Is there such a thing as a five month plateau?? I have 7.2cc in a 10 cc band and I have full restriction but no weight loss since March....:-( I just feel like crying. I know I should be exercising every day but I work 2 jobs and I just don't always have the energy at 8 pm or 5 am in the morning to workout. I know theres always going for a walk over lunch but I just don't. I dont want to give up but I am just going through a hard time in my life and I thought the weight would be coming off more. On top of everything I am a week late with my period, my husband lost his job last week, and I have been trying to get promoted at work so we can make more money :-( Just having one of those poor me days

5 month plateau-Just needed to rant
Megmarie21 replied to Megmarie21's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know I am very restricted even though I can eat half an english muffin because I have a hard time with full Proteins especially chicken!! I PB at least once a week because I either eat to fast or dont chew enough. I forget I have the band which is what I am working on. I go through so many ups and downs that I am finally dealing with my food addictions. I have wanted to see someone but I just get sick of talking about it all the time. You know what I mean? Like yes I know I am addicted to feeding my emotions with food but at least I realize and I try and work on it everyday. Sometimes I wish I had gastric but then I realized why I didn't. So maybe I need to deal with my addictions first instead of doing more damage/surgery to my body. Why is that I stand up for myself when somebody hurts my feelings but I can't stand up against my own self when I beat myself down or put something bad in my mouth? -

Thanks everyone!!! I have been trying to keep a food journal the last month. Today so far I have eaten: 1/2 toasted english muffin w/PB 1 cup coffee w/1/2 cup 2% milk (dont like skim in coffee not strong enough) lunch at 11:45 Plain Turkey Burger no bun 2 tblspn Ketchup, 1 tblspn mustard, onion, 1/2 tomato, and pickle I am hungry now so I might go buy a piece of cheese and some skim milk to hold me over till dinner. Oh and i have had about 40 ounces of Water so far today. Of course not everyday is like this sometimes I slip and have thin crust pizza or a muffin but I feel that I am eating so much less than before I had the band. My dad thinks I am lying to myself about portion size but I have really tried to look at that as well which is why I got the last fill. I think I may need another tweaking so get me really restricted but we'll see. I did get my period and lost the craving for sweets and the 3 pounds of water weight I always seem to gain before :-). -
Wow so I had a pretty big fill today! I think it was my 5th fill?? I had a big fill in April and was restricted for the last 2 months but didn't seem to lose ANY WEIGHT?!!!!!!!!! I am so frustrated with the band! I know I know to keep going and try and just take one day at a time. I do try, I do start over every day if I mess up sometimes I think I am just addicted to food. I am addicted to the quantity, the taste, the game of I am not supposed to have this and all in all I get bored really easily with food! I decided to go to the doctor and since my intake increased they decided to push my band to see what I can handle. I was at 6.6 and I was feeling pretty restricted with that amount but now it will be interesting to see how I feel with 7.2. I had a cup of tomato basil Soup with 4 crackers and a sugar free Jello. I told my husband that I still felt hungry but it was more head hunger than anything. Hope every one is doing well! I know I haven't posted in awhile but just thought I would come back to it. Thanks!

Way to go!!! Yeah I can definitly tell I am restricted but I am battling head hunger today but I just kept busy and pushed through it.
-
I know what you mean!! I can barely eat a cup in the morning but at night I can shovel in about 2 cups of food! Your doing really good though!! Keep it up! Do you have a problem with sweets at all?

Whatssup? How is it going? Any updates?

Ginger whats your secret? You and I started at basically the same weight I have lost about 26 pounds now and I am at 6.6cc's in a 10cc band. Are you low carbing it? That's what I am going to try now is to cut out a lot of the carbs because I am losing so slow. Plus I work out with a trainer twice a week. Great job by the way!!! -
Woohoo I am ready!! I have my trainer tonight so that will start it off right :-)
-
Wow! So I had my first PB this morning! Monday I had my 3rd fill and I am currently at 6.6cc's in a 10cc band. I finally have restriction YEAH!! I was super hungry this morning so I decided to get a piece of french toast (should've known better since it took me an hour to get a 1/2 chicken breast down yesterday) and I ate half of a slice and it got stuck! I felt like I was having a heart attack. I kept trying to burp it up (thats helped in the past with slight stuckage) and then I started to slime. I went into the bathroom and it just came up. I thought it would be more like throw up and it wasnt..... My friend who had the band said to go back to liquids for your first meal in order to give it a rest. I am glad I know what it feels like though. Saying goodbye to bread-------->

