Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Carol and Denise, Thank you for thinking of me and sending me prayers. I knew I could count on ya'll to lift my spirits. I spent a week with Sandra & Patsy in November and Sandra told me then not to wallow because she was ok with it. I just have to remember all the laughter and good time we had. Yesterday was just really hard, and I know I will have bad days in the future, but also I know she's happy and pain free, and that's what matters most. Again thanks to my Lapband family! Teresa

    Let's Potty Talk!!

Ok, I'll bite! It was a couple of days after surgery before I had a BM, but that was the liquid stage so nothing solid in nothing solid out. I had some diarrhea issues after banding, but I discovered it was due to being lactose intolerant. So I changed my protein shakes and started drinking lactose free milk and it got better. As long as I drink all my fluids I dont have any trouble with constipation, but I never did pre band. The bladder leakage has lessened and I hope will continue to do so. Hope this helps!! Teresa

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Shirley and jbflorida, Thanks for your replys, they really mean a lot to me. Since my post I have talked with my daughter and ganddaughter in Texas, and my son is staying with us tonight. I also talked, laughed, and cried with my best friend (Pat) and she understands why I can't be there. She knows my love, heart and mind is with them. We also planned a trip to Vegas in July to celebrate Sandra's life. Sandra loved the slots! Again thank you for your love and prayers. You are the greatest! Teresa

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Yesterday I lost a very dear friend to lung cancer. She was diagnosed right after Katrina hit New Orleans while undergoing tests to give her sister a kidney. She had been fighting the battle ever since. I'm so upset that I can't be there with my best friend, her sister, to hold her and tell her I love her. I've cried until there are no more tears, but it just hurts so bad. They are in Baton Rouge and I'm in Ga with a husband that is too sick to travel right now and I can't leave him alone. I'm sorry to be so down, but I just needed to talk and I know ya'll are always here to listen. Thanks for letting me lean on you...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello All! It's been a few weeks since I've been here. Had some loooong nights at work, we had a software conversion:eek:!! If you've been through one, you know what I mean. Looks like every one is doing really really good!!! I have been staying on track and have lost 3 pounds in 6 weeks!! My Dr was very happy:biggrin:. We decided not to do another fill since I am losing and have good restriction.. I took the day off and after my Dr appt I decided to go shopping since my clothes are getting bigger and I got into a SIZE 12!!!!!!!!! Then to celebrate my victory I went to the beach a enjoyed a 2 mile walk!!! I'll be back there tomorrow (Fernandina Beach, FL) and Sunday!!! It was so much better than just walking at the track... Keep up the GREAT work everyone!

    I Never loose 2lbs a week!!

I'm a slow loser too... I never lose 2-3 pounds a week, but I HAVE lost over 40 pounds. FOURTY POUNDS PEOPLE!!!!! That I have NOT gained back.... This to me is awsome... I was a size 20/22 now I'm a 14. I would love to have lost more, but that is just not how my body is working. I accept that and embrace the fact that I am STILL losing. Don't put yourself down because you're not losing lots of weight quickly. Listen to your body, treat it right, and the weight will come off, even if it's slow!!!! Love yourselves ladies.... This was a MAJOR decision and lifestyle change that we didn't make lightly... Love to all.....
  9. I'm off 2 blood pressure meds (1 to go) and triglyceride meds. Waiting for blood work to come off the cholestrol med!!!!!!!! This is soooo wonderful, and I feel GREAT!!!!!

