Hi StrawberryPolly, I'm from Mississippi. I had my sleeve done on April 15th, by Dr. Avera in Pascagoula. How is everything going for you?

I'm in my 5th week also and on my 2nd day of feeling the same way. I just feel like I have a qweezy stomach. Every time I think of eating or drinking anything it makes me feel sick. Maybe its part of the healing process that our body does. I hope it goes away soon!!! Kristi

I have BCBS MS for state and school employees so I'm thinking that its not that different. When I had my sleeve last month the BMI requirement was 40 and above and you must have been there for at least 2 years. There was a thing about you could be 35 BMI if you had 2 chronic co-morbiturates. The surgery center that I had my sleeve done at knew all the requirements that was needed for my insurance. If you have found someone to do your surgery you may want to call their insurance dept. to see if they can tell you. Kristi

My insurance also required me to do the 4 months with the NUT, a psyc elval, upper GI, chest xray, ekg, and blood work. I was right at the allowed BMI by my insurance so I was told not to lose any weight or my insurance would not cover me so I've been on a 90 day maintance diet. I went for my last visit to the NUT Friday and everything was submitted to my insurance yesterday. I have a pre op visit with my surgen on Thursday and a pre op appointment at the hospital on Friday. My surgery is sceduled for the following Tuesday, April 15th. The insurance lady at the surgens office told me to come on to the visit on Thursday unless I hear from her before. I AM A NERVIOUS RECK!!! This waiting on approval from the insurance is killing me!!! They tell me at the surgens office not to stress out over it that everything looks good and they see no reason why I shouldn't be approved. So just do what they tell you at the WLC. They do this everyday and know what needs to be done for each insurance company to approve someone. Good Luck!!!!

Mine was also submitted Friday!! The waiting is tourture! I don't think I've slept since they submitted it!!! I've also done everything that the insurance requires me to do, but with my luck I'm just waiting for that phone call saying I'm denied....I know I shouldn't think negative but I think its better if I don't get my hopes up to much so if it is denied it won't upset me so much. I'm having my sleeve April 15th by Dr. Avara in Ocean Springs. Where and when are you having yours done?

I know this is an old post but I am using Dr. Avara also. I have a surgery date of April 15th. I only have one more visit with the NUT next friday and I see Dr. Avara for my last appointment before my surgery on April 10th. I have done every thing the office says I need to do with my insurance but they will not submit it until after next Friday. I'm nervous about getting approved. I guess its just because insurance companies can be so difficuld some times. Have you had your surgery yet? Any suggestions or advice????

I can so relate to the negative comments about your decision toa have the surgery. I have also only told a hand full of people about it. I have lots of support from my parents and siblings, they know the struggle I have had with my weight and the health problems that it has caused. The main person that I need the suppport from is not giving it to me. My boyfriend. He doesn't want me to have it. He says he loves me just the way that I am, but he does not understand how it feels to live in this body. I go to my appointments alone and do not even mention to him what they are and what I have to do. I feel so alone most of the time. It doesn't make me second guess my decision to do it, I know its the right one, but I dont unstand why he feels the way he does. He told me the other night that if I got this done there was going to be complications between us and when I asked him if he was going to the hospital with me when I have it done he said he was backed up at work and didn't know if he would be able to take off. I love him with all my heart but I don't know how much more I can take of his remarks. Stay strong.....were behind you every step of the way!!!!

I was told about the lap band also. I thought that the sleeve sounded better for me too.....

I go to have my upper GI done, EKG, and my blood work on the 31st. Then I have one more appointment with the nutritionist on April 4th. I see my surgon on April 10th and then is just a waiting game until the 15th!!! I've been on this journey since Nov. 2013 and it seems like its taking forever!!!!

My surgery is sceduled for 4-15 and it seems like it will never get here!!!!!
