Have you tried or considering telling yourself that you can only have your cheats AFTER you have had all of your Protein? How are you doing on Water? Instead of giving in to the cheat, get in 8 ounces of water first. Bottom lime, get back to basics, and keep your eye on your goals, playing with that baby now and seeing them graduate in 18 years while knowing you were there for every minute....

You've got this. If you still have your program materials, pull them out and read every bit again. Get back into your bariatric team. The patients who don't stay focused and involved are the ones who more often fail, and that is not you!!!! You still have your weight loss tool, you just need to tune it up get to work. You didn't have a baby to just lose control and not be the best Mom that you can be. Go back to your liquid, Protein focused diet for at least 3 days and jump-start the process. Last but most certainly not least, get some sleep!!!! It has to be incredibly hard with a little one but with proper sleep, you will be clearer and be able to make fetter choices, be it food or packing up the stroller and walking/jogging the neighborhood. You can do this and we are here to help, if we can.

    4th of July Challenge

Current weight 231.6 Goal weight 220.0
  4. I love the pros advice!! At 275 and a very pear shape, or shall I say bottom heavy, I would require a seatbelt extender on about a third of my flights, but never a double fare. When you set down, check the seatbelt, if it's snug at all, just get an attendant's attention and let them know you need an extension. As soon as the finish the inflight training, they will likely let you use the one they use as an example. Safe travels!!!

    Anyone else cold?

Insulation and metabolism. Loss of insulation was already explained, metabolism will slow as you loose weight, as the body shuts down and tries to conserve energy. I've experienced this in the past as I would lose weight, you may also notice weight loss slowing as your body's metabolism slows. Increase your physical activity to help warm you up, and keep your metabolism revving.

    Is this normal?

I had some soreness but I was on a prescription anti-inflammatory pre-surgery so I did suffer effects of going off those cold turkey. If you have swelling in any specific area or redness or tenderness to touch, please contact your Dr. There could be a possibility of blood clots if you are just post surgery.

    4th of July Challenge

Yea Bea on your successes and willingness to document theses challenges for us. Count me in!!!! May has been about the 230's for me so I expect June to be more about the 220's. My goal will be 220 by July 4th, but that may be a big stretch... Of course that's why this is a challenge....

    Do You Feel The Same

Totally different, but a new set of challenges. At 3 1/2 weeks, I was still recovering from surgery, so my energy was low or I would tire after spurts of activity and I was sore beneath my incisions. I was on thick liquid diet and already bored, but could not have eaten the solid foods that I thought that I wanted. I was just starting to see changes in my size, and even that was not fast enough. At ten weeks out, I've bagged and boxed 2 sizes of clothes, to ship out and never see again. I still struggle with food choices. At a conference this week, all meals were buffet style with lots of choices, and I wanted to try them all. I made myself miserable the first day but relearned the lesson that less is more. At this point, I don't think any foods are out because of the surgery and how my body would process them, but there are obviously better and worse choices. Quantity of food is significantly different than my past life, more in quantity than I could take in at 3 1/2 weeks, but not much, and I do not plan to stretch my sleeve. I would estimate that my max capacity is 4 oz of food at a setting, and that would make me full to uncomfortable for a long while. At this point, I no longer have physical restrictions, but I'm currently not in a set physical program. I know this will be key to accomplish my goals, but I struggle with getting started. This was a good question. If I can give any advice, it would be to please regard this as a changing process with many phases which will pass. Keep focused on your long-term goals. For me that is longer life in better health.

    March 2014 Sleevers

"Moms" will worry and fret and forget. I was raised with a Grandmom who was constantly offering a cookie with one hand then asking if I should be eating that cookie, cause I was chubby. And she was the diabetic one. Think like a duck and just let it go. It's hard enough to deal with the internal food things like seeing all the foods and wanting them regardless of knowing the new tummy is full after eating 3 oz. I've been at a conference this week with multiple daily buffets. Think I'm bothered by this? You bet!!!!

    Question on timeline

2.5 years. Yes, my Dr still had my records from my first visit, that long ago. I asked and he said it was not uncommon for patients to try again on their own after an initial consult. After I truly decided and went back in, it was 3 months from consult to surgery. My insurance required 3 month monitoring and I had my first weight loss consult that same day as well. My BMI was just at the required amount for no secondary conditions, but I also had high blood pressure as an additional factor.

Feeling like crap 1 week post op

It will get better!!, that said, sometimes a good rant will help too. Ask Dr about Mylanta. I found that in liquid would help that burning throat. Keep your Soups clear unless the Dr says otherwise and get a 2 oz measuring cup (1/4 cup). It will be your friend for a month or more. And again, it will get better!!

Everybody, I truly believe that our protein intake today is not only vital to weight loss, but will be vital to avoid hair loss!!!! Solids make it much easier to get in the protein but I'm still boosting with one shake a day.

    Pre-op diet - pantry necessities

I love the suggestions so far. I would add, do not over-buy. I am still doing this. A single Healthy Choice Soup is 3-4 or more servings for me post-op. I have more than a months supply in my pantry now. If you buy perishables, watch the expiration date. I threw out a bunch of yogurts for that reason as they expired before I could eat them. I have a bunch of Protein shakes that I will probably not use, as I've moved on and some I just can't stand anymore. As to baby food, applesauce with no sugar added was a friend of mine. I liked the ones with additional fruits, but watch for no added sugar. My blender was a better friend than buying a baby food alternative. Follow your Drs lists. Each Dr will have a slightly different program and progression. Be sure to let us know how this goes for you!!!

    March 2014 Sleevers

Sleevie, same with me and 18's. From a 22/24 and a couple of 26's, I'll take almost being able to wear 18's. Getting into is not the same as fitting into. Today saw two bags of old, too big clothes disappear from my closet. With the times my weight has changed and all of my clothes resources, I have plenty of clothes down to 18, but 16's will be all new. Fall is going to be expensive...

    One week Post Op

9 weeks out and no trouble with Mexican food. It just looks different now. I just finished my 1/2 cup of Healthy Choice chicken tortilla soup. My only problem was that I was eating too much soup because I wasn't measuring in advance of eating. It's so different to make a meal from 1/2 cup of anything. Good luck to both of you and welcome!!

    March 2014 Sleevers

Amasd, I bought a bottle of prune juice and Trader Joes cherry juice. When things are not moving for a couple of days, I mix about 7 oz prune to 1 oz cherry. This has done the trick by morning each time. I have not had to bring out the big guns yet. There are 'slimming teas" with senna leaves that will bust up concrete.... :-) Taylor, my Flintstones chewable with iron have been working great for me.
