I had my surgery in TJ so figuring out a lot of stuff on my own. Do VSGers stay on antacids for life? Or just the first few months? TIA!
-
Today marks 12 weeks since I was sleeved in Tijuana by dr. Corvala. No complications. I'm down 56 lbs. right now but I'm in my second stall. No loss for the last 10 days but I'm trying to be patient! I went from 2x and 3x shirts to size large now. Size 24 jeans to 16. Today I tested my mile time and I've shaved 6 minutes off since my first post op mile. I did a 5k color walk/run a few weeks ago. Crazy! I'm embarrassingly slow but I'm improving! I'm soooo glad I was able to have this surgery!

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement! I hope my story inspires people. Especially moms. (Mommy of five here I know when I was pre op I searched these forums ALL the time looking for post op updates with pictures! Lol -

I remember being soooo scared! It was only 10 weeks ago. I almost had a panic attack. But everything went great! Best thing I've ever done for myself. I'm sure it will go great for you too! Good luck tomorrow!!!

anyone REGRET the sleeve?
phatphotog replied to elpasovet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm ten weeks out and 52 lbs down. I have no regrets. My life has drastically changed for the better. I walked/jogged my first 5k last week and im signing up for two more in sept and oct! I'm SO much happier! Was it an adjustment? Big time! Is it easy to always follow the rules? No! But it's totally worth it to me. And some people do have complications. People considering surgery have to weigh the risks vs benefits. If I hadn't had surgery, I guarantee I'd be 300 lbs by now and heart problems and diabetes would probably be in my future. I personally (thankfully) have had no complications. I really feel for those who have. -

As a bonus, when I went to shower I decided to step on the scale and was shocked to discover I have hit 50 lbs loss!!! 70 to go! I love, love, love my sleeve! I'm finally LIVING instead of merely existing. It feels amazing! (the first pic was a week or so before surgery)

So proud of myself~! Have to share!

Wow! You are doing awesome!!! Congrats!! I'm 8.5 weeks out and down 47lbs. Can I ask how many calories you are taking in per day? I stalled for a couple weeks recently so upped my calories. It restarted my weight loss thankfully. I'm getting about 1000 cals/day now (while stalled was at 700) but feel it's too much even though I started losing again. I don't know.... Just curious where you're at calorie wise since you're so successful at this. -
Finally after two flippin' weeks of being the exact same weight I went down two lbs this am!!! (I weigh daily) I'm so happy. Yesterday was my 8 week surgiversary and I'm now down 45 lbs. I hope I don't hit a stall again for a while. Back to losing! Woo-hoo! I don't know if this is what did it but I have a very active lifestyle plus I have been exercising a lot since I hit six weeks post op. This is also when my stall began. So I increased my calories from 700/day to 900-1000/day for the last three days. Maybe that did the trick? Sharing that info in case it can help someone else. I will NOT go over 1000 though and I'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

GOAL! Flipogram of my Journey
phatphotog replied to livvsmum's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You are so gorgeous! Congratulations on your amazing accomplishment! -
I am in a stall. Totally sucks. I've only lost a couple lbs the last three weeks. I was sleeved June 5th, just over 7 weeks ago. I have decided to try carb cycling. For me that will mean NOT being ridged about my carb count for just one day a week (today was my first day) and im hoping that will jump start my metabolism again. I have been exercising every day since I hit 6 weeks and eating around 700 cals. I know some people are really against this but im tired of being stuck at this weight when im working so hard and following the rules. We'll see what happens! At least all this exercise is making me feel fantastic! Plenty of NSVs even if the scale isn't moving. Good luck to you!

Sent home with open incision!
phatphotog replied to mrs.papa923's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Is it where the drain was removed? I had that. It was pretty small, like the size of a pencil eraser. Yes, I had to pack with gauze too, and it itched like crazy but it should start closing up for you pretty soon. -
Congratulations!!! Rest, sip, walk, rest, sip, walk. I slept a lot the first two weeks. Just try to sip as much as you can during your waking hours. I was sore for about 3 weeks. Before you know it you'll feel like yourself again. Just give yourself time to heal. I've had staples for four c-sections. They do not hurt during removal at all. No worries. Take care and welcome to the losers bench! It's awesome over here! (I'm 7 weeks post op and down 43 lbs after gaining 8lbs of hospital fluids)

Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
phatphotog replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6w 2d out now. Sleeved June 5th. I can eat pretty much anything now with no issues. The only things I haven't tried are raw veggies, rice, steak and of course bread/pasta. Although I have had toast with tuna or chicken salad on it. I could only eat 1/4 of a piece and it's definitely not something I have every day. I cannot handle protein shakes. I literally have a hard time even swallowing them. I'm sure it's a head thing but I just can't get them down except for the Atkins shakes but even those are a chore. I'm now down 42.5 lbs, exactly the same weight as my five year old. It's amazing to pick her up and think that I had been carrying that weight around every single day. No wonder stairs and getting off the floor was a struggle! I'm soooo happy with my sleeve! This week I bought my first dress from the "regular" side of a store. Not ready to wear in public yet but it fits well! I just hate my legs showing. And all my bras are too big! My hubby is a lil concerned about this. Haha -
Don't worry! At four weeks out I suddenly dropped five lbs overnight then went back up four lbs the next morning. Just normal fluctuations, salt and water.... That was two weeks ago and I'm down 8 lbs now. I weigh everyday because I'm neurotic but if it freaks you out try weighing once a week instead.
-
I have had this issue but not too severely. Something unexpected that helped was when I was sick last week, I drank hot tea for my throat. Every single time I drank it, 20 minutes later I had to "go." haven't seen this mentioned yet so just wanted to throw it out there. Miralax helped also. I'm 6 weeks post op.

Im officially six weeks post op and soooo ready to start working out and toning up! I've been having trouble getting all my Protein in but working on it. The problem is I feel pretty weak and shaky sometimes. I have five young kids and admittedly forget to take care of myself sometimes. (Working on that too! . Can I get some suggestions for what to eat before and after a workout to keep my strength up? Like, should some healthy carbs be in a pre workout snack for energy? I won't be doing anything super intense because of being weak right now but I really want to tone up. Is it enough to keep walking and add in some strength training for now? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! This is all new for me but I'm really excited to get in shape!

Thank you all!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Will be praying for you.

I am 5 weeks out. My boob fat was the first to go and I was thrilled! Haha no more roll out of the top my bras. I am annoyed that they are looking more and more deflated but that's probably from breast feeding five kids which Id do all over again in a heartbeat! they don't look too terrible probably because I'm only 29. But I don't care if they gets worse since the rest of me is going to look soooo much better.

You look amazing! I can't wait to hit 6 weeks and start hitting the gym! One more week to go!
