I need support from you guys more than ever... Last week I went in to get a fill and they had this stupid "nurse in training" stab me in the port too hard and waaaaay too far in. I thought nothing of it until I relaized that I have ZERO restriction all the sudden. I think that stupid nurse stabbed the side of my port causing a leak. I just finished crying for the last hour and plan to see my dr Wednesday to find out if it's really true. God please just let it be my imagination...I cannot live without my band. I CANNOT stand this torture of not knowing. Is this fixable? Or am I just screwed now? Please help me you guys, I don't want to cry about this anymore. :cry :cry

I think my port is leaking...please help
HamuChan replied to HamuChan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow you guys made me feel soooooooooooooo much better. I'm not sweating this anymore. Thanks GeezerSue for letting me know that this is something that can be fixed. WHEW!!! I was afraid EVERYTHING would have to be replaced. Sigh of relief!!! But I am still SO mad that the stupid fill center allowed the nurse to "train" while giving me a fill. It hurts when they stab you waaaaay too far in! MAD at The Surgery Center in Richardson Fill Center. I have never had a problem with them before this. They were like, "Ok now numb her first...ok good now stab the needle in...oh wait stop stop stop that's too far.! Oh no, now you're stuck in the side of the port let me yank that out of there. OOOps! There we go!" Ahhhhh! -
I am so happy to say that my band has been a great success for me! I am completely adjusted to it. This last year has been one of the best of my life! :bounce: From size 26 to size 16...so far. I am so happy that I made this decision to change my life. Thank you band!! Success!!!

I am about a year out from getting my surgery and I think something is wrong. I am on the verge of throwing up every minute bc I am so nauseous. I've been like this for a week. What can cause HORRIBLE nausea like this? I havn't noticed any other symptoms, no pain, no heartburn, no weird restriction. I would say it's a stomach virus, but for 7 days? That's a little long. Anybosy ever heard of this? Please help! :help:

Called my Dr. I'm going in on Monday...I'm scared it's going to bad news. Is this a sign of erosion?

The biggest reason why I'm glad I got a band rather than RNY
HamuChan replied to vluckey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My big reason for choosing the band....my sister was in the hospital for 2 months after her RNY and nearly died, very severe complications. Now all her weight is coming back on, I feel so bad for her. She feels so hopeless. Thank God the lap-band was invented. It is the BEST option for me. -
Those of you who are banded, do you exercise?
HamuChan replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have never exercised throughout all of this. I should though, I would probably finally hit goal. I'm not a good lap-band example! -
Am I just fooling myself, not sure I can do this
HamuChan replied to hay4943's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had NO willpower at the start... At first when I got the band it was such a struggle and I missed junk food and large portions soooo much. I just wanted a cheeseburger or something. Over time my mind has been trained to eat smaller portions and to do things a certain way. The 1st 6 months was tough but I'm so used to it now it's great. Best decision I have ever made in my life. I am not suffering, and I never really had any willpower. But, it isn't for everyone. You can't stuff yourself, but you won't want to because it hurts to get too full! Good luck! -

Dr Jay!! My mom works as an RN at the Surgery Center of Richardson and was in the operating room with him on a regular basis. She says that he is EXCELLENT. In fact, out of all the doctors in DFW she chose Dr Jay for her own band and for mine.

I haven't been on here in a while and unfortuntely there hasn't been too many changes since last post. I am wondering if I'll ever hit my goal bc I haven't lost any weight in like 4 months. Well I have been eating waaaay too much, pushing my band....lucky I haven't had a slip. Here's what I'd like advice in. Has anyone had sharp pain in their left shoulder when either really hungry or really full? I get these pains all the time. Referred pain from my band maybe? Ok, so I am going to start getting on this board all the time again. When I was on here all the time I was losing more weight than ever. I am so proud of my progress but I REALLY want to lose more weight. Plus I am scared that I may gain weight back!! NO MORE JUNK FOOD!!!!!! Help me get back on track!! :help:

I think I will get a fill on my next day off, I want to only be able to eat just a little bit. I hope that getting a fill will not make my shoulder pain worse though. Thanks for all your support! You know what's strange? I have not really made an "effort" this entire time. The band FORCED me to lose my first 60 lbs. Now I have to figure out how to get the last lbs off. I feel guilty that I have not tried more, not exercised or eaten the right stuff. This has to change or I will enevitably fail. I CANNOT fail at this!!!

