That's awesome!!! I'm down 55 pounds and my 4 months was on the 14th so you're doing great.

No I don't have blood pressure problems...I think I eat enough and get my vitamins so I have no idea, but it's a lousy feeling.

Yeah, let me know! I too have an appointment next week so hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Is anyone else experiencing moments of light headedness when they get up from sitting or laying in bed? I'm afraid I may pass out one of these times. Any thoughts on the causes?

Hey March Sleevers, how many pounds a week are you usually losing? I feel like my weight loss has come to a crawl yet I'm only about 40% to my goal!

I agree with the stalls...this is the first week in the last 3 that I've lost weight...but I've learned not to get discouraged because the weight does eventually come off.

So I had my surgery March 14 weighing 281 and just reached 50 pounds lost...I feel like I should have lost more by now considering my husband had surgery the same day and he is down 75 pounds (but he doesn't eat, plus he weighed more than me to start)...where are you all at with your weight loss? Just trying to gain some perspective.

    12lbs in 5days

First stall for me was at 3 weeks...it was depressing! I think I'm into stall #2 since I'm at the same weight for almost 3 weeks now (but I'm at 3 months post op)...had a good run, and hopefully this too will pass.

Boy I wish I was losing that much! I had my surgery 3/14 and have list 44 pounds total... But recently I've only been losing 1/2 pound each week if that...sadly I'm still 60 pounds from goal so it's going to be a long haul unless something drastically changes.

3 weeks post op & no protein yet !

My husband and I had surgery on the same day and he had a hernia repaired and I didn't. I had no issues drinking or eating and he was miserable. It took him at least a month and a half before he could drink anything more than a few sips and protein shakes were not even an option, he would get terrible pains and end up vomiting. However, IT DOES GET BETTER! He is 11 weeks out and has no problem eating or drinking. I don't remember the exact week that things started turning around for him but I want to say around 2 months. Keep hydrated as best you can and just know that things will get better each day.

My doctor said something similar...it's the most protein with the fewest calories...otherwise you are eating not because you're hungry but because you're trying to get 80+ grams of protein in...it's so interesting how very different the protocols are from doctor to doctor.
  12. My husband and I did it together so we had to be fancy with our appointment scheduling so one of us could be with our kids. We started January 21st for a consultation and we were scheduled for surgery that same day, March 14th. Doctor said it was up to us to get the needed clearances 2 weeks prior to surgery...and so we spent most of February at doctors' offices, but we made it. Total out of pocket expenses was only the $10 copayment for each of the specialists we needed to see prior to surgery, we have Blue Cross NJ...they approved my husband right away, but denied my surgery originally and I guess my surgeon submitted other information because the eventually approved me just two day before!... Thus far, we've spent more on special vitamins and protein drinks than the actual surgery...LOL...but so worth it.

Unfortunately, no reaction at all! I am afraid to even step on the scale this morning...maybe I'll wait until tomorrow.

I have fallen off the wagon! I had a milkshake tonight--albeit half of a small one, but I did it, and I feel SO GUILTY!

    March 2014 Sleevers

I can totally relate! I have lost 40 pounds and can still fit in my same clothes...it's a blessing and a curse being tall...I can gain weight with little notice and unfortunately the same for losing it.
  16. SUPER EXCITED to have hit the 40 pound loss mark! Looking at the graph really shows how much weight was lost in a short amount of time. I am excited to see what's yet to come. Any others reaching milestones?
  17. hisandhersleeves

    Just thought I'd share...

    That's great!
  18. So not only haven't I lost any weight this week...I've actually managed to gain 4 pounds! Now I will say that I lost the 4 pounds last week due to a stomach bug but honestly to gain it ALL back?!!! And to add to it I am consumed with trying NOT to eat...I thought I'm not supposed to be hungry?!...But yet I am...and I thought that a small amount of food would fill me up--well it does but only for an hour or so and I'm back to wanting to eat again! I am fighting to stay around 800 calories and yet there are people on here saying they are having a hard time getting in 600! I've done some pretty embarrassing and down right stupid things in my life, but having my stomach removed to lose weight--only to end up still fat has got to top the charts! EPIC FAIL that I am stuck with for the rest of my life.

Why did your doctor take you off of the shakes?

    March 2014 Sleevers

Yes, me too! I had my surgery on 3/14 and am down 26 pounds since surgery. I spent a good 3-4 weeks in the 250's but the 40's seem to be coming off much quicker. Hang in there...I find that exercising even for only 30 minutes helped move things along.

    Advil

Thanks...I took two and didn't seem to have a problem.
  22. hisandhersleeves

    Advil

So I know that Advil was off limits prior or surgery and after but for how long? I am 8 weeks post op and have the biggest headache...think it's safe?
  23. hisandhersleeves

This is WAY harder than I thought it would be...

Well thankfully I am out of my funk! Today marks 2 months since surgery and I have lost 36 pounds including my pre-op diet so I really cannot complain. I know it would have taken me a lot longer than 2 months to lose this much weight and I continue to lose. Thanks for your encouraging words and support while I had my pity party!
  24. hisandhersleeves

This is WAY harder than I thought it would be...

I have lost 25 since starting the pre-op diet march 4th...15 pounds since surgery, 6 weeks ago, March 14th.
  25. hisandhersleeves

This is WAY harder than I thought it would be...

Yes I am following the rules, and I am good during the day because I'm at work and don't have access to food other than my yogurt and cheese stick...but once I'm home it's a whole other story. I pick all night long...and the weekends are tough too...I have two young kids that eat all day long, which is ok for them, but not for me. And then the guilt I feel after I eat is sickening! I just can't deal with yet another weight loss failure--especially since people know that I went through surgery for this.
