  1. I started my journey March 10, 2014 as surgery was complete that day. I had a lot of pain but the weight came tumbling off. So far 25 pounds down! I went from 4 diabetes pills to 1 per day and blood pressure went from avg of 140/90 to 110/73!!!!! I did develop a complication over the last 2 days and spent today in the ER while the doctors figured it out. I had developed an infection under the main incision. It was drained and I'm on some antibiotics for the next week. This is such an emotional roller coaster for me. I'm happy I did this but the pain and complication had me questioning everything. Has anyone else had these feelings? For me it's not the diet change as much as it is ups and downs emotionally due to the pain and complication I had.

    NO FUN!

I totally know where you are coming from. I had surgery 3/10/14 and started to heal. On 3/30 I went to the ER because my main incision area (I had laparoscopic) was bright red, warm to the touch, swollen, and painful. I had an infection under the skin. So my incision was reopened so it could drain. I followed up with my surgeon 2 days later and he had to open it wider to ensure it heals correctly and without issue this time. Now it has to heal as well from the inside out. On top of that bec it is rather deep I have to pack it with gauze and cover it each day. And I can't tell you enough how it freaks me out and I can hardly look at it. On top of all this, I am on 2 antibiotics which make me nauseas all day. I can hardly eat or drink. Even some anti-nausea meds are not helping. I have to keep the faith that this will pass and everything will be ok. You have to do the same! I have read more on this since experiencing this and we will get better soon. Just be patient and work through it. My success in all this has been losing 32 lbs so far! Good luck! You are not facing this alone!

Complications and no one seems to care!

Today I went to my surgeon who had to open it more and now I will need to pack it for a few weeks. What a pain! I am so glad I found your rant! Now I know that with some time and patience this will get better! I am so happy for you that you are doing better! Now let the weight roll off!!!!!!!

Complications and no one seems to care!

AHealthierMeIbside, You said you are healing now. How long did it take for you to get to the healing point? Were you in a lot of pain as you healed, especially at first? What was your course of treatment? I'm in a lot of pain since they opened the incision and packed it. I have a small dose of pain meds but it seems to only work for a few hours. Also I am taking 2 types of antibiotics. I just feel hopeless at this point and am questioning if I should have done this at all. Hopefully those thoughts and feelings go away soon! Thanks!

Complications and no one seems to care!

I am experiencing the same issue with infection. I went to the ER yesterday and have my surgeon follow-up tomorrow. I'm in so much pain and nothing is helping. If I get any good valuable info tom I will be sure to share!

    Bumpy Road but making progress

Sounds like we are all on our way just with little hiccups along the way. I appreciate everyone responding because I felt so alone in feeling this way! Keep our heads up and we will be better before we know it!

    Bumpy Road but making progress

Thanks for the encouragement!!!! It's been tough and I keep saying "a year from now I won't look back." How's everything gone so far for you? I know it's painful. Have you had your first follow up yet?