Why can other people have more than one pic side by side? Mine are only showing as links like you said, but others can show pictures...

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
HamuChan replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
These were taken about 8 months apart. 1st pic is not so flattering but I didn't have too many clothes that fit at the time. Hope I did this post right! CAN SOMEONE HELP ME GET THESE PICS SIDE BY SIDE? THANK YOU!! -
Felt it for the first few months after surgery. No worries, I think it's the port settling in place or something. At first I was SO worried about it but it went away.

I had my second fill yesterday and it swelled me up waaay too tight. I couldn't even get down water! Went today to get an unfill and my dr made me finish a glass of Water in the office to be sure that I could get it down. So I went back home and tried to drink some milk. What a mistake! It irritated my stomach and it swelled shut! Now I can't get water down again! My stomach is notoriously sensitive and has had major problems with swelling shut in the past. Do any of you have any ideas for soothing a swollen tummy so that it calms down and let's me drink? Thank you!!

Here's what I'm having issues with... Golden rules say 3 meals a day, no Snacks, no calorie drinks. Each meal you may get down 1/2 cup of food bc of the size of your average pouch tummy. The next rule conflicts with the others..... You need approx 1200 calories per day. So on average you need to fit 400 calories into 1/2 cup. You would have to be eating some pretty high calories foods to fit in that many calories. 1/2 cup of pure sugar has only 385 calories, so even if you ate only pure sugar you wouldn't have enough calories. What can you fit into 1/2 cup that is healthy and will get you enough calories? Maybe I'm missing something big time. I know that I am miscalculating somewhere or I don't know enough. When I follow the rules I may get down 700 calories. Waaaay to little. Help! What am I doing wrong?? Thank you!!

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
HamuChan replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Had it BAD before surgery. My surgeon fixed a hietal hernia so that made it completely go away. I feel very lucky bc I suffered everyday for 10 years with this problem previously. I used to lay up all night in pain. I am so glad that is over. -
My mom has a lap band also and is having super bad problems with burping. Everytime she eats or drinking anything she burps nonstop. Not just little annoying burps, but so much that it makes her nausiated. And the burps don't sound like regular burps...they're more like just air coming up without the noise. She is getting extremely irritated with it and doesn't know what to do. Have any of you had this problem? If so how did you overcome it? Thanks!

Thanks for the input! I was reading online what causes it and my mom does all those things! I bet that's what it is...

So I can't figure out if I need to get an unfill. Here's how my day is... When I first wake up, no solids at all, not even yogurt. OJ, milk, or Water only. lunch, 5 hours later...mushies only. Soup, mashed potatoes, yogurt etc... dinner, 5 hours later...anything, if I chew it well. meat, veggies, fruit, you name it! I am losing about 2 lbs a week right now, the perfect amount. It's irritating that I can't eat solids until evening but I LOVE being restricted. But I don't want to be excessively tight either. Oh also...no reflux whatsoever thank the Lord!! Thanks guys!!

Oreo cookies with spray cheese on top!! It's good, really!Peanut butter and maple syrup sandwich! Yummmmmm! I miss those.

1. I now pay close attention to every single bite. If not, I don't chew enough or I eat too fast. It helps me keep tabs on what goes down. 2. I want to eat good food because my stomach can hold so little. If I eat junk all day then it'll hurt my body more than I ever did in the past.

Video games, gardening, and LBT of course!
