My fill appointment is Nov.27th. Just after thanksgiving and I think that is a good thing. I would hate to be on clear liquids during thanksgiving.

for being so supportive. I don't know, it just seemed so weird and frustrating. If you don't get what you ordered you would take the item back. This is not an option in this case. But I have made peace with it. My husband went to the doctors office and the doc is going to discuss this with his partner and see what they are going to do (maybe some sort of compensation). The hospital I went to is supposed to have the supplies on hand and apparently they were low on everything. He apparently gave them hell about it going in. These docs use several different hospitals and this one is a tester to see how they like it. When I'd called the docs office a week before surgery they'd said that Long Beach community hospital carries the AP band and that is what I would get. So I figured that is all they carried. The reason I went with this hospital rather than one of the others that they operate at is that it was a significant discount....yea I know, that should have been a clue up front but hey, $13,500 instead of $17,000 was an incentive. My doc says that this band is what they have used ALOT of and it's a workhorse. He then told my husband they'd only placed 2 AP's in their entire practice. It's amazing the things you learn after the fact. I'm grateful to have a band. And if they'd told me the discounted rate came with this band and not the AP, I would have gone with this one. I was just so shocked at first. Again, thank you all for your support and I guess it can be a lesson for those who are banding in the future.

Well, I hurriedly went to the fills section of this forum and people were complaining like crazy that this 10cc band takes alot of fills to hit a sweet spot and sometimes filled to the rim is not enough. I had done so much research on the AP but was really trying to find some good about this one. I could appreciate some success stories.

All I know is that he said it's a 10cc that takes a 5cc fill. What's that about? It can hold 10cc but will only take 5? I did so much research on the other band. Oh here's the kicker! I have a recording on my cell phone where his secretary is telling me I will be receiving the AP band. How's that for proof. My husband put out this money from what little he got from his mom passing away recently. And now he's having to put up with my losing my mind (quietly but quite evidently). I just sent him to the docs office because doc hasn't returned our call yet. We'll see. I don't know what to expect now...

I was anticipating the new AP band and had called my doctors office prior to surgery to be sure thats what he would be using. Instead they ended up putting in the 10cc band. He said they punctured the AP putting it in and that they didn't have any more left. I just found this out and I am very upset. I actually think they should replace my band! People seem to need many more fills with the 10cc. Im self pay and it has ruined this for me. HELP

Are you saying that you received the AP or the 10cc?

They were putting the AP in and the assistant didn't close the implement before attempting to pull out and popped the tube or something. Apparently they didn't have another one there. I was their second surgery of the day...how could you not have enough bands? I appreciate your comment about the success of the 10cc band. It's just that I had my heart set on the AP and had done so much research on it.

Did you have to do a pre-op diet? How is post-op diet faring and what did your doctor advise?

When were you banded?

What is involved with the first session? I have mine in 2 hours! I want to have a heads'up. :help:

I received my bodybugg last week and the wrist-display is on back order. I think it would be worth the wait though.

I was banded on the 15th and have been eating things like crabcake, tuna salad, soups and cottage cheese. I had a poached egg one day. I haven't eaten any meat: it just doesn't sound 'appropriate' or like it would be ok right now. Trusting my instinct here. My post-op appointment is on Friday. I don't have a nutritionist that I have to meet with. I suppose it's because I'm self-pay. Everything seems to be going fine. Is anyone else eating mushies on week 2?

Thats sorta the conclusion I came to because the pain comes and goes. When I took a gas-x strip, the pain subsided. Thanks for responding guys!

:help: This weekend I went to san diego with my husband for a naval reunion. I brought all kinds of stuff to occupy myself in the hotel room because I really thought I wouldn't be up to much more. Well, we ended up doing quite a bit of walking and I did have some mushie stuff to eat. On my left side towards the front of my lower abdomen but still on the side below any of my incision sites, I am having what I would describe as a 'stitch'. It is intermittant, seems to be prompted by movement and is sharp. It has varying degrees of intensity. Tonite after we got home (1.5 hour drive-very smooth) it seems worse than ever. When I sit down I'm usually ok. It hurt some in the car and if I applied pressure to the site, it would ease some. It just seems like an ODD place to be having pain. If you divided your belly into quarters, it would be in the left lower quandrant near the lower left corner. (Does that muddy the Water for you???) It's just a weird place for pain right now.

I'm having pain 8 days after surgery in my left hand side. If you divide the belly into quarters, it's in the lower left quadrant. Sort of to the left of the port going downward. Does anyone have a clue to this? Could it be gas? I had some mushies this last weekend and maybe that is what is causing this. I'm cornfused!

No fever and I have had BM's. Pain meds seem to help. I am home for the rest of the week and if it doesn't resolve I have my post-op appointment on thursday.

I have developed a rash that is not so much related to the wounds but all around my abdomen: front and to the sides, almost to the back but not quite. I'm wondering if it's a reaction to the betadine scrub they put on us. It took a while to scrub that stuff off. Sort of came off like glue, in strips and was really stuck on. I'm itching but not too bad right now. I noticed the rash 2 days ago (3 days post-op). It seems like its very common! How weird.....

I had my band placed on Monday this past week and I have been enjoying frozen yogurt from places like Golden Spoon (soft serve). Non-fat, 10 cal/oz. Also baby food, stage one...yum!

I have that feeling and its like somethings stuck. I take it to mean that my band is there and making its presence known! I don't feel hunger but when I haven't eaten (drank, should I say), I feel the pressure get a little bit more intense. I'm able to get everything down that I need to so I'm not worried about it.

It's so good to hear from you Nic. I was watching for your return. I had my surgery the day before you and I can tell you one of the first posts I managed contained a cuss-word LOL. I can't believe the difference between yesterday and today. I even had some Golden Spoon frozen yogurt: I let it liquify in my mouth...see! no cheatin'! :mad: My husband has a naval reunion this weekend in San Diego...I got lots to entertain myself in the hotel room whilst he's off caterwallin' with the old guys. I'll be on the board quite a bit so if you need some cheerin up or just to shoot the breeze..i'm yur gal! Rest up and don't chinz on the pain meds. It will help you sleep better. Val

I have this feeling like theres a rock right under my breastbone. Like things are moving REAL slow. It makes me not want to put anything in there. For the first day or two, I don't think it was so apparent but maybe that was because I was in so much darned PAIN! I'm taking in my shakes slowly and am grateful for the fact that I can feel the change in my stomach. I will use it to my advantage and take as little as possible to satisfy my daily quotient. Speaking of daily quotient...gawd, my husband has become a drill sargeant! *man voice* "You really need to get with the program...you aren't getting nearly enough Protein. He cracks me up! I tell him 'I'm only on day 2, you goofball!' ... *man-voice* 'oh yea...well, ok.' lmao He is so sweet and took the entire week off for me. I think I should send him back to work...like yesterday hehehee. I'm feeling a bit better today (day 3). Each day seems to be improving exponentially.