Oh Angie... I know what you mean: think I am sabotaging myself as well and I dont know how to get out of the rut....I have restriction 6.6ccs in a 10 cc band. I dont know I guess I thought this tool would've been easier....I think in mind before surgery I was going to change all my habits and lost a ton of weight. I was going to be down 4 dress sizes by summer and people were going to notice a differance in me. Things I have changed: Working out at least 2 days a week hard core Eating less Not drinking with meals Eating somewhat better......still crave the Cookies though Drinking more Water and milk Things I still need to change Exercising 5 days a week consistently Waking up earlier in the morning (so I can get home earlier and make it to the gym) Eating healthy consistently (what does that mean....organizing my meals? I dont know) Thinking positively and not put myself down Stop making excuses!!! I am happy that I have lost 25 pounds and a dress size but I know that I am not doing everything I can and its making me feel depressed.
-
UGH!! I just PB again! This time I was eating some chicken and soup! I think I just ate too fast. Its like learning to re-eat again. I feel like its been so long since surgery that you forget what it is like.
-
HI Suzanne, I am sorry to hear what happened. I hope everything is ok with your port and you can start the process of getting filled. It took me 3 (aggressive) fills before I finally felt restriction and believe me it sucked the whole way but I ended up getting a personal trainer and that has helped me lose weight. Good luck!!

I was able to do 10 full push ups!!!

Ihad my first training session on Thursday and my legs are still sore I can barely walk up the stairs!! Does anyone know how to take the pain away besides tylenol? Should I keep stretching them out?
-
My legs still hurt but I went to my training session last night and suprisingly they were fine. I did this amazing move where you put your body into a bridge using your toes and a step. Who would of thought a 263 pound women could do that LOL!! I spent 2 hours at the gym last night! First I had my workout with my trainer then I went swimming and sat in the hot tub with my husband! No more 4 hours of TV for me :-) Thanks for everyones comments and suggestions!
-
Hi! Thanks for the help! I have been trying to stretch them out but I might try some ibuphrophen sp? Just to relieve some of the pain I'm going to a bachelorette party tonight and I don't want to be waddling around

Ok....so last week was a bad week for me. I ate horrible high fat/sugar foods and I lost weight this week!!! I have been really good this week and I got on the scale and lost 2 pounds!! How does that happen? Has anyone noticed this?
-
LOL I completely agree!!! My nutritionist appts are so lame. Oh did you know that eating grilled chicken is better than eating fried???:tongue2: DUH!!!! We are fat not stupid!!! They should have mandatory counseling sessions that you talk about the real reason you eat 5 donuts!
-
HI Mickey! Congratulations to making your decision!! It all depends on what insurance company have because some of them have certain requirements. My total time was about 4 months from start to finish. Where are you at in the process? Good Luck!!

I wish my DH would hold me more accountable. I know he is proud of me but he never really asks me about what I am eating or encourages me to exercise. I know it should come from me but I would like more support. Yes, I have talked with him about it but he sees it as it needs to come from me not him.

Hi Krista, I am in the same boat as you. I have been so frustrated with my weight loss and no restriction. I see on the boards people are only eating a cup of food and they are starving after 2 hours but they won't eat anything because you are supposed to wait until 4. I think that is bull because if you are truly hungry then have a tblspn of PB or an egg just to fill you up. If I wanted to be anorexic I wouldn't of gotten the band. I have had one fill so far and I felt somewhat restricted for the first week or two but now I am back to eating normal again. It is very frustrating but at the same time I know I am eating less than what I was before. I am glad I have the band and I know it will work eventually. I just have to keep reminding myself that it will work and it is a tool not a lifestyle change. Good Luck and keep going! You can do it!

Return to Work/School
Megmarie21 replied to SMSMOM2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Jan. 2 and went back to work on the 16th. I am so glad I took that time off because when your eating only 300 calories a day initially you are exhausted!!! Also, if you have not been banded yet check with your HR and see if you company offers short term medical disability or FMLA??? Becuase mine was covered under that I recieved 100% pay GOOD LUCK! -
I am frustrated yet confused........... I am currently 3 1/2 weeks post-op and I have no restriction so I have been eating things I probably shouldn't be eationg. Today I had a bagel and cream cheese for Breakfast. Lunch-baked salmon and grilled aspargus. 3 pm-A Cookie and some milk!!!!!!! I feel like a child because I will crave something and then I will make an excuse just to eat it. I understand that I haven't had a fill yet but it's still frustrating. :rolleyes2:
