Susan Charmain replied to Beverly1010's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
soft foods is fine with me for 48 hours. -
Why's my band tighter at different times?
Susan Charmain replied to chubster808's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I noticed that I am tight in the mornings as well. I just got another 2 ccs in my 10 VG band and can barely eat anything. -
There is no way I could live on 1/4 cup of food. My hair would definitely fall out and I would PASS out from hunger. I hope I'll always need much more than a 1/4 cup of food to sustain me.

Is it possible they missed the port?
Susan Charmain replied to JenRN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have Dr. Fiallo as well and am going in for my third fill. I'm still able to eat everything; hopefully, I'll start to feel restriction. It should be 2 cc's if all goes well. -
Looking for Fill Doc in Northern Cal

Holy Sh*t! $575 for a fill? Why do folks need fill centers in the first place. Just wondering... -

What does the liver have to do with the lapband? I've never heard of that. -
Has anyone who prev had a stroke have the surgery?
Susan Charmain replied to leoyne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a stroke in April 2006. I started the lapband beginnings on July 2006. The following April I was supposed to get the lapband only to be told by my surgeon he wouldn't take the risk based on the prior NOVEMBER letter my neurosurgeon wrote, but he never saw until the night before the surgery. Imagine my disappointment! Meanwhile, the day of the cancelled surgery, I started exhibiting what I thought was "I'm so pissed off" pain in my back. Turned out, I needed a hysterectomy and that was done in May 2007. I had 7 weeks to reflect on how I could go thru all of that (I have HBP, sleep apnea and was put on Plavix and aspirin April 2006 due to the stroke). I needed to be taken off the blood thinners to have the hysterectomy. With that being said, I asked the surgeon at my postop OB/GYN appointment (I asked for and received an appointment for the same day) to revisit his decision based on my surgical report. His reply was if I could go thru that major surgery with no problems, I could certainly have the lapband done. I had the lapband done on July 26, 2007. -

I didn't exercise before the band and I won't now. The most I'm hoping for is losing the weight to get off my meds. I'll never be model thin; I like to eat/munch way too much. My new best friend is soynuts...helps my menopause, keeps me in salty stuff (which I love), and it's healthy to boot. -

Banded co-worker eats McDonald's every day
Susan Charmain replied to TulipStar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Touche Enterprise! I'm amazed at how obsessed folks are about food in the first place. I eat everything I want but much less of it and I'm doing just fine. -
You've lost 31 lbs in 10 days? Dr. Fiallo did my surgery as well.

Isn't the VG band 10 cc? Just wondering...my first fill was 4 cc's; second another 2 cc's and next week, he will put in another 2 cc's making it 8 total. I haven't reached my sweet spot and quite frankly, I'm having trouble understanding exactly what that is.

What was the 1st area u lost the most in and was it noticable quickly
Susan Charmain replied to nicolerose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Actually, I'm not worried about the fills and neither is my doctor. He applauds that I am not freaking out about my "only" five pounds. I'd like to lose 60 lbs in a year. -
Mexico, Doctors, and Complications
Susan Charmain replied to TheFox's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What is the reason for going to Mexico for the banding? Does one return there for fills? I never heard about "fill centers" before joining this forum. What are they for? I get my fill at my doctors--who performed my surgery. -
What is a port revision? Oh and I haven't had any problem with any food thus far. Going for my third fill next week.

I've lost 5 lbs; one clothing size and 2 underwear sizes. I guess a little 5 lbs made that much of a difference. I was banded 7/26; first fill 3 weeks later; second fill 3 weeks after that. Going for my third fill next week. No restriction yet however. -

do I really need a C-PAP machine?
Susan Charmain replied to arahman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry about getting the C-Pap. You won't need it once you begin losing the weight anyway. I will be coming off of my C-Pap soon along with the meds. -
Why can't I do this alone???
Susan Charmain replied to angelsoul's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have no idea why you would need to bring anyone with you.