I agree Stevia is more expensive, but like you said it's herbal, and much better for you. Stevia is considered by the FDA as a dietary supplement, not a sweetner. I have found a site on EBAY that has a really good price on it. Their name is ClubNatural. Just search for nunaturals. It comes in several forms, here is some info on the White Stevia powder. Product Description: NuNaturals White Stevia Powder, Standardized 12 oz (336 g) Extract NuNaturals uses an extract which has been laboratory tested and certified to contain a minimum 90% of the steviosides, the most active ingredients of Stevia, while retaining the other beneficial components. This is a highly concentrated extract and should not be confused with less potent powdered herbs or extracts. Be assured that this is a true Stevia extract, consistent in quality that you expect from NuNaturals. Maltodextrin is a food grade carbohydrate derived from grain. It is added to make it easier to measure the Stevia Extract. NuNaturals also produces White Stevia™ Extract and Quick Dissolve Tablets™ without maltodextrin, Pure Liquid™ Clear Stevia™ Extract that allows greater control over your dosage, and White Stevia™ Powder Packets. White Stevia™ Extract is super concentrated and great for making large batches. NuNaturals White Stevia™ packets and Quick Dissolve Tablets™ are convenient ways to use Stevia when you are away from home.

I use Stevia. I had used equal and sweet n low for many years prior to the band, and started having MAJOR reflux. Then I read on one of the threads that several people were having the same problem and had switched to Stevia. I switched and reflux GONE!!! That was about 5 months ago.

  16. I've tried all kinds and they all gave me serious gastric problems. So far the only one I can drink is All the Whey-for bariatric/lap band. It has no fat, no carbs, sweetened with Stevia, gluten free and lactose free. I love the strawberry shortcake and orange creamsicle!!! Problems of over-fill??

Trust me you need to go to your Dr. I just went today and had a .1cc unfill and I can really tell a difference. I got some chicken stuck and had not been able to eat solid food without severe pain since Monday. Then I had MAJOR reflux. My last fill was 2 weeks ago today and I had lost 7 lbs!!! My doc was not happy... I'm lucky that my Dr is only 40 miles away, but I would have driven any length to get relief. I wasn't PBing but man was I uncomfortable...

    Slow Losers Unite!

Hey gang!!! Count me in:thumbup: I gotta do something... I've got really good restriction since my last fill Feb 14, but those darn scales have not moved 1 ounce:mad2: I went to the grocery store and got the stuff to make the pumpkin & sausage, black bean, and the split pea soups soooooo I'm ready....
  22. dawgfan

    Slow Losers Unite!

The minimum is 60 grams. If I don't get that much then I'll drink a shake.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Anne, Stop reading about all the complications unless you actually have one. I was doing that for a while and it just brought me down. I haven't had any problems so I've decided not to read ab out them. Not that I'm being insensitive, I truly feel for those more unfortunate. I am a slow loser and too have a hard time getting in all the water, and exercise, ugh!! but I do love green tea. I also drink decaf tea. However my coffee MUST be leaded!!! :laugh:I asked my Dr about it last Thurs at my appt. and he said that as long as I drink no more than 2 cups I should be ok. That's all I ever drink. Your friend that is comparing you to GB, if you choose to keep her your friend, give her some information on the LB and how it works. If she is your friend, she'll read it and be more supportive. If not, then at least you tried. I think you are a brave, and strong woman opting to take such a lifechanging step to good health... YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!:wink2: As for energy, I make sure that I get my protein, even if I have to drink a shake, that is soooo important and I also take a high potency b-12 sublingual tablet daily. Just keep in touch and we'll all be here for each other.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Band Chick, I hadn't thought about it but you may be right about the genetics. That darn fat gene is on both sides of my family, and I am built just my mother and her mother!!! They both were overweight all their lives...

    Slow Losers Unite!

Hey fellow slow losers!!! I went for another fill on valentine's day and had gained 2 pounds!!!! UGH:mad: I am soooo frustrated. I have got to get my head back in the game here, but I don't know what I did wrong. I know I didn't have very much restriction and evidently didn't make the right choices But hopefully this last fill might be the trick because I definately have restriction now!!! I've had 1 scrambled egg, 1-8 oz protein shake, 1/4 cp smoked pork and 1/4 cp beans for today and I am so stuffed...My doc said that I would either lose a ton of weight or be back for an unfill. I hope sure he's right about losing the weight.... Just had to vent a little:sad:
