Doing it for your kids?
Debi Amador replied to DMB41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have two very active children. My daughter is a competition dancer and I want to be able to go over her dances with her at home. I also have a son who plays baseball and I want to play with him. I am totally doing this for my kids. -
Today my son had a Little League game and of course they have a snack shack there and my 8 year old wants everything. Then after the game the snack was a soda from the snack shack, a bag of cheese-its and a hot dog. Hot Dogs completely gross me out so I am fine there but watching the kids eat the things I use to love is hard. I had always been a Dr. Pepper drinker and I had always had 1-2 a day and Cheese-its were my go to snack. I do feel a little empowered by not reaching in the bag and tasting one or stealing a sip of soda. But I still feel the urge, I don't know if it will go away any time soon, but for now I am holding strong.... Wish Me Luck!!!

I agree that the rudeness of others is just to mask their jealousy. I have made no secret of my surgery to friends, family, even my kids teachers know. Most people want to know what surgeon I used but I do get those questions about the extra skin, I just tell them that is what we have tummy tucks for, if I need it later I will get one, with my boob lift, LOL Keep up the good work and just keep making them jealous!

I have never been a sweet eater either but I am nearly 4 weeks out and I am down 36 pounds. I liked that the surgery was done laparoscopically and that I was out of the hospital in 2 days. I also like that there is no malabsorption issues, I was told that you have more pills to take after and more blood tests to make sure your Vitamin levels are OK.

Can someone tell me if this is normal?
Debi Amador replied to MorganO87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt horrible walking too, I think it was the weight of my stomach pulling down and then it bouncing as I walked. The tighter clothing helped it not jiggle so much and stopped a lot of the pain, and those meds in the hospital were GREAT. Good Luck! -
3 days POST-Opp and having troubling with GAS
Debi Amador replied to Jasmyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gurgling in your stomach will last until you start having normal BMs again. It is air inside the intestines working its way out, they aren't use to being so empty... it is all natural so don't worry about it. Mine would cause a moment or so of sharp pains but then it would move on. The more you move the less it hurts. Keep going! -

2 days post op..i know it gets better but i sure need to hear it
Debi Amador replied to aNewTanya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In a week you will be fine. Once you get back to your kiddo you will find yourself feeling much better. As for the food, it is normal to lose your appetite for the first few weeks, you will barely get any food down before you realize you are full. -
Dreaded 3-week stall?
Debi Amador replied to BriDawn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am just finishing my 3rd week and my weight loss has slowed but not stopped. But in the original comment I am most concerned with the 7-cups of liquid. juice has just as much sugar as most sodas, so you need to stay away from juice. And Ice Tea normally has caffeine, which will cause problems also, make sure you only drink Water or a Protein shake. -
CANT TAKE THE ITCH!
Debi Amador replied to Patoonces's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lotion is normally a good way to stop an itch, or try an ice pack. Good luck, it goes away. -
My doctor doesn't recommend it at all, but he says at least 3 months before I try and it could hurt.

My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal

@@Jenny12 I need that recipe for the crockpot, sounds good and my family always wants new things. -
I think it is just the heparin they gave you to make sure there where no clots. I started my period the day after surgery and it was different then usual because of the blood thinner. I would give it another day or two and see where you are. Good Luck!

Advice on dealing with rude, obnoxious father-in-law's comments?
Debi Amador replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have some really bad in-laws, if I am fat then they ask my husband why he can't do better and if I am thinner then they tell him I must be getting ready to leave him. My husband and I know that they are like that and we just think of come-backs. When my FIL says WOW, looks like someone has lost some weight, I just pat his stomach and say, And somebody found it. Or tell my mother in law I could help her change her cooking to be healthier and "imply" it will help her loss weight too, it normally shuts them up about it. Just have fun with them, and remember they are only point out things they are afraid of. -
An unwanted NSV?
Debi Amador replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree men don't really think before they speak, at least they haven't asked if you started using drugs (love my family), just let it go and keep moving forward. -

5 days post op no urge to eat?
Debi Amador replied to aimeelopez123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Completely normal, I start pooping again after like a week but I didn't have a normal bowel movement for about 10-14 days. But there was a lot of air making noises in my tummy. As for my appetite it is just starting to come back 3 weeks out. You're doing great, keep it up! -

Debi Amador replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
