Hmmm.... well I've been overweight since my teens. Even though I've lead a fairly active lifestyle it seems no matter what I've tried I'd lose 20 lbs, then gain 30 lbs back. Until 4 years ago I had no idea why this was happening and neither did my doctors. Finally I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Since my diagnosis my weight issues have gotten worse. So in August 2013, I started juice fasting. Yes, it worked well. I lost nearly 85 lbs. The problem came when I stopped in December. I rapidly started gaining the weight back. That's when I decided I'd had enough with dieting. I decided I'd find away to have the vsg. At the time I really didn't believe my insurance would approve it. Plus, I was scared:(. So I procrastinated. Then last month I was diagnosed with diabetes. I completely fell into a spiral of depression. I felt alone. Needless to say, I decided surgery was my best option to reboot. So I went for a consultation and got wonderful news. Not only did my insurance approve me they're covering me at a 100% . So now my journey has begun. I'm blessed to have the support of my parents, siblings, and a few friends.
I found bariatric pal while researching. To my amazement I discovered the most inspiring stories, people, and overall welcoming community. So I lurked for awhile, then decided to create an account:)
