I am 55 years old and I can remember when my endocrinologist suggested that I would be a good candidate for bariatric surgery four years ago, I was furious. I almost looked for another doctor. I joined Weight Watchers again (probably for the 10th time) and lost some weight, but then regained most of it. I found a nutritionist but I found her to be very extreme - she put me on a gluten-free diet - I lost some weight but gained it back. I got really discouraged. In October of last year, I went on vacation and felt so uncomfortable walking around and HATED how I looked in photographs. I came back and had my annual appointment with my endocrinologist. We had a very serious conversation and I decided to have the surgery. I spent the last six months preparing for the surgery and it's here - my surgery is tomorrow - 5/28/14! I'm excited and very scared at the same time. I'm sure my story is not that different from most of you on this site. I hope I can be successful. I'm really learning a lot from some of your posts - thank you.
