I totally understand. When I started this journey I had hoped to get down to size 12 (started as a 22) and now 15 months later I am wearing a size 6. I know what a size 6 is and that I am wearing it but I do not at all feel like I am a size 6. I still look around the room and feel like I am the largest person. When I see someone that I think is a nice size I ask my husband how I compare to them. The mental part is just as hard of a battle as the physical. Not sure how to get past it - I guess time and positive self talk - but it's hard to change a life long self image. Until I can see myself as I am, I will depend on the scale and how my clothes fit to know where I am. Congrats on your success!

How are the ones who got sleeved the first week in april?
Abbycat replied to Tammylb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
April 1 was my day. I haven't had any real problems, just some "learning" experiences on what to avoid and learning when to stop eating. I have become a regular exerciser and feel great. Down 100 pounds. Not sure what my goal will be - maybe another 20 pounds. I too have become a big fan of thrift shops...buy cheap, wear a month or two and donate them back and buy a smaller size. Life is good! -
Do you tell people you had Weight Loss Surgery?
Abbycat replied to nolongerhere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband is the only person that knows about my surgery. I also hate attention and when people ask how much I have lost I simply say "that is not a question I will answer". No one has asked if I have had surgery probably because I have lost and regained weight so many times. The surgery has taken be lower than any other attempt of course and when someone says something about losing so much weight I say "you know I am always working on it...reducing sugars and carbs". Good luck to you! . -
Sleeved April 1. So excited to see a one in front of my weight this morning!! 53 pounds down...about half way to goal.

How soon did you return to work?
Abbycat replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on a Tuesday afternoon and was back to work the following Monday - desk job with no lifting. I was tired the first week and basically did nothing but rest in the evenings but no problems. GOOD LUCK! -
Healing with a 2 year old?
Abbycat replied to GottaDoSomethin''s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
keep a pillow on your tummy whenever you are sitting or lying down. Never know when there could be a surprise hug...or visit from a cat or dog. -
I live near Topeka and had my surgery at Tallgrass on April 1, 2014. Received great care and had little pain. Surgery on a Tuesday and back to work on Monday. First month weight came off quickly but has slowed drastically which is very disappointing. Trying to focus on exercising more and getting my Water in....which is very hard to do.

I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?
Abbycat replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for sharing. Very motivational to those of us just starting this journey. I am two months post surgery. First month weight dropped easily but only two pounds in the second month....a little discouraged but reading your story and seeing your photos gave my spirits a boost! -
Two weeks out and so far so good. I am finding it is very easy to overdo things... No pain but can get really tired and weak. The scale is moving in the right direction and I am so happy I did this! Hope my fellow April 1s are doing well!
