Please explain pre-op diet
rodeomom969 replied to txags's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I believe the liquid 2 week pre-op diet really prepares you for surgery and what's to come after. I see a lot of people on here that only had to do a few days or less and they are complaining after surgery about their cravings and hunger. I am really glad I stuck to my 2 week. I did have one bite of chicken one day and a bite of plain hamburger one night. I am 2 days post-op and I don't even feel like I've had surgery. I feel great and it's so much easier to carry on with the liquid diet. -
Todays the day! Whoop whoop!

Good luck! I am 2 days post-op and all is great so far! -
I am two days post-op as well. I feel great with no vomiting as well and the gas pains were kind of crappy, but really not that bad. I think walking was the best things for my gas pain. So glad your surgery went well too.

That's funny because, eggs, tuna and peanut butter are all on my list of soft foods I can have starting 2 weeks post-op. So if it doesn't bother you and you are sticking to the 4-6 ounce serving I would say you are good. I am 2 days post op and I am not required to eat protein shakes, they like you to try to get 2 in between meals a day. I am just adding unflavored to crystal light and my soups so that I can get more protein.

I'm so sorry Curvycakes. I was wondering how your surgery went on Monday. That really stinks that you have been so sick. I hope it passes for you soon. Mine went great and luckily I didn't have any of those symptoms. Best of luck to you. -
Anybody in here sceduled for surgery this MONTH?
rodeomom969 replied to perfectlyflawed14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wanted to update you all on my surgery. Just had it Monday the 14th and I can say, this is an easier surgery than my gall bladder. I am feeling great today 2 days post op. I could really have gone to work today for a while. Yesterday after getting home from the hospital I started a fever which got to 99.8 and I was feeling crappy from that and a little worried. Just took some of my liquid hydracodone (YUCK) before I went to bed last night and woke up feeling great. I can truly say, I believe the 2 week liquid only diet prepares your body for this and to alleviate any cravings that some people get after surgery. I have no cravings or hunger as of yet. Good luck to those surgeries to come in April. -
Hurting right now.

I'm sorry that your feelings were hurt. I'm sure he will get used to it and I was told by educational class it can take 6 months for skin to shrink back, so it might still change. I have surgery in the morning and not looking forward to that part either, but looking forward to my back feeling relief. -

You will have headaches for the first few days and periodic through the liquid diet. I just finished 2 weeks, my surgery is in the morning. Try to just follow the liquids like your doctor wants. I know it's miserable for a few days. Good luck to you. -

rodeomom969 replied to jdillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not too bad. I had mine out about 11 years ago. It's so good to get rid of that pain and not deal with it anymore. Good luck! -
How do you know if you have a hernia?
rodeomom969 replied to photochick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went for my pre-op visit today and asked. Several people in the class already knew they were having a repair. He said sometimes they don't show any symptoms and if when they go in for surgery they see one they will definitely repair it so it doesn't cause you future problems. I don't know exactly where this hernia is, but that is what I know. -

Please don't say childbirth was easier Hope you are feeling better. -
Just try a bunch of different protein. A lot of places you can get free samples or single packets. Your pre-op diet is a good time to try these out.

When Will I Have A Decent Meal Again
rodeomom969 replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are the same day I have emailed a lot of patients that have had the surgery with my doctor and I am amazed at their results. Unfortunately they are all more than 8 months out, but they are all easily eating regular food. I am just looking forward to pureed foods or cream soups...something I can't see through. hahaha -

Didn't you just have your surgery? How are you doing? I have been asking that a lot since I've been on my pre-op liquids. Seems to me it's a little bit out -
Are the protein shakes causing anyone else head axhes?
rodeomom969 replied to Mrs. Ski's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have been told your headache is from the sugar/caffeine/carb withdrawls. My headaches lightened up by about day 4 of the pre-op, but I've had one all day today. I'm on day 8 of my 14 day liquid. -
That is awesome! I have my surgery next Monday and I am about the same starting weight. Can't wait to continue my new journey.

Your husband probably has a higher BMI? I notice those with more to lose, usually lose more weight faster. I'm sure you will do fine. I have my surgery next Monday.

Please tell me the 2 week liquid diet might possibly be the hardest part?

I think it is mainly a mental thing, but it is really hard. I'm just at the beginning. -
Stomach very tender after 10 days on pre-op diet.
rodeomom969 replied to Harley59's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Miss Mac, we are both talking about our pre-op liquid diet. But this is good information for after our surgery about the blender and Gas X strips. Is it good just to plan on buying the gas x strips and taking them to the hospital with me? -

I think it might be just getting used to the protein. I know when my husband changes protein he gets really gassy from it. -

I am on day 7 of my pre-op liquid diet and I have the same problem. My stomach gets burny and bubbly, just kind of uncomfortable. I have also kind of got a little nauseous sometimes to, which I never used to do.
