any bandsters in Little Rock, AR?

Jacki, I can certainly see why you'd be frustrated. First of all, I do believe that the requirements to have a psych exam and the 6 months of medically supervised diets are usually an insurance requirement, and not necessarily a doctor's requirement (though some dr's may require it). On October 4, I had surgery with Dr. Rex Luttrell, and I was absolutely amazed at how easy everything was. Not to mention, Dr. Luttrell is awesome and has fabulous bedsider manner. I would recommend to anyone, anytime. I just had a followup today with him and he was very attentive and concerned about me, though I haven't had any problems at all. I was self-pay, so from the time I went to a seminar, decided that I wanted to do it, and had my first consultation with him, it only took one month. I believe that when you go the insurance pay route, it tends to take a bit longer, based on their requirements. If I can answer any other questions for you, please feel free to send me a private (or public) message and I'll be glad to help! Ashley
  3. 10 days here. We didn't have any problems, and I didn't have any pain/discomfort. Go for it! :Banane35:

    I...cheated.

It's crazy to me how different doctors are in their recommendations for food. My doctor recommended Clear Liquids for 4 days post-op and then full liquids for 2 days, followed by "soft foods", I guess mushies until I see him in a week. So, within 2 weeks, I'll be on soft foods, while some people are still on clear liquids. It's crazy! I've stretched out my phase 2 and plan to do full liquids for a few days longer, but I'm anxious to keep on to mushies stage. Good luck!

any bandsters in Little Rock, AR?

Hey Arkansans- My name is Ashley and I was banded on 10/4/07 by Dr. Rex Luttrell. Aside from the expected port soreness and gas pain, I'm doing pretty good. Surgery was on Thursday and it's Monday--I'm back at work! Good luck to all of you!
  6. I was banded on Thursday, 10/4 and came back to work today, Monday, 10/8. I am still a bit sore, but sitting around the house was doing me NO good. I have a desk job, so I'm able to get up and walk around about once an hour. Sipping on broth right now and feeling glad I decided to come in.

    Banded??? Check in here

Just banded yesterday, and boy, I'm glad my mom is here to help. I don't think my husband would be patient enough to take care of me. Slept on the couch last night, and probably will tonight too. Once I find the comfortable position, it's very easy to sleep. I have doing a lot of walking around--although slow walking, it really helps with gas pains. I'll stay in touch- Ashley

    Surgery in 4 hours

Just getting around to posting, but I'm doing okay. Pretty significant soreness where the port is, and I'm experiencing the gas pains that everyone wanred me of. Walking definitely helps. I'm putting pain meds to good use, and have been eating broth, Jello, and popsicles. Good luck to all of you! Ashley

    Surgery in 4 hours

My eyes popped open at 4:00 and I struggled to get back to sleep for my nerves. I finally fell asleep at 4:20 and re-awoke at 6:00 and figured this board is the only thing that can calm my nerves right now. My surgery is at 10:30, my parents are on their way to my house, I had "the last supper" last night--a tremendous steak. I've got the broth, juice, Jello, gas-ex, MOM, you name it-I have it. I'm SO ready for this surgery, but I"m so very nervous right now, I'm afraid I'm going to make myself puke! Thanks to all of you for your inspiration and kind words. I'll try and check in this afternoon or tomorrow. Take care- Ashley

    We are the TENaciousTENS!

Hey everyone- My name is Ashley and I'm in/from Arkansas. I've been lurking on these boards for over 3-4 months and am finally having my surgery this Thursday. Am very nervous, but even more excited. Have been on protein shakes/sensible meal (at night) and am ready for surgery day. My surgery will be performed by Dr. Rex Luttrell in Little Rock, which is where I live. I'm very fortunate that my husband and my family have all been very supportive emotionally and financially in what I'm doing, and I am so grateful for them. I will certainly be posting often here, starting today. I look forward to sharing experiences with everyone. Good luck to all! Ash
