My surgery is Monday.... I researched and researched all I could about Gastric Bypass. I wanted to go into this fully informed. Knowledge is power. I feel a little bit better knowing what situations might happen and what I can do to help myself if they do. Good luck everyone.

Got the call for surgery time...9am MONDAY.... It's going to be a looong weekend!!!!

My daughter made me the BEST protein SHAKE.... 1/2 cup of 1% MILK... 1/2 ICE CUBE tray 2 scoops of protein powder (I have EAS chocolate) Put ic cubes and milk in blender, blend completely, then add powder - just to mix (a couple of pulses). As I am on my 12th day ...I was getting SICK of the protein "shakes". This way in with the blender make it frosty...and MUCH better.

Yup....me too. I cried when she said I was approved. It's like OK... I get a do-over. Congratulations, it will all be worth it.. ... here is to us being LOSERS!!!

Casey I started my pre-op diet 11 days ago. I had a terrible headache for THREE days. My surgeon said I was detoxing from carbs/sugar/caffeine. Ugh it was awful and I was miserable. I have surgery on Monday and I feel MUCH better. Headache gone, but still get bouts of head hunger. I just had a cup of broth (half Mexican tortilla and half chicken) ...it was WONDERFUL!! Quenched my hunger................for now! Good luck.

On 11 days. Head hunger gone and only 10 lbs down. :-( Doctor wanted me down 15. UGH....FRUSTRATED!

Prrite... Did your doctor tell you that you had a certain amount he wanted you to loose? I was told 15 lbs and I too am on my 10 day and lost 10 lbs... I have my final all weigh-in on Friday, I doubt I will meet the full 15 lbs :-(. Maybe 12?. I have been having my 3 Protein shakes a day, some cooked broccoli or asparagus and broths. Still wish I could loose the full 15. Good luck!

It depends if they consider comorbidities life or death. That could be high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, high BMI OR a host of other things. You should check with your insurance company what THEY consider "life or death". I think insurances now realize that being obese directly correlates to other debilitating diseases. It is easier to "control" the obese aspect rather than the host of illnesses that comes with it. Good luck.

Hey Mel.... Fingers are crossed for you. You are SOOOOO lucky that you have to be on the diet ONLY two days. That's GREAT! I am on my 9th day...UGH! But another day closer to surgery.
