer clear liquids because they want my sleeve to fully heal before putting something heavier in my sleeve such as protein shakes...my NUT told me that it's not the protein i need right now, it's carbs to give me energy so diluted juices and diluted Gatorade and I feel like bai5 would be a good choice because of the low carbs that are in it
-
Sounds like you're doing awesome! Keep up The good work I am 8 days out, 5'5 started at 256 and I'm down to 240...im still on the clear liquid phase but I have more energy now than I have ever had in my life..and my pain and discomfort has diminished...I'm going to try the gas-x strips tho and see if that helps with my gas pain that travels to my back and chest up to my left collar bone..I'm also going to try the palmers firming cream! So excited!

I'm want to follow this phase as close as I can because I don't want to mess up my progress and delay the full liquid/soft food/puréed phase...

What you wished you had known before being sleeved?!?!?
bellaaa_vita replied to butterflypinup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wish I had known that 14 days of clear liquids would send me into an emotional roller coaster..the best thing I can suggest is keep yourself occupied and walk as much as you can..I am day 8 post surgery and I've been couped up in my house...I am on clear liquids till Monday and I have to say it's very depressing..atleast with my case...I'm a very social person..when im around or out with people and my boyfriend, we bullshit and eat..so with cutting those two things out cold turkey, it's been really hard on me..thank god my family, friends, and boyfriend have been supportive -
Two weeks of clear liquid ????????????
bellaaa_vita posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Okay, so I had the VSG on Monday the 24th...I'm on clear liquids for 14 days...I'm on day 7...I'm slowly losing my sanity because i can't leave the house until my post op visit this Thursday..I've tried a few different broths which nauseated me so much (beef and chicken boullion cubes boiled in water and low sodium organic chicken broth) the smell and taste turns my stomach like you wouldn't believe...have any of you had strained wonton soup broth without the stuff in it? Or even homemade/diner chicken soup broth strained? Please let me know..I'm dyinnng over here lol! I'm so miserable ???????????????? -
Two weeks of clear liquid ????????????
bellaaa_vita replied to bellaaa_vita's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Update! My parents brought home chicken soup from the diner, I strained it through a very fine hole strainer and it went down beautifully and I am satisfied for the first time since surgery lol...I think the next 7 days of clear liquids will be more tolerable -
Frustrated and tired of string cheese!
bellaaa_vita replied to Darianna75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh okay, well as long as everything is okay..I'm so annoyed that they didn't put you on clear liquids on post op..I'm on a 14 day clear liquid phase..and so far no nausea or vomitting...this wouldn't have happened if they did things the way they did with me..I'm sorry that you had to suffer that way! I hope it gets easier! Good luck, doll -

Beautiful! You can't even tell that you had weightloss surgery! Your new body is flawless..it looks like you were never a bigger girl! I hope I look as good as you when I lose all my weight! ( I'm 7 days post sleeve) -
It's the anesthesia purging it's self out of your body..it's normal, that's why you have to keep sipping all day on fluids to flush it out, the more you drink the quicker it will flush out. Anesthesia unfortunately stays in your body up to a year..

bellaaa_vita replied to Darianna75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Darianna, let me ask you this...how long were you supposed to be on clear liquids for? And did you follow it closely? The reason I'm asking is because there is a reason why there are phases. Basically after surgery, your stomach is swollen and fragile. The clear liquids phase is meant to allow you to recieve hydration while allowing your sleeve to heal and reduce in swelling. If you don't follow the rules that they give you, unfortunately, I hate to say it, but you have a big problem on your hands... -

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, my NUT just called me back ( feels so funny to call my nutritionist a nut haha) and she said yes to the broth from wonton soup and homemade/restaurant chicken soup! Thank you baby Jesus! Lol! And yes I can have SF ice pops xo -
Emotional Eaters.....How are you coping?
bellaaa_vita replied to MissNya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been very depressed since ive come home from the hospital ...I always ate when I was bored or idle...yesterday I cried for the first time because I'm day 7 of my 14 day post op Clear liquid diet..i was sleeved on 3/24/14...this is probably the worst emotional roller coaster I have ever been through in my entire life..and I've already been taking anti anxiety/depression medication for years...there is nothing more aggravating then thinking of food when you can't have it..im not physically hungry, but emotionally I'm starving..I tried box and boullion broth and both turn my stomach from smell and taste...you're not alone love...hang in there! -
I was sleeved on 3/24/14 and I've experienced hiccups once or twice but it was because I took small sips too close together...I didn't wait in between..what I have experience a lot is pain in my chest and back from gas I believe..I just walk it off until the pain goes away...just walk walk walk and you will see that you will feel more better and you will progress quicker! The 4 days that I was in the hospital, I walked several times each day and i strongly believe it helps more than anything, even with pain and soreness...good luck!
