Finally see results!
Susan-031314 replied to Erica517's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Awesome pictures and great progress!!, just wish you were smiling like you did in the before shots. Fewer pounds, and so much more to smile about. Fantastic job!! -
215.4 today, a great week on the scale!!!!

As others have said, congrats on your weight loss journey so far!! I am certainly glad that you are getting the help needed. I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but with your addictive personality, could you try to focus that on walking, running or working out? If that took hold, it might help increase weight loss, improve your mood with increased endorphins and also get you a little further away from your other triggers. I know it's nigh-eve, but it's a thought. Keep up the good work on you and the relationship thing will work itself out.

gallbladder
Susan-031314 replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My gallbladder is long gone. I think it was diet related. I would eat good old southern fried fats, then I would diet drastically on low carb high protein diets. I think mine went bad after years do this routine. Instead of stones, my Dr said it was full of sludge. Regardless, good riddance. I felt so much better with it gone. I hope your procedure goes well and you heal quickly. Only bad news I have for you is that I was more sore after that surgery, than I was after my sleeve. Take care!!!! -
Tape strips?
Susan-031314 replied to Sunnyskies2283's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first post op was at 7 days. Same as others I was told they'd come off at 10-14 days. I helped them after 10, but nothing to aggressive. Healed well at that point and I was ready for them to be gone!!! I had a drain that was about a week behind the other incisions. -
I was getting a little dizzy upon standing a little while back. I am under a PCP's care for blood pressure. Since he have cut me to half dose on my BP meds, I have not had any dizziness upon standing. Do either of y'all have known blood pressure issues?

219.0 today. Time to refocus...
-
My sleeve was on 3/13, I'm still currently losing 1.5 to 2 lbs per week, 50+ since surgery date. I can go days with no movement in the scale, then drop more than a lb overnight. My lifestyle is very sedate and I target 800 calories and 60 grams protein. I have some days up to 1,000 calories. I did aqua-aerobics for a month and had better results. I've had some hair loss, but I started with a bit to spare. 5,000 units of Biotin are taken with my daily Flintstones vitamins.

I know there are other causes of nausea, but my only problem was when I was transitioning into solids and I thought I could have solids in soup. I found that I was eating way too much in volume than my teeny tiny tummy could handle, not to mention, some were pretty rich. I went to basics and followed the 30 min before and 30 min after eating rule for liquids. As to what to eat? Experiment. My Fitness Pal has been a great tool once I was on solids. Protein first, then a veggie, then and only if there is room, starch/sweet. There has not been a food that I cannot eat, but the quantity is very small, to that end, I really have to focus on my protein. Chicken, eggs, fish, beef and lean pork. Cheese and deli meats are my quick go to.

GREAT NEW SINGLE LOCATION FOR "STALL TALK!"
Susan-031314 replied to LivingFree!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Don't let the frustration get you down. It will get better. At 4 weeks, your body is still healing inside. You will soon hit your stride. After the quick weight loss just after the surgery, I think your body goes into shock for a little bit and just holds on to Water. It doesn't seem to make sense but the more water you drink, the more your body will flush through. When you can get to a real sweaty workout, you will see a big jump down in weight. If you are eating the smaller number of calories, you ARE losing fat. In the meantime pull something from the back of your closet that was too small at the start of your journey. I bet you will find some surprises!! Keep up the good work. -
Friday was 221.4 to end July 4th challenge, just above my goal. This morning I was at 218.8. I guess I needed that extra weekend... Labor Day Challenge Start - 218.8 Goal - 205.0 Thanks for picking up the challenge!!!!!

Vets who experienced constipation early on
Susan-031314 replied to hayleylamas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know it's old school, but if I haven't gone in 2 days, I have 6 oz prune juice in the evening. That has worked for me each time by mid-morning. -
My Dr does a drain, his partner does not. It was really no problem and kept me close to home for the first week. I just didn't want to deal with it at the office. The stuff the drain collects is absorbed in your body if you don't have one. I also wonder if it may have helped with gas pain. I had zero gas pains that others talk about.

GREAT NEW SINGLE LOCATION FOR "STALL TALK!"
Susan-031314 replied to LivingFree!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Here is a link to an article from magazine section on the site. It's great 'food' for thought. http://www.bariatricpal.com/page/articles.html/_/plateaus-and-regain/breaking-a-weight-loss-plateau-r46 Also, check out this 3 Week Stall explanation. It makes sense to me. (Thanks Kindle!!) http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.U7I2Stq9KSN From my personal experience, which is limited, if you have stalled for a bit, look for the non-scale changes. When my weight change slows, I find that my body is shifting. This is when I see the bigger changes in inches and other things like stamina. Bottom line, we all go through stalls, and we get past them. Keep working your program and it will work for you!! -
Ok....Any suggestions?
Susan-031314 replied to iamblessed1225's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I love BBQ and Mexican food. I go to Dickey's or Rudy's and buy the meat with no sauce. I measure with a food scale or quarter cup and only eat what I'm allowed. I like pinto Beans instead of green all the time. (adds a little protein) We ordered in from Cowboy chicken yesterday and I got chicken, pintos and mixed veggies. I have meals for the whole weekend from one dinner plate. Big thing is to measure portions to plan and put the rest away. I'm afraid that with me, if I don't put away immediatly, I will start snacking. Bottom line, don't limit yourself, check your Dr's list or with the Nut and keep to their portions and list. What you've been eating sounds fine, but I get bored without a little variety. -
What a transformation!!!! I still look more like your before picture, but its an inspiration to see what can be done in just over a year. Congrats and keep up the good work!!

Nervous before Surgery Normal?
Susan-031314 replied to NavyMom6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My meltdown was one week before surgery, if you don't count that I considered the procedure 2 years before I actually went through with it. I was at my office prepping for my last pre-op visit and as I told my boss, it was really getting real. Anyway, I was fine and you will be too!!! I think it's right to be concerned and talk it through as you need too. I admire that you are doing this and will be a better Mom for your little one doing more active things and for a longer time. -
WATER PARK IN A TWO PIECE

Wow!!!! Both numbers and looks. Did you do plastics, or did things just go back into place? -
I am afraid I have messed up on full liquid phase
Susan-031314 replied to Jewells70's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You can do better than that. Please give your tummy time to heal. I truly hope you had the soup throughout the day and not at one setting. If you like the cream of chicken, try to get unjury Chicken soup Protein, at least you will be getting the protein your body needs. If you do try it, pay careful attention to the directions. It cannot be heated to boiling. You got this. Be better tomorrow!!! -
Worried that i am not on track.
Susan-031314 replied to heatherdawn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't fear the NUT, or the Dr for that matter. These guys are your team. You are paying them for their guidance and help. It sounds to me like you are doing well, but we can all use fine-tuning. I have not been back to my NUT, but I am constantly thinking back to things she said. Keeping and getting more active will be a big part of the program to get the results you want long-term. Good for you picking up your activities with your walks. Great time to relax and visit with your husband. -
Suggestion: Can we have a "Stalls" subforum?

Thanks. That laid it out simply, in a way I'd never thought of. -

Scientific explanation? I'd like some of those links myself. -

I think Lipstick lady has come up with a winner. -- Don't sweat the small stuff. -- It explains the forum, and is somewhat positive in a chicken soup kinda way. Not that others weren't good, but I like this one. -
Well done Buffleheads!!! Vegas nerve, I've got to remember that. Now my hiccuping full signal has a source and a new name. "Vegas Hiccups!!!" I only slimed once, and learned quickly, I never want to feed my teeny tiny tummy too much, too fast regardless of how good it looks.
