Hi Jo - In Australia...after the op, we are allowed only liquids for the first 2 weeks, then mushies for next 2 weeks - as I have been told this is the time the body takes to adapt to the band, and sort of attach itself in the right place....if that makes sense..........becareful you are not moving on too fast - good luck - K

benson - I hear your pain luvie, you should try to engage in more cuddles with hubby, he probably feels very rejected, and loves you for whats on the inside - he will be happy you are doing something to help yourself, because he loves you - and wants you to be happy and healthy, and comfortable with who you are.................good luck for November, and even when you are on the pre-op diet, you will have more energy to spend with your daughter and hubby - Go get 'em, and tell 'em you love them........... hugs K -

thanks for sharing JJsmiles - I love that you put so much time and effort into your posts, I get so much from them!!! I hope today finds you well, and improving on every step....hugs K -
honey - everyone is so different, it's really up to you, I wouldn't recommend mush more than 1/2 cup per sitting at a time, until you can guage what's comfortable and what's not..... if you are not hungry, don't eat(sip) anything - you will know when you are ready. Even when you are up and running - my surgeon says 1/2 - 1 cup 3 times a day is enough to sustain your body, just make sure you are also enjoying a good liquid multi vitamin..... cheers K

Ann, I am so glad to hear you are more positive today, and that we have helped to hold your hand through a difficult patch. I was doing great on diet, until end of day 4 (yesterday).... I had lost 2.1kgs..... I think thats about 4 1/2 lbs. So i let myself enjoy a perfectly cooked piece of steak with my salad for dinner....okay not too bad, but then I didn't have any diet jelly prepared, and I was craving for crackers - so I had about 20 rice snack crackers...which on their own wouldn't be so bad..... but of course when I was looking for them, I found an opened packet of Malteasers.....OMG!!! Had a few, and then made myself go upstairs to bed...new day today!!! Will recommit, and I think I will buy a new battery for my scales at home, so I can keep motivated by the loss, rather than think.... if I cheat now, I can make that up before the next weigh in. Isn't that an honest appraisal of my actions..... phew! Anyway - keep chatting - I love it!! hugs K -

Hi Janet - I am so pleased and proud that you stuck to your guns, and asserted yourself regarding having the band!!! woo-hoo!!! Yes - you will lose the first 100lbs relatively text book - because that is what the band is designed to do, but it is still just a tool, and you need to do the hard work!! but look at what you are acheiving now - just with will power...... imagine when your silicone friend is helping you, by saying "no thanks Janet, I've had enough", or saying "no please don't try that white, gluey bread"......... there is absolutely no reason why you cannot carry on the same principles, and get your fills, follow up care...right to goal weight. the doctor is just covering his arse, by saying what the averages are - but honey, you ain't average - you are amazing!!! and you will do this!!! Go Janet - Go Janet - Go Janet....okay I'll put my pom-pom's down now. Now remember my date is 29 October - so we will be closer bandsters now... how cool is that!! hugs K -

Hi homegrl & welcome, I understand your concerns, but seriously you need to weigh the "long term" effects of being overweight, with the long term effects of living a full and healthy life......you are only young now, but trust me when you get to your late thirties, life gets better because you start to know yourself on a deeper level, but your health starts to say.........okay - that's it - I'm starting to run out of puff, here's some sore joints, and here's some aching feet, and here's some racing heartbeats, and take that - there's a enlarged fatty liver!! If you get the band done now - you have a chance of saving yourself from these health issues. Many people have had babies, and kept the band in - just no fill, that way they are still eating nutritious food, cause bub will take it's share first, and let your body have the left overs.... and you know what - it might even prevent you from adding an extra 20 kilo's of not-baby weight, so you can be a happy and healthy mummy!! Go For it - Your children will be happy that you live to see them grow up........ hugs K -
Hi & Welcome Convincer - good job!! hey ladies - not sure if the below posts are genuine or not, some unusual comments on my post..... anyway - good luck to you, I know we will be yakkin a fair bit over the next year or so............... cheers K

Welcome Betty, you have posted some interesting messages tonight. If you have been looking into lapband for some time now, I am suprized you called it "an elastic" in an earlier post. Where are you from? Do you have access to a surgeon, with knowledge of the band? -

dear fat4lyfe, the band can be disconnected from the port, at about a 5 cm interval, therefore if there is a problem with either part, it can be replaced. The band itself is silicone, and as far as my reseach goes, I have never heard of one breaking like you are envisioning. If you are looking into this process, you do need to approach it with a positive attitude. Yes, you should fully research your decision, and check out all options - but for most of us, we are all ready committed to the process, and have enough natural emotions, both up and down to contend with, I hope that your post was not meant to be intentionally negative? please feel free to keep posting, and asking lots of questions - if your questions are genuine... cheers K -

Honey - this will work, it is the only medically proven efficient, safe, adjustable, reversable, way to life long change in body weight. It is proven, and there are a team of professionals to help you every step of the way, and then there's us!!! your cheer squad!!! As my surgeon said - it is normal to doubt yourself, and the process, because we have lived with diet dissappointment forever. The band will reduce hunger, without the hunger, you can control the cravings, and with the band taking control of the quantity, it will work!! We will make it work!!...... keep posting when ever those nasty seeds of doubt appear, and make sure you read every success story possible!! cheers K -
Hi and Welcome - this is a great site to talk, support, share, and get motivation and inspiration....enjoy!! tell us a bit more about you..... where are you from? cheers K

Hey Striver (M).... I think atkins, is good for a short stint, but too hard to apply 24/7 for the next year, it also can be damaging, because it can lead to other complications with liver, kidneys etc............. i have an inflamed liver (and fatty liver disease) which my doctor blames mostly on yo-yo dieting, and is a contributing factor to my decision to change my life on a more permanent basis. Anyway - if we were good at dieting, we wouldn't really need a band???? I would maybe go for something that is not quite so severe, a bit more lifestyle friendly, so that you don't rollercoaster...... maybe Tony Ferguson, weight watchers, Club optislim or just monitor yourself, and make sure you are not gaining during your waiting period. Don't worry about putting added pressure on yourself - trying to acheive major weight loss before your band - enjoy the journey, and keep typing baby!!! hugs K
