I'm 13 days out and almost a month without real food. Feeling weaker each day and can't wait until Tuesday when I can add cottage cheese and cream soups. No problem getting my fluids and protein shakes. Lost 42 lbs so far, but don't have the energy to walk as much as I'll like. Do miss eating!!

Same here, I'm going to make that first taste of real food in almost 5 weeks special. To be on the light side I'm thinking baked haddock. Although it won't be cooked with the butter sauce I 'm accustomed to with it.

Day 6, I think today maybe the turn around day. So far so good! Stopped pain meds yesterday morning so I could drive. I think my biggest problem was not drinking enough Water. Yesterday I upped the effort and drank about 45-50 ounces. That seemed to help with the nausea crisis. Still a little week as I've only had a 8oz Protein shake/day for the last two days. May bump that to two shakes today. Also last few nights I'm drenching the sheets at night, sweating like crazy. Temperature is normal, don't know what's going on with that. This morning I weighed 270 lbs, started the two week pre-op diet at 305.....total of 35lbs in three weeks. Crossing my fingers today is a good day! Hope all recent Sleevers are doing well also.

Susan - don't why I was in ICU, but it's care was fabulous...

Came home yesterday which was wonderful. I've had probably 5 different operations in my 59 years and this one was definitely the hardest the first two days. They kept me in ICU for two days and the care was great, then moved me to a shared room which was not pleasant. First day was missable, no candy coating that day. I had dilaudid pain killer in my iv feed. I think that painkiller cause me such nausea and discomfort. Once they switched me to oxycodone, it was much better. Each day has gotten much better. Today is the 4th day and I'm just a little weak and slow moving. All I need to do is sip Water and walk at this point. Only required to do one Protein Drink today and I think it will be chicken with broth. I fully understand the hard part is behind me but it is far from being over. Now I need to learn how to eat well with my tiny tummy. All is good!

All prepped and wait to go in. Looking forward to the anesthesia, so it will be all over when I wake.

I'm 5 days away from my procedure and having all kinds of thoughts. Is it the right way, can't I do it myself by diet and exercise (9 days liquid protein has me -15 lbs), will I fail if I don't change my 60 yr old eating habits? All that is running through my mind and I can't wait for the moment the anesthesiologist has me count down. At that point it is a done deal and all that is left is to make the most of this drastic decision to get healthier. I'm thinking and hoping because I am going through the sleeve procedure process that I will not fail, knowing it would have been better to be heavy with a full size stomach. So you are definitely not alone with the second guessing yourself. Good luck to you!

Thanks webhopper! I pretty much told friends and family I might be in hiding from them if it gets too ugly. I'm just hoping that I'll have some energy to get stuff done around the yard and house. I report if it gets too wacky.

Bigtosmaller - I'm picking up a few pounds myself. Been visiting my favorite restaurants saying goodbye to meals I enjoyed over the years. Also funny how family and friends want to eat meals with me before the operation. I think they are also mourning our restaurant jaunts. One more week left before I start the pre-op diet. I think I'll be alright, as I told my NUT, "if you write it down for me I will follow the directions to a tee". I guess I learned that from all the shopping lists my mom used to give me. .....:-)

Just got word from my doctor's office that insurance papers have been submitted and they don't expect any problems. They booked a surgery date for April 29th. At this time I weigh 305 pounds, which is down about 20lbs since September when I started walking regularly. Try to walk 5 miles per day, 5 times a week. I use mapMyWalk app have have logged 350 miles since starting. It has taken me three years to finally go through with the WLS. I'm 60 years old and I want to try to improve this senior citizen stage of my life. Hope to see my young grandchildren grow into adults. I've been looking around the site last few days and enjoyed reading all your stories. I plan on contributing by telling my story as it develops.
