I kept most of the process secret until I was sure I was having surgery and then I shared with my close friends and imediate family. My husband knew from the very beginning. I haven't been public on social media like Facebook because I don't really want to get into a debate with anyone regarding the pros and cons. I've done my due diligence and because of my health conditions, I have to do this. It's not open for discussion. I get further along the road of "I don't care what other people think" every day. You have to do what's best for you. Best of luck on your road to healthy.

Try wrapping your hand or wearing a glove to protect the injury or use a lighter weight and the other hand?

Yeah, that would freak me out too but look at it this way, what they are saying to you are all positive things. -

Protein Supplements, what's good, whats bad?
MommyMeghan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I'm scheduled for my sleeve procedure on July 23rd. I'm trying to have enough supplies stocked up for after but I'm not sure what to buy. The protein shakes are really expensive so I'm afraid to drop $40 on one and find out that it tastes awful. I was also curious if anyone tried adding unflavored or vanilla flavored powder to their yogurt? Is that allowed? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks! -
Yes, that was me :-) Thank you :-) I'm looking forward to meeting you :-)

Has anyone added protein to your crystal light? I'm worried about staying hydrated. -
I hope your first day at Dr. T's went well I was planning on attending the July 12th meeting in East Greenbush, just wanted to be sure it was open to newbies? I'm also requesting to join the facebook group.

As long as it doesn't have suger, it doesn't matter what brand right? Everything getting to this point has been so complicated, I keep thinking I must be missing something. hahahaha -
I understand how frustrating it can be. I have to have multiple procedures done at once so they (St Peter's) had to coordinate the schedules for multiple surgeons. It took them months to finally get a day & of course it's going to be during the family vacation we've planned all year. My kids will be going with their grandparents instead of me & I will be here in surgery. I've been at this for actual years so I'm not giving up now. I've moved to a space of acceptance that this is what it will be. You can try to fight it but you might end up waiting even longer.

Hysterectomy & Sleeve at the same time Questions
MommyMeghan replied to MommyMeghan's topic in The Gals' Room
I have a great husband who is amazing at keeping things under control but we have 3 kids under 10 years old. I've had lots of offers for help and my Mother in Law will be coming to stay for a bit to help. The last I heard they were planning on at least 5 days in the hospital. We'll see. Things change minute to minute lately -

Hysterectomy & Sleeve at the same time Questions
MommyMeghan replied to MommyMeghan's topic in The Gals' Room
I have a separate GYN surgeon doing the hysterectomy. You are right that it's a lot & I'm not sure it's done as a general rule but for me it's necessary. I've had 3 c-sections so I'm guessing it would along those lines for pain, at least the pelvic pain. They think I will be in patient a little longer as well. -
Thanks to everyone for the vitamin advice. I live in Averill Park, having my surgery at St. Peter's w/ Dr. Trivedi. It's really comforting to see so many people on here have good experiences with him. An update on my surgery. I got a call from Hematology that they are finally clearing me and I got confirmation that I am good to go for having my sleeve and hysterectomy at the same time. Both surgeons are on board and they are just trying to coordinate a day. The suspense is killing me! hahaha This has been such a long journey I'm just looking forward to getting it done and getting on the road to Healthyville! Has anyone else in this group had multiple procedures? If so, how was the recovery?
-
That helps a lot. Thank you! What multivitamin do you use? I'm having trouble finding the sublingual B vitamin. Sorry for all the questions. Just didn't realize how much I still need to do
-
Yeah, Dr. Trivedi's said he had to respect me for not giving up :-). I ordered a variety pack of the Syntrax? Brand? (Spelling) I have started weaning myself off caffeine too. Trying to make myself get all the fluid. This is the hardest thing I have ever done.

OK, so I haven't posted a lot of stuff on here. I have been going through the processes for 2 years. Yes that means 2 years with Dr. Lemanski Haha. I originally started looking into gastric bypass because I was feeling awful all the time & all the Dr could tell me was to lose weight. Easier said then done. 2 years later they have actually found 2 rare genetic conditions & a reproductive issue. The short version is that this is no longer something I could change my mind about. They are doing a gastric sleeve to preserve my GI functions & a hysterectomy at the same time. I'm facing surgery in a few weeks once they get a separate bleeding issue treated. I'm wondering what advice any of you can offer to prepare?
-
I have BCBS Federal. They are giving me all kinds of grief.
-
Hi everyone, did anyone have a really hard time getting approved by the insurance?
-
Hi, I'm new to the forum. Been going through the process for a really long time but it is starting to look like I may get a date soon. Who here has had Dr. Trivedi? Does anyone know if he will do a hysterectomy at the same time as a sleeve?

TMI alert possible complication for surgery
MommyMeghan replied to marymary1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I haven't been on here long but wanted to say you're not alone. I am having similar issues & now my GYN wants to do a partial hysterectomy at the same time as the sleeve. My surgeon has reservations about doing it together. I can't even get a date yet because they are all arguing about how they want it done. I've been trying to go for this for TWO YEARS and now this. You are in my prayers. I hope it works out for you.
