Changing taste buds and all that ...
Jessiegirl30 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So at 11 weeks post op I am trying more and more different foods and here are some of my observations. Before surgery my nutritionist told me tastes would change and I was like yeah right ... But they kind of have .. My husband had some fries from McDonald's so I ate one it was disgusting ... I spat it out all it tasted like to me was a mouth full of grease .. Prior to surgery I could have easily eaten 2 large serves and thought nothing of it.. Except yummy salty fatty goodness (lol) I was craving a pie ( mince and cheese) so I thought I would try a little bit I took the top off and ate some of the mince it was great !! Then jb thought I would try a little of the pastry ... That was awful agin like the fries it just tasted like crap ... Also there is this indian snack called chewda which I used or love I tried it had to throw it away it was so awful So yes my tastes certainly have changed in that respect I no longer crave the salty fatty foods I used to eat which is a good thing !! However I can not eat bread at all any type of bread it doesn't sit well with me and leaves me feeling heavy and gassy which my nurse says is common and she says some people can never eat bread ... That is taking some getting used to. Overall I am more happy with what I can and can't eat now and how much I can manage , also last week I upped my exercise just like the doctor told me to do so that's good except today I have gout ... Caused by tomatos but yeah things are okay. I went and visited my family this past weekend and I saw my sister and she must weigh at least 330lbs now :-( I felt really bad for her because I know what it's like and also she has been turned down for the surgery twice now because she doesn't meet the requiments :-( also on a personal level I don't think she is the right head space at the moment for it yet either. That's what I have learnt is that you really need to be in the right head space for this surgery otherwise you will just be sad and depressed and it won't work .. Anyway that's it Monday ramblings over -
To start with I found this site helpful and full of info... Or so I thought I have now learnt that everyone is told a different thing by their surgeons and nurses & that everyone thinks they know best and that everyone feels the need to share that with everyone ... So this is my last post .. I'm not even sure it will be read becUse I am going to delete my account.. It's my fault I hate this site because for some reason I expected people to be different on here.. Turns out this is just like every other site out there ... Shit !!

What's one thing you hope to enjoy after you've lost the weight?
Jessiegirl30 replied to fezik23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a great goal :-) I want to buy clothes from regular stores , and I am so looking fwd to going places and not being the biggest person there -
4 weeks out- watermelon ok?
Jessiegirl30 replied to MayDaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learnt if you chew it well and your stomach can handle it then it's fine :-) ... Just remember it might fill you up and you need protien more than watermelon -
So yes I made it out of the 200's :-) yah me I get it's a big deal for those that use the imperial system ... Which is this website so :-) I saw my surgeon on Friday and he was happy with how things are going except he told me to exercise more and to stop my anti nausea medication because that makes you constipated so yeah. Umm nothing else to say oh yeah in case you am wondering I am 10 weeks post op :-)

Onederland .. :-)
Jessiegirl30 replied to Jessiegirl30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Would I do it again ? Well at this stage I'm not sure, yes I am losing weight but it hasn't been easy and I have been sick a lot ... It is getting better slowly ... In the first few weeks drinking liquids was hard enough I needed to get thru 1ltr a day and that was a mission. To start with it's all about protien so that's your focus I am still only managing protien for most meals . I take a multi vitiamn each day (from week 4) but yeah I would say to anyone considering this surgery think long and hard because there is no going back and it's not easy... -
I am 9 weeks post op and I have lost 31lbs since surgery and 96lbs since I started my journey almost exactly 1 year ago That's all I wanted to say
-
I went out today I needed a work jacket/coat/cardigan things because I am getting so cold these days now it's winter and well I have lost 90lbs since last winter so yeah I feel the cold lol I found a lovely merino cardigan it was 50% off as well but it was too big !!!! And they didn't have a smaller size .. That felt great lol Then I found some track pants and pjs which I tried on and I am now wearing a size XL the last time I brought these things I was wearing a 3xl !!!! I am super stoked it felt great to walk around the shop and not have to just go to the plus size section !!! I know that I have along way to go to reach my goal and I am only in week 9 post op but it feels so great to drop 2-3 sizes and it's great to be on track. My birthday is august 5 and I want to have drooped another 22 lbs by then (if I can) and that should be also another dress size My legs and butt have gotten smaller so pants look baggy round my legs but my waist /tummy/hips is where the majority of my weight is still sitting but I know it's a slow process but once again it's great to see results... The only down side to all of is is that because I am so short (5'1") I have to have all my pants taken up and that costs nearly as much as the pants themselves ! Lol lol Weigh in day tomorrow wish me luck

When does the restriction begin.
Jessiegirl30 replied to SliminDownThick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny you say that because it took me at least 3 weeks before I started to feel full ( I'm in week 9 now) , the only thing I can say is that it will come and to eat slowly and good luck -
Tomorrow is the day!

