I refuse to "diet." In my mindset, it's a prevention of eating too much and losing weight. I eat what I want, but very healthy stuff. Except when I want some candy, but I eat that too if I want some! Hmphf!

*sigh* I guess I need to do some whinning.

My friend had that same issue. She ended up with the insurance advocate that is provided when they won't pay for it. It took a couple of months, but the advocate came through and she had it done. -

I "forced" my PCP to let me get the lapband only to have the lapband surgeon decide against it at the last minute due to having had a stroke the previous year. I ended up having a hysterectomy 6 weeks after my cancelled lapband. At my post-op visit and after reading the surgeons report, seemed to me if I could handle a hysterectomy, what's a little ol' lapband going to harm? My OB/GYN told me to bring the surgery report from the hysterectomy to my lapband doctor and lo and behold, he ended up approving it. He sent the report to my PCP; I'll get my PCP's reaction on the 28th. My PCP wasn't sad at the time that the lapband surgeon refused to do it. *grin* -

What do you tell people at work
Susan Charmain replied to ghostbuster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tell everyone who will listen...LOL. As far as how much I lost, it wasn't as much as I thought at my first fill, but I was getting compliments long before that. Good enough for me! My friend on the other hand is keeping it a huge secret and I have to be careful to not include her in my conversations when she's around. I don't understand the secrecy, but I respect her for it regardless. -
I hope the weight loss helps to dry up my otherwise terribly oily skin. Is that why such a greasy face? All the crap I used to eat?

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Susan Charmain replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat what I want about 25% of what I used to eat. I enjoy food way too much to deny myself of all pleasures. My body hasn't told me what it won't digest yet. Oh..and I don't exercise either. I figure right when my body tells me what I can't eat, I'll probably have time to exercise then. *grin* -
Question for people banded for over a year

OK I thought I'd get a clue reading the forum. What is a sweet spot and exactly what is restriction. In layman's terms, please? -

I can barely drink carbonated anything. -
I do know I won't be buying a scale for my home; I've decided to just find out my weight when I see the doctor.

Despite my not wanting to know what I lost before my first fill, the doctor blurted it out before I could stop him. Turns out I only lost FIVE pounds! Boy, were my feelings hurt. I guess that was low even to him so he gave me 5 cc's of saline. I asked if that was the norm; he said "sometimes." A minute later I thought saline was going to spurt from my ears---I was so filled. He had to go back and remove 1 cc. I go back on October 1, in three weeks, for another fill.

I don't want to know how much I've lost
Susan Charmain posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
because I don't want to stress myself on how much I've lost or not lost. I will be leaving it up to the doctor to determine what my needs are based on the information I give him; i.e., fills, etc. Does anyone else feel that way? -
Help! I am gaining weight
Susan Charmain replied to Susan70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does anyone think my not wanting to know how much I'm losing weird? I want just the doctor to know and act accordingly. I don't want to stress over what I've lost or haven't lost. I'm going for my first fill this Monday. Is this unusual for someone to feel this way? -
some days i eat to much
Susan Charmain replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with snacking as long as it's healthy stuff. -

Is there a thread regarding not wanting to know how much I weigh...just going with the flow? I'm getting my first fill; I don't want to know how much I've lost. -
Sorry...scratch that. I forgot who the originator is. I can understand what she means. I eat everything, just not as much. I can't wait for my fills.

I eat like a horse?

I'll be honest--I smoke. I simply told them that I quit...like I told them I switched to decaf coffee; made up menus that didn't exist. Basically told them what they wanted to hear. The insurance company gave me 8 visits and the guy was trying to soak us for all 8. I finally got smart and told him what he wanted to hear after being jerked around. The 8 appts he thought he'd get turned into 5, because I told him I've done everything he asked and I won't be returning. He signed off on me and sent a positive report the next day.

Sleep Apnea & Anesthesia

I was told to bring my CPAP and it doesn't look like it was used during the surgery. I used it during my overnight stay. -
I am still hungry!
Susan Charmain replied to luvelmo215's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll be honest. I was eating food after 4 days and I eat what I want now...just not that much. I'm a muncher, but I make sure it's something healthy. So far there isn't anything that I can't eat. -
They're recommending a fill after only 2 weeks? Here at the Pioneer Valley Surgical in Springfield, MA it's post op...6 weeks. I have mine done on July 26 and my first fill is scheduled Monday, Sept. 10.
