Ok guys I'm starting to get a little frustrated here. I've stayed the same weight for the last 4 days. What's up with that?! I'm only a week out from the surgery. Could I really be hitting a wall already? Does my body think it's starving and holding on to everything? I've lost 26 lbs since starting the pre-op diet 10/29. That's a lot of weight in less than a month, this I know. I'm trying to be realistic here. I just thought I would lose like crazy on the post-op and then it would level off once I started mushies. Anyone else experiencing this? Know of anyone else experiencing this? Words of wisdom? Encouragement? Anything would be helpful at this point...... I'm seriously bummed about it.:cry

Plateau already???? Can't be....
dream'n2bthin replied to dream'n2bthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I can feel my port but I don't have any extra "belly buttons" It's kind of weird. It freaked me out a little the first time I touch it. Well maybe more like grossed me out. LOL Ok it's official. My weight hasn't budged in a week. However.....I wore a pair of jeans today that I haven't worn in about a year. They were a little snug around the middle but they FIT. :whoo:I think Mollybrown might be right. Maybe everything just catching up. Inches lost are just as great as pounds. I'll take it! -

It's a sad sad day:think....the battery in my scale died this morning. I guess I can't feed my obsession today. There's no way I'm stepping foot in Wal-Mart today! Maybe I should take this as a sign that I need to get over my scale obsession. Anyone else get on it like 3 times a day??? I think I'm in OCD hell! LOL Molly - no I'm not doing any exercising yet. The doc said not to start any program until I'm 3 weeks out. Lizzie - I don't wanna be in bandster hell. You can have it back! OMG what's it going to be like when I start mushies.....Good grief! I'll be so glad when my metabolism catches up to all these changes. -
Tracy, sure wish I would have know about that drug. I would have asked for it. I was so sick after surgery. They kept me overnight since I couldn't stand up without turning white and feeling like I was going to pass out. Today is much better. No more nausea and no pain except where the port is - feel like I've done like a thousand sit ups LOL Congratulations on your surgery!

I started the pre-op diet officially yesterday. Protein shakes all day and low fat & carb dinner at night - must be no bigger than the size of my hand. I've been doing it off and one since Monday but yesterday was the big starting day. 2 weeks to go!!! :whoo: I have a question. Is anyone else having stomach cramps?

Getting banded in November, Reality Setting In!
dream'n2bthin replied to rumpid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erenne - CONGRATS on the approval! :whoo: No I haven't really started my diet yet. I'm trying to replace one meal a day with a shake. Slowly trying to ease into it. Pre-op starts Monday. I thought I would be dreading it but I'm actually looking forward to it. I'll probably think different come Tuesday when I'm starving.... My doc didn't give me a certain amount to lose but I would love to get off 15 or so before the big day. Are you going to start exercising when you start the pre-op? I figure this is my week to be fat and lazy and next week starts the beginning of the rest of my new skinny life. I won't ever have to look at those numbers on the scale again! -
New here- Surgery date 11/27/07
dream'n2bthin replied to gabeekeeper's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Raynae. Try the low carb and exercise. Walk 30 minutes a day or something. When I did that in the past I droped 40lbs in like 3 months. Of course as soon as I started eating carbs again I gained and then some. Oh you could also try replacing one of your meals a day with a protien shake. I did that last week and lost 4 lbs. GOOD LUCK! -
Getting banded in November, Reality Setting In!
dream'n2bthin replied to rumpid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm being banded on the 14th. For some reason I'm not really nervous about actually being banded. What I'm really really really nervous about is the recovery. I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain. starryeyed - I feel ya! I keep waiting for a call telling me they're going to change my surgery date -
I have a bad habit of jumping into things with full force and then getting bored or I fall off the "wagon" and never get back on. So in an effort to change this pattern I felt like it would be a good idea the start the pre-op diet now slowly. Anyone else like that? I 'm drinking 1 unjury shake a day. I'm amazed that I lost 4 lbs this week. :faint: I guess it's an eye opener as to how many calories I'm really consuming in a day. Can't wait to see what happens when I really start the pre-op diet 2 wks prior to surgery. Oh and is anyone else having trouble getting Water in. I'm haveing an aweful time of it. Suggestions would be helpful. I know that this IS a habit I really need to get into.