Does this sound good?
Jessiegirl30 replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well done I am 8 weeks also and down 28 lbs so you are going way faster than me -
So my 7th week how was it...? I was sick ( with a cold) and I got really bad constipation :-( I also have a X-ray coming up because my doctor suspects I have arthritis in my knees :-( they are incredibly sore all the time ( it's not a weight thing) food wise it's going okay I can tolerate a lot more different foods but I am struggling with the fact that I can only have a few small bites :-( I guess that's the point of the sleeve ... But it's hard to adjust .. Well I mean it's hard to adjust my brain because obviously if I eat to much I throw up , I felt quite bad yesterday and threw up twice it was ham .. :-( But yes anyways that's my week 7 , also now down 26 pounds since surgery so yah oh and I have a check up tomorrow

How Long Did You Feel Sick
Jessiegirl30 replied to LaurieC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks out and honestly it took me about 5-6 weeks to feel better, I took 3 weeks off work and that was okay, I can tell you it will get better but yeah it did take a while for me and I went thru the whole this was a waste of time thing but it's slowly getting better , I wish u well :-) -
I found it hard to eat Cereal after 3 weeks because you can only tolerate such a little amount .... It's not worth the effort, well for me it wasn't :-)
-
Glad you found something u like, I had to be on opti fast for 6 weeks before surgery and near the end it was pure hell!! :-) good luck

Do You Feel The Same
Jessiegirl30 replied to LaurieC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 weeks out and feel 10 times better than I did at 3 weeks!, I to only hope it gets better -
So I am 6 weeks post op, and since surgery I have lost 24 lbs since I started my journey I have lost 88lbs, I am half way there !!! So at 6 weeks how do I feel... Well my energy is back to "normal" and I can tolerate most foods ( apart from really processed or deep fried) , I have learnt that thanks to the sleeve I can no longer " pig out" I simply can not get more food down and if I try I throw it up so what's the point ? Lol My clothes are all so baggy but I am not spending a lot of money on new ones ... Yet:-) I have had a few melt downs .. Because I can't eat or there is nothing I want and everyone else is eating cake and fries blah but I have had a couple of cokes lol that was good :-) Also I hate the fact this website only used pounds... I have to convert everything because over here we use the metric system lol but in pounds it sounds like so much more, though you guys go on about getting into onederland ... Under 200lbs , to me that means nothing lol getting under 100kgs now that means something to me (which I achieved a few weeks ago) Anyways I am plodding along slowly increasing my exercise.. My legs hurt all the time at the moment so I have to see my dr soon but yeah :-) can't complain to much
-
When did you stop feeling tired
Jessiegirl30 replied to ClarityHill's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 6 weeks post op and only just started to feel normal... I drink a lot of flavoured water or low calorie drinks like ice tea... It takes a while I am still having bad days , hang in there :-) -
Protein shakes are a good meal replacement i am 5 weeks post op and only just starting to come right , also that gurgling sound could be acid reflux ( I had it bad) get some medication from your doctor it will make life easier ... Good luck
-
So I have lost 20lbs since surgery... It's been slow but I think things are going to improve from here my nutritionist explained it can take a few weeks for your liver to get back to normal, and also because I lost like 10lbs in the first week my body has been playing catch up ! So yeah let's hope things start moving now. I am officially allowed solid foods again, though I am not really sure what that is I just take it to mean I can eat pretty much anything ( within reason no high fat foods of course) , I will admit food is causing me to have a melt down quite often, I can't eat very much and I miss so much.. I'm not even missing the bad foods like KFC or McDonald's I just miss regular meals and I have come to realise its a mind game as much as a weight game, I never understood that when people said that before, but now I get it. Anyway it's 6am Monday morning so I have to go to work :-) hope y'all have a great week

Starting back at work tomorrow :(
Jessiegirl30 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So it's been just over 3 weeks since my sleeve, and tomorrow I start back at work ... Mixed feelings about that, on one hand I enjoy my job for the most part , on the other hand it's work and I would so rather stay home lol I went out today and brought some new tops and underwear , not to many though just kind of transition ones for a while anyway And my wonderful husband brought me a new handbag to start work with it's this lovely black leather one and cost $239 !!!! I couldn't believe it when he said I could get it I'm so spoiled I love him I am struggling with food at the moment, every time I eat I feel sick and over full even if I am only getting 2 bites in I am really over it , but I have a follow up with the dietion on Tuesday so I will talk to her about it then. Also haven't had a poo in like 9 days now and I am taking fibre so a bit annoyed with that, but then I think well if I am not even eating then there is nothing to poo right ? Apart from that I am doing good Photo is of my handbag lol -
