It depends on the doctor. My doctor said 2 weeks. But I have seen some on here from two days up to two weeks. Just depends on the doctor.

Hey Prrite... I am on my 7th day of the liquids. I am allowed a very little bit of "greens". I have been having a little broccoli and arugula. About every other day, just a bit. Just think...this time next week - it will be over and we will have been given a DO-OVER! Best of luck to you!

Tomorrow is the big day!

Good luck ALL. I am right behind you guys (next Monday). I wish you all the best! See all you losers later :-) -
Stacyann.. Don't worry about the catheter. I don't think they do it when you are awake, if they do it at all. No undue stress is needed. REST your mind :-)

Surgery Date Aug. 4 - Day 1 of liquid diet!
Dawnakers replied to *Shelly*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't added up my calories yet. I should though. I have to loose 15 lbs by surgery day (21st). IF my scale is correct I am down 12 lbs. I am not sure . A new scale has been ordered and should be here tomorrow...Lord I hope it's correct! I find that it is hard to get all my liquids in, I try adding lemon or lime juice to my Water and sf ice tea, to change things up. It helps a little. Good luck all! -
Surgery Date Aug. 4 - Day 1 of liquid diet!
Dawnakers replied to *Shelly*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations Shelley. I am on my 7th day of the "diet", my surgery is July 21st. My first day I thought was pretty good, however..... The second, third and fourth day were miserable FOR ME. I woke up with a three day headache that gradually went away. My surgeon said my body was detoxing. I believe that to be true. I am now SICK of the Protein shakes, I am at the point where I gag when I drink them. I find that if I add instant coffee (about 1-2 tbsp) in it, I can tolerate it. I was extremely emotional and yes I actually cried over never being able to have a Whopper again! IT DOES GET BETTER. I am feeling much better. The sight of food doesn't bother me (family are, as I write this eating steak and onions). It smells FABULOUS, but my health means so much more and now I am over the hump! I KNOW I can do this! Good luck to you - use this site ..it has been very helpful for me. See you on the losers bench! -
Yes Ma'am...that we will. One week from today can you believe it?? I am so nervous...BUT excited!
-
Yes..it is.... so READY!

Hey Stacyann, I had to do TWO weeks! I am on my 6th day. Everybody said the first few days were the hardest ... THAT IS THE TRUTH! I am MUCH better now. I have to remember to get my four Protein shakes in every day. I am now at the point that I am SICK of the sweetness. I want spicy/savory. I did try the unjury chicken Soup which was GREAT (especially with some hot pepper flakes) the nutritionist gave me a couple of samples. I wish I had more. Going to have some broth tonight. All in all it is hard! But no one said this process as going to be easy. I find I always try to have Water (with lime or lemon juice) or iced tea (unsweetened with lemon or lime juice) with me ALWAYS! Drinking tends to help me. Best of luck to you ... can't wait until the 21st!!!

Hey Mel.... Ugh....Yes I am on THAT diet! And I am miserable! I am so emotional (more so than usual). The second day I actually CRIED because I would never again eat a Whopper with cheese....yes ..yes I did! On the bright side I only have 9 days left until my surgery. That means nine days plus two weeks more until I can have thicker liquid. Oh joy! I know ALL about the food funeral. Only I think mine last a few months. The night prior to beginning my liquid diet I ate and ate and ate. Steak, fried potatoes, nachos, ice creams, DR PEPPER (NOT DIET)!! Yup I totally enjoyed myself. No wonder I am fat! I am about 30 minutes to the hospital. Not too bad. As long as I don't have an emergency ...I am good. But I do have a local hospital around the corner (they do not do these surgeries there). Bringing a fan is a great idea. I am always hot and have a small fan - thanks for the tip. I have to meet with my surgeon a few days after the surgery...then I think like a week after that. Then I have a group meeting with my nutritionist along with other patients who have recently had the surgery. I have been trying to remain positive and started a private Pinterest page for myself (thanks to my daughter - her idea). I post all sorts of clothes that are cute and I WANT to fit into as well as before and after pics of people that are an inspiration. It helps me when I feel down or get nervous ...I go there and look and pin more ideas. It has actually help to keep me focused and keeps me on the right track. I am sure everything for us will be fine.... I am sending POSITIVE vibes out to you. We WILL do great! YAY US!!!

Hey Just Mel.... Omg.. I am on my two week pre-op and the beginning was HELL! I am on my 6th day and it has gotten significantly easier. I am VERY emotional, have at times, bad head hunger and I get really cranky - fast. I try and have 4 Protein shakes a day...sometimes I can only manage 3...but I try! What am I bringing to the hospital? My mother bought me a new house-coat for the hospital (all I have are big fuzzy ones- too hot), my iPhone and charger, not sure if I will bring my tablet as I can do everything on my phone. Probably some socks of my own (I hate theirs), slippers, undies, extra night gown, toothbrush/paste, travel Shampoo/conditioner/soap, COMFORTABLE clothes to go home in, a magazine (or two) - I expect to be mostly sleeping and WALKING a lot! .. I will be in the hospital 3 days and 2 nights. (OH and for the drive home I am having my daughter bring a pillow - to hold against my stomach - for bumps in the road). I am anxious... but excited...mostly READY to start my life again...kind of been just existing. Thoughts of the whole process consume my mind! What are you bringing? How/what are you feeling? Happy to have a pal on here also who shares the same day. YAY US!! Can't wait to be a LOSER!!

-
Christy...yea you will see your surgeon again prior to the surgery. I just saw my surgeon for the second time, he went thru everything ...good and bad.... and I had to sign off on the paperwork. I will see him again July 21st - day of surgery!
-
Haven't tried it... but then again I don't need the munchies, that's how I got in this predicament. :-)

I TOO am having surgery July 21st. I am so excited. The closer I get the more excited I get. I am ready to get this done and over with. Good luck to you....GOOD LUCK TO US!!

I am on my 4th day of 14 days of liquid hell. I just watched my daughter and grandkids eat pizza....oh yeah pizza! I stayed in the living room while they ate but it didn't help. Unfortunately I don't have a concrete bunker to lock myself away :-( I have my allowed 4 Protein shakes along with Water and sf Jello. I am allowed greens without dressing - somehow it just isn't the same. I did manage to down a small package of asparagus....it never tasted so good!

Headache frim hell
Dawnakers replied to Auntie rose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
AuntieRose.... I am literally feeling your pain. I started my liquid diet Monday...woke up Tuesday with a migraine...still had it Wednesday and it is starting to go away today (at least it's bearable). They say the first three days are the hardest....I believe it! This sucks....but it is worth it in the end! -
Don't second guess it. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ...explain this to your doctor, let him know your concerns. There ARE risks involved in ANY surgery, but there are also risks in staying obese.

Head Hunger driving me insane
Dawnakers replied to supremeh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my liver shrinking diet on Monday. Today is my third day. Head hunger is alive and thriving. Thankfully I am allowed to have some greens (spinach, broccoli, kale) which I gratefully ate with lemon last night. I am also allowed sf Jello and sf popsicles. I have to loose 15 lbs by the 18th. Ugh....but I have been very faithful and stuck to the diet......so far :-) -
Please Help! Pre-op Diet...
Dawnakers replied to Dawnakers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Third day. Had a Premiere Protein at 6am. Time for a shake as my tummy is grumbling. I am feeling better and the headache is gone, drinking tons of Water..... I can do this....I can do this.... :-) Thanks for the comments. -
On my second day of my two week pre-op diet. I woke (3:30am) with a headache (migraine). I am miserable. How long does this last? I am getting plenty of Water and Protein... I think I am just CARB detoxing - how long will this last?... Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.
