    Question About The Ap Band

That's a good point, esummerset. My doctor said with my AP they didn't fill it at the time of surgery..something about it being easier to get it around the stomach and snapped into place. I just got my first fill yesterday, about five weeks later. 3cc's. They will put 1cc in every two weeks if need be. I suppose after snapping it into place they could put in some fill after, but by then they probably figure your stomach has been messed with enough. :rolleyes

    First Fill horror story!

When I had my surgery the doctor put the port at the top of my abdomen right under the breast in the middle. You can run your hand over it as it sticks out like a button. When I read about people having so many troubles I wonder why all doctors don't put the ports with easy access like that. It would seem to me to be easier for everybody. When I got my first fill I told him I had heard about people getting their ports placed down around their belly buttons and stuff and I know with ME...they would never find it there. He said with as many fills as he does, he doesn't have the time to be spending 15 minutes with each person digging around for it, so I guess that makes sense to me...:cry

    slippage and erosion

I talked to my doctor today during my first fill and asked about slippage. He said they pull a piece of your stomach up over the band to hold it into place and stitch it in. He said they've done tons of surgeries and have never (so far :rolleyes) had any slippages or erosions.

    cheating on PREOP DIET

It's hard to stick to that pre-op diet. I must admit...I had my surgery 9/26 and I didn't stick to it well..ok...but not perfect. I was worried I was going to cause a problem in the surgery but he did it in less than an hour with no complications. No problems. (he didn't say so anyway:rolleyes) He coulda had to move a monstrous liver for all I know...j/k.:eek Anyway..just do the best you can for your start and try not to worry if you weren't perfect.

If you have the AP lapband please respond

I went in for my first fill today. I asked what size band I had and he said the AP smaller band. When they did the surgery they didn't fill it at all. I see some doctors do. He put in 3 cc's today and you can go back every 2 weeks to get 1cc after that until you get there...better than once a month. That would seem like forever to finally get to that sweet spot. I had some soup for supper and feel full off of that..but will try the solid foods in a few days. He said sometimes 3cc's is enough, but I doubt it will be. :rolleyes

    Humiliation

Well...one thing I have learned in life..some people are just plain old rude. I can't believe that woman said that! Wow..what an meanie. I would never hurt someone's feelings, that's just ignorance to be that way. I say get the band, lose the weight...then tell HER if you see her again, maybe the band would work for her too since she's overweight..get her back. Good luck and keep smiling!!! :biggrin1:

If you have the AP lapband please respond

I have the large AP band. I get my first fill November 3rd. I have my full appetite back since surgery. Does anyone know about how much fill I will probably get with that band and how much it will help right away? I'm anxious to get started. :hungry: :cry
  9. Mine is at the very top of my stomach in the middle...right under the breast. It is very noticible. The skin is molded right over it, so you can see it clearly. I'm kinda glad because I know that getting fills (starting November 3rd) it won't be hard to find.

    Need help... daughter 16 & 300lbs

When I was researching about getting lapbanding done I searched out websites with testimonials. I came across a website with a 12 year old girl that had it done. I hadn't realized that younger people had lapband surgery done but when I saw this girl and what it did for her, I thought about how it COULD benefit younger people too.Lap Band Success Stories - Before & After - Hannah I hope this attached right..if not, copy and paste

    Question About The Ap Band

I was wondering if the new AP band already has some fill in it when placed? When I was at my first post op doctor visit I asked what kind of band and they said it was the Ap..16? something band that filled all the way around. I was just wondering now about a fill already during surgery. I go to the doctor for my first fill Nov. 2nd. Just curious. :cry

  17. It's so nice to be able to come to a place where people understand where you're coming from with your weight problems and make it easy for you to ask questions because they understand...I'm sure we all want to be treated with respect here and I'm sure everyone will understand. Thanks for that.

    1 day banded

:clap2:I got banded 9/26 too!! I got to go home the same day though. The doc gave me pain pills so they've been helping with the incision pain. Good luck to you and me on our new weightloss adventures!:clap2:
  19. I had band surgery on 9/26. Now that barium stuff to look at your stomach..now isn't that about the nastiest thing you've ever drank??!!:faint:

    Introducing myself...

Hi, I'm Wendy. I had banding done two days ago..9/26. I'm still trying to get used to the way to feed yourself and the feel of food going down. I'm really excited to start this journey of weight loss, not knowing what to expect and how the fills will change my eating later. This website is awesome! I have been in here reading the stories on everything that can happen and I can see that I will be spending a lot of time in here looking for helpful tips. :ranger: Thanks to everyone for being here for others like myself who need help starting out. :help:
