Lizziee- I cannot imagine have to wait there for hours when you thougt you were going in way earlier. How nerve racking! I am so glad you finally had it done and are doing well.
-
Holly- you made me laugh. I was picturing you trying to blend up a steak or something. And that was too funny that you thought your daughter was talking about taco's. I haven't been too hungry this last week, but today all of the sudden the head hunger is getting me. Only a few more days now for both of us! Yeah! Are ya getting nervous?
-
MISTYDTX- thanks for the info. I am more worried about the feeling sick part than even the pain. I had one surgery before, and I was asleep, but it was not general anesthesia. I woke up and I was extremely nauseaus! So I am hoping that won't be the case with a new band in.

I noticed you commented that you were in a lot of pain right when waking up after surgery. You are the first person out of the group to mention that. How bad was the pain? Was it the shoulder/chest gas pain or incision pain?

TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!
Carrot06 replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dylan- so glad you and your wife came through great and are on the mend. Thanks for giving a little more detailed description. Everyone just says had surgery and having gas pain- they don't really give the details of before, right after, and then once home. Us nervous nellies want more details. I am glad it all goes fast- you said you didn't have a lot of time to be nervous. (Cause I am nervous!) -

Renee- yeah for you! The surgery is over and a new life awaits. Though sore, I am glad you are doing well otherwise. We look forward to hearing about your progress. -
Rastis100- I was glad to read your post and that you are doing so well. All of these wonderful stories of people getting their band and doing good post op is encouraging since I have my surgery next week.

TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!

Shermy58- So happy for you that everthing went smoothly. I get banded next week. It sounds like the main advice from previous banders is to walk walk walk for the gas pain thing. It sounds like that part is painful, but doesn't last long for most if they get a lot of walking in. I hope it lets up for you soon. And don't forget to keep sipping the water. How is your pain level otherwise besides the gas? Are the incisions or port hurting? -
Lets get this PARTY started! Oct 07!

I am not required to do the optifast. I have to do two weeks of a low calorie diet. (lean protein, vegetables, a little fruit, and water.) Each surgeon has different requirements for the pre-op. -
Holy Moly- Nervous/2-week Diet/ Ahhhh!
Carrot06 replied to Carrot06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Coo- I know you can make it through the pre-op diet. The first 2 1/2-3 days were rough. But it gets better after that. Due to the kinds of things eating, I started to lose most of the cravings, be hungery less, and want to eat less and less often. I would recommend that you call your surgeon and get specific instruction on the pre-op diet- exactly what you should and shouldn't eat and how much. My program has a dietician that gives you a list of what you can eat and how much. I have to do it for two weeks. From the boards I can see different doctors vary on what kind of pre-op diet required. Make sure and right away get the exact specifics so you will be ready for sugery. -
Day 4, post-op...and I'm craving solids!

Jena- hang in there. You can do it! It sounds like from reading other newly banded people's posts that they are going through similar emotions. Those who have been banded for a while say it gets better. So don't give up. It will get easier. -
Banded 10/1. New to this board!

So glad you found us! There is lots of support here. Keep us posted on your progress. -
Marcy- Welcome! I am so glad everything went well with your surgery. We look forward to having you with us! Rest up and enjoy this new life.
-
Debbie- it sounds like you are doing wonderful! Great job on losing so much pre-op weight! No gas pains? No nauseau?

Well it sounds like you should be banded by this point. I really hope everything went well for you. I am sure it did, and you are on your way to a new life! Let us know how it was, what to expect, pain, etc. when you feel up to it. I am rooting for you and a speedy recovery! -
Tara- I am so glad for you that everything went welll and that you are feeling good. It is comforting to hear people coming through the surgery so wonderfully as you did.

How are you all doing on the pre-op? I swear- after that first 3 days it has gotten sooo much better. I have been eating less and less the closer I get to surgery. All of this protein and no carbs besides what is in fruits, vegetables, and chicken are really causing me to not have the cravings. I have lost 8 1/2 pounds so far. -
Yeah- we are so happy for you! Rest up and let us know when you can how everything was. You are starting a new chapter today!

How did our October 1st banders do?
Carrot06 replied to Kim_in_SF's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
lizzie- I am worried about the same thing as you- the being "put under" part. The thought of being in a state where someone has to literally breathe for me scares me! I have surgery next Wednesday. Let us know how yours goes. It sounds like you are getting mentally ready, and also the supplies and house all ready. Best of luck! Oh- and I am sure any food we can eat will taste good. I am dreading the thought of mushing up food- but when you haven't been eating I bet anything will do. -
As I was reading the posts for people being banded this first couple of days I found myself getting so nervous for us all. I am not banded until next week, but it seems so close. Surgery is scary... But after reading the prayer- I had a little boo-hoo and feel better. Bless you all- we will be great.

People who have Eroded ... I am FREAKING OUT!
Carrot06 replied to kari jo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for giving me some reassurance. I know the program I am in they don't see erosions. Hopefully they have the surgery more perfected now and know a lot more tricks to help prevent it. I know my program is very careful about giving fills too. So I hope all goes well. Yikes- the thought of having it removed after all of that! I don't want to do that. Especially when I am self pay. I am going to follow the rules to a T and hopefully that coupled with the skills of the doctor, it all turns out great. -
People who have Eroded ... I am FREAKING OUT!
Carrot06 replied to kari jo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Now you have me freaked out... I get banded for the first time the week after next. The program I am going through has not had erosions. The director of the program said she has seen one erosion, and it was when she was in another state training. I know carbonation/soda can cause erosion. What all can cause an erosion? -
Post Oct 07 surgery well-wishes here!
Carrot06 replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so happy for you all! I don't have mine until the week after you all- and just wishing you all luck is making me have butterflys! I can't believe it is almost here. Our lives are starting over- it is going to be so wonderful. Know we are all thinking of you and wishing you a smooth surgery day and recovery. Let us know as soon as you feel up to it how it all went. Hugs!!!! -
I think you are very pretty! If you are pretty now, imagine a few months after the surgery! You are on your way girlie!
-
Lafs- that is too funny that your husband is telling everyone you got a boob job. I was just joking with my friends that I wish some of the weight could come off the rest of the body, but move up to the chest area.
