Starting my pre op friday 5-23
Jenuine629 replied to momheartsdad's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started my pre op diet yesterday. My surgeon has me on two slim fast shakes a day and one protein veggie meal a day. A small snack of yogurt or fruit is allowed. Yesterday wasn't so bad, but today I'm starving!!! I'm trying to drink a lot of water to help curtail this. I'm in the diet for two weeks prior to surgery. I hope it goes by quick. Good luck to you. -
I'm not having trouble with the diet during the day BUT when I get home from work is when the hunger sets in.... A friend of mine who went through the pre op process with me had her surgery on April 18, and she has lost a total of 47 pounds...which includes her pre op weight loss. Pretty amazing huh? I'm the same way. Day 2 of pre op diet and I'm hungry!!!!!! It's totally head hunger because I've had nothing really to do today. Hopefully it will get better. I can't believe surgery is in less than two weeks....nervous

Is that allowed in the post op phase for protein benefit in a smoothie? Can it be digested? Curious...

Can someone tell me...since I'm fairly new to all of this, what pb2 is?

I'm glad to hear to are doing ok. This is just a rough patch. Take it slow and steady. This will be a distant memory soon and life will return to somewhat normal. (I'll need his pep talk in a month or so). Xoxo -
Super nervous!!! I haven't started protein or vitamins yet. Meet with surgeon tomorrow. That's one of many questions I plan to ask

Good afternoon all...my surgery was approved for June 4th. Tomorrow I am going to the surgeon to have paper work filled out for work and to discuss surgery and answer my questions. I have a list going, but wanted to ask if you guys had or knew of questions I should ask that I hadn't thought of as of yet. Thanks for the help,

Good luck! I'm also a nurse too...nervous about the pre-op diet ten days before and working 12 hour shifts! I'll be following you to see how you are doing. I hope it's a speedy recovery. You can do this...we all can!! -

I also was approved today! It's such a huge relief and know that I can (we can) now be on the road to happier and healthier new lives!!! Congrats to us! Cheers! My surgery is June 4! -
I got my approval today and my date has been scheduled for June 4....I understand how you feel!! It's real now!!! But we can do it, get through, and be healthy!
-
Congrats!! You can do it! This will be a distant memory in the near future and so worth it in the end!

I havent had my surgery yet....but my understanding of that was not drink with your meal. So if you soup was your meal, say lunch...you cant have Water or juice with it. You drink your water before or after....does that make sense?

Finally after weeks of going back and forth with doctors office and insurance company, everything was submitted today. Now the nail biting begins. I hope it's approved. Prayers and good vibes requested. Definitely need this surgery! Thank you for the support Xoxo

Hi everyone....I'm new here and have a question. I finally decided to do gastric sleeve back in January. Began getting my ducks in a row by seeing primary doc, nutritionist, and psych eval. (Like GI surgeon recommended at my initial visit back in 2013 --- I had waited a bit because I wasn't sure if I wanted sleeve or not). Early march I see GI surgeon again, sends me for endo. Unfortunately, my primary had only four years of documented weights. Per surgeon I needed five. So from various mds and offices, I finally tracked down 5 years worth of documented weights. Sent those records off to surgeon this week. Got an email tonight saying that she won't apply to insurance company until I have six months of documented weights and plan of diet/exercise plan (can be back dated) from primary md. Problem is that I don't have six months of past records or weights. I'm fairly healthy and primary md only weighs me at my physical which was last July. My surgery now is scheduled for June 4...but if I need six months of a plan, I won't be able to do it until October. Why didn't the GI office tell me sooner? I'm heart broken and discouraged...almost don't want to go ahead now with the surgery. I feel let down. I did so much work and would have done this sooner. Any suggestions? Anyone have this issue? Thanks for reading