Hi you guys! I'm new to this site and haven't posted much but I've been reading and learning a whole lot. There's so much info here and I'm so grateful that there are so many people willing to share their experiences. I think I'm well prepared to take this journey. That being said.....I got the insurance letter today. I'm approved!!! :clap2: I just felt like I had to share with you all. It's such a great feeling. I mean to know that soon I'm going to be watching the scale go down instead of up. HA! Does mine even go in that direction? Anyway, according to the letter my surgery is on the 19th. I'm going to call the surgeons office on Monday to confirm that. Ugh that reminds me, I'm going to have to start the dreaded pre-op diet by Friday. So NOT looking forward to that! Oh well, it will all be worth it in by surgery day. Well, thanks for sharing in my excitement. I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Kerri & M - Good luck you to both of you. Keep me posted on your progress!

hey Pamela. I think my surgery is going to be on the 19th at least according to the letter I got from the insurance co yesterday. I'm calling the surgeons off Monday to confirm. I have BCBS federal too. Isn't it great! I didn't have any problems getting approved with them either. I think, after reading some of the problems people have had on this website, we're the lucky ones. Hey did they approve for you to stay several nights in hospital? According to my letter I'm approved for "inpatient acute" care from the 19th - 22nd. Just curious. Oh and I've been to Moultrie many many times. I'm actually from Jacksonville, FL. I just moved to TX with my hubby a few months ago. Keep up the great work. 31 lbs That's awesome! :clap2: Buttercup76 - good luck with you approval process. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you! Pennie -

Hi Georgia Girl! I too have PCOS. I'm not banded yet but when I talked to my surgeon about it, he said in his experience most women with PCOS start ovulating after a loss of about 50lbs. Of course I was totally excited about this. My hubby and I have been trying to get preg. for about a year with no luck. He did request that I start back on BC again because he'd rather I waited until I've been banded for at least 12-18 months before we start trying again. Just to give the body time to heal and adjust to my smaller stomach. What did your surgeons say about it? -
laurend - you're right in a sense the media does report on it but these celebrities know what they are doing. The know that everything they say will get printed somewhere. However, I do agree with you that not all celebrities are like that and yes they are hounded. Some are smart and choose to keep their personal and political opinions to themselves.

Haven't you figured it out yet?! They are brilliant. They can memorize a script. Oh and someone pays them lots of money to do it. What a con. LOL I'm so tired of their opinions being shoved down my throat. It's so annoying.

I'm fat because of lack of will power. For reasons unknow to me, I can't seem to stick to any diet. Some how I always lose about 20lbs and then I give up. I'm hoping all this will change once I get banded.

A few weeks ago I happended upon Wal-Mart's version of Crystal Light in the grape flavor. It's awesome! Tastes just like grape Kool-Aid to me.

Hi, I'm new! Also, question about TTC and lap band
dream'n2bthin replied to RainyDay's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Rainyday, I went in for my consult on Friday and one of my biggest concerns was having kids. My husband and I don't have any yet and would like to start a family sometime in the very near future. It's not like I'm getting any younger! Anyway, the surgeon suggests or rather prefers that his patients get to goal before TTC. Although, I have read that you can start trying 12-18 months after the surgery. As for the insurance, I'm not really sure. I think it varies with your plan/ins co. I hope that helps a little with your decision. GOOD LUCK! -
Hi. I'm new to all this.....and I have a couple of questions. I went for my consult yesterday and all went well. It appears that this all will be a pretty easy process for me (I hope). I have BCBS Federal and according to the doc, I'm fat enough to meet the minimum requirements. Wait!!! Is that a good thing....I'm fat enough to do something? Ha that's a first! Anyway, my only requirements from the surgeon is labs and a sleep test. Has anyone out there had one of these done? What should I expect? Could this put the skids on my surgery? Also, I have to start a high Protein low carb mostly liquid (2-3 shakes & 1 sm meal/day) diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. I'm really picky and don't really care for most of the replacement shakes. They always taste powdery or metallic. Can anyone make any suggestions to some really, really tasty low carb drinks? I'm prepared to suck it up and get over it but if I don't have to...well you know. Thanks for the help.

Just beginning....questions
dream'n2bthin replied to dream'n2bthin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mimiinjax, I'm originally from Jax. I miss home so much. Just move to TX about 4 month ago. Can't wait to go home at Christmas! What's the name/location of that restaurant? Just curious. Think I'll give it a try when go home.
