    Hotel Breakfast

This is one of the things that has made us fat... feeling like we have to eat our "moneys worth". Buffets are terrible.
  2. I'm so sorry, but you must try to get fluids in you. If you get dehydrated it will be much worse. The pain can be quite intense for a couple of weeks. Then the gas leaves, you get your staples out and it gets better. Take your pain meds with fluids, try deep breathing techniques. I wish I could be more help.

    I'm in the medical field.

I dont work anywhere near the medical field, but I don't understand the snobbery. Seems to me all levels of nursing are valuable. Still, not sure its relevant in any discussion. I only care about a nurses expertise if I'm getting direct care from them. We could all go around touting our educational achievements at every opportunity, but that would get old, real quick.

    I'm in the medical field.

I'm never sure how its relevant anyway, even if you are a Dr. You're still here....
  5. Watch your "sugar free" drinks and foods including popsicles. They often have "sugar alcohol" which can act like a laxative.
  6. This one is rough... I didn't even tell my 17 year old. My life would have been hell, before, during & after. I'm interested in any answers to your question. I wish I had the answer.

    Getting in the protein?

    I agree, completely!

    Sushi

It seems like the sticky rice might get stuck... and the way pills get stuck in me, I'm not going near sticky rice. But boy, it sounds great and think how cheap! One roll and I'm good for the day...

    Repetitive and Circuitous Topics....

I had a coffee addiction that I kicked pre-op. I was never a tea drinker but now, 3 weeks post op, its a life saver. I'm having a hard time with nausea and its the only thing that helps. I've literally sat in the bathroom floor sipping tea... pathetic I know. At this point, I need it. Its probably my most reliable source of fluids (that will stay down).

    Post Op March 2014

Oh no! I'm so glad you're ok! What did you eat too much of, if you don't mind me asking? Today was my first real nausea too... from stuck pills. Hot lemon water finally dissolved them..

    Insurance

How long? Depends on from what point... I first applied with my PCP back in 2009... Denied. Finally got approved to consult with the surgeon Dec 2013. Once I lost the pre-op weight (12 pounds) it took 2 weeks for HealthNet to approve my surgery. I had surgery 5 days later.

    Getting in the protein?

It does if you make it with Isopure instead of the cold Water

Low Sodium/Fat Free Broth Is Gross!

Congrats!! I am very leery of telling people what to do, but the sodium DOES make a huge difference in flavor. It sounds like you are doing great! I think the pre-op diet was the hardest part if this whole process, and you're doing it superbly :-)
  15. Or I smell different....kinda like buttered popcorn. I'm a little over 2 weeks post op and my sense of smell seems very different. It's not quite as strong, and it seems like my body smells different... not bad, just different. Has anyone else had scent changes?
