How did you determine your "goal weight"?
hisandhersleeves posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How did you all determine your goal weight? My surgeon never told me a specific number so I looked at the BMI chart to see what the range for healthy is and made that my goal. I'm 5'10" and currently weigh 195 and my goal (according to said BMI chart) is 165. I've been at my current weight since the middle of November so I'm wondering if this is it for me? Has anyone else hit a never-ending plateau and decided this must be it? -

Thanks for all the responses!...I guess I should have added to my original post that my 1 year surgery date is March 14th and I've lost a total of 85 pounds...so I'm a "slow loser"...I'm going to keep plugging away at it...30 pounds doesn't seem that far to go seeing how far I've come, but like some of you've said the scale just isn't moving like it used to. -

Ugh, so disappointed with my holiday weight gain...
hisandhersleeves posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi and Happy New Year! I hope the holidays were good for everyone...I was wondering if anyone else gained over the holidays? I am a teacher so I've been home for two weeks now and have gained 6 pounds!!! I realize that being home, I eat way more than if I was working and of course I'm eating all the wrong foods, but I didn't think it would be so easy to gain 6 pounds in 2 short weeks! Looking for a way to jump start my weight loss again, any suggestions? -

I am still plugging away at this...my weight loss has come to a crawl but I haven't been exercising at all since the weather has been colder. I still have about 40 pounds until goal so I'm hoping slow and steady wins the race! -

So how did everyone manage over Thanksgiving? I usually weigh myself on Fridays but I decided to skip this week...LOL...I have recently hit "onederland" and didn't want to ruin my high after just one week! Hope everyone is still doing well! -

I just yesterday went through my closet and got rid of all my old clothes...I haven't fit in most of them for some time now but couldn't bring myself to give them away...I am so scared that I will gain this weight back...I still have another 40 pounds to my goal weight...not sure that I'll make it there by the one year mark, but as long as I'm still losing I'm happy. -

Yeah, working out just might be what I need...in the summer I was riding my bike a lot but now that I'm back to work, I have little time to do it, plus it's getting cold. Maybe I need to suck it up and use the elliptical/clothes rack in my room. So hate exercising like that--much rather be doing something physical. -

Anyone else losing at a snail's pace?!!! I swear I've been trying to lose these 10 pounds to finally get into "onederland" for more than two months now! I really thought this would be the week but nope, not yet...LOL...I'm happy that I am able to eat and still be losing but come on, it's SO close! Just thought I'd share my frustrations...anyone with some tricks up their sleeves? -

Well I'm still losing but it's hard...I really need to stay on track with the foods I eat otherwise I stall...definitely not like the earlier days! -

I hear ya! I'm down 60 pounds but haven't lost any in two weeks! I weigh about 12 more pounds than you and I too wonder if I will ever get to a "normal" bmi weight. It just seems impossible when even if you eat even the slightest bit off diet you gain. -

Ability to drink alcohol post-op, your experiences?
hisandhersleeves replied to PlzCoolerMe's topic in The Guys’ Room
I'm 4 1/2 month out and I can drink without a problem (yes drunk quicker for sure, but it's getting better with time)...my drink of choice is gin and tonic and I stir it to get some of the bubbles out, plus you are sipping over time so it's not that bad. So cheers--Keep on partying!!! -

Yeah, I just cut all my hair off and added lots of layers...sadly, I have naturally curly hair, so short hair + layers + summer humidity = disastrous hair (even if it's thinning)! I feel your pain, not looking too cute these days. I started taking Biotin too just this week...not hopeful though. -

See SAGREEN07...maybe we are right in line with where we need to be...it's nice to see more people showing their numbers that aren't the exceptions to our March club. -
THE LIQUID DIET COMPLAINING/SUPPORT LOUNGE
hisandhersleeves replied to V.V.V.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Syntrax Nectar in Fuzzy Naval...it's considered a clear liquid protein and you can mix it with any amount of water to your liking. It's the consistency of orange juice so it's not thick and gritty like the chocolate shakes. I'm 4 months out and I still drink two scoops a day...it's really not that bad. -

Yes, I had pizza tonight for dinner (4 months out and this isn't the first time I've splurged)! It's for a special treat of course, and I haven't finished a slice yet, but you will be able to eat it again. -
Question for those that met their goals...
hisandhersleeves posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
How long did it take you to reach your goal weight? I'm at 4 months and only about 45% to my goal weight. I feel like a lot of the people's posts that I've read had them reaching near goal at 6 months. I'm thinking that's not happening for me in 2 months time. -

Ikr...smh....I wonder what we can be doing to get there? I could definitely exercise more though :-/ I don't want to kill myself exercising just to lose the weight quicker because I know I will not maintain the routine once I go back to work (I'm a teacher so I'm off for the summer). Also, I think it will be easier to not snack during the day once September rolls around...right now I'm home with my two young kids that eat every 5 minutes...they're not helping my cause! -

I think we're in the slow loser club...I'm at 56 at 4 months...my husband (sleeved the same day) is down 90 pounds! I hear we're not supposed to compare ourselves with others...so I keep telling myself. -

I think that's what makes it hard for me...my husband and I were sleeved on the same day and he's lost almost 90 pounds and I'm plugging away at 56 pounds! So I am fortunate to have great support throughout this, but it naturally leads us to compare our progress and I am a competitive person...LOL...so this is killing me! -
