  1. darl - thats part of the journey, some have put it in the same catagory as "bandit blues" the down feeling after surgery, because all the excitement of the build up is gone........ it's the same with the food, you need to find some more variety.... I will post something I typed up for myself (I robbed peoples ideas and posts, and then put them on one page) there may be something there for you - but keep one thing as a treat, something you hold off, as a reward for being good all day - something you love!!! the other thing is buy a special little book - maybe with a star or love heart on it, and write down all the things that you WANT NOW - but know you can't have, and promise yourself (get it into your head) that you will be allowed any of those things as soon as you are properly mended............ I bet, when the time comes you don't eat half of them - but the promises in your mind, keep the hands from putting them in your mouth now......... okay will cut and paste the list on next post - good luck, give me some feedback - luv k

they will be able to tell when they go in, the only other way is by ultrasound, but I doubt that will happen before your surgery. They like the liver to shrink a bit to get it out of the way, because they need to get to the top of the stomach, which is basically underneath the liver. If the weight of it is reduced it can alleiviate bruising etc. good luck - K

when you are on the intensive phase diets prior to surgery, the liver is the first place to lose excess fat...... good news hey!! Good luck for everything....cheers K

sure is babe! I am doing okay - as you know started at 5 weeks out (lost 2.5kgs...uummm 5lbs) that week, then took the week off for holiday with my kids, and put most of it back on, but thats ok, cause at least I know it will move now I am re-focused..........3 weeks till B-Day!! I don't have a set amount to lose before surgery, just need to shrink the old huge liver!! sssoooo I can focus on cheering for you - give me a J!! give me an A!!! give me an N!!!! give me a E!!! give me a T!!!! and what does it spell - .......... "40lbs lighter" Yeah - Janet!!!!!.............. he,he,he.......... Go get 'em Tiger!!! hugs K

    We are the TENaciousTENS!

Janet - you WILL lose heaps in the next 2 weeks, so long as you stick to the liquid diet like glue......... and no caffiene, you don't have much leaway, and it will slow you down. Honey - you can do this!!! Stop thinking 40-50 right now - and just focus on 40 - you are half way there!!!! I would back off anything that builds muscle at the moment, and if you want to exercise, then just focus on fat burning zone - brisk walk etc You want me to pick up my pom-poms???? Go Janet! Go Janet! Go Janet! Hugs K
  15. I did look at your profile, and saw that, go for it baby!! think how much you will save on food in the long run, and doctors later on when everything starts to give out........... My hubby works at the mines here in QLD, how hard is it to get fly in/fly out from Brisbane jobs over there????
  16. hey rastis - you lucky bugger, how you feeling now?? all good???? Go on - have a brag...... how are you weighing in?? xxK
  17. * Medicare doesn't cover this and neither does my hospital insurance (I got the basics to get out of the extra Medicare Surcharge), so what is the APPROXIMATE cost? That's the one thing I can't find on the net - they all say make an appointment (which I've done!!) and we'll tell you then, but I want to know NOW (hehe - patience is NOT my strong point). Okay - it will depend on your surgeon, I can only quote mine, and hope that they are close, so you don't have a shock..... all up un-insured approx $12,300.... I have medibank private hospital cover (thats why I have waited the 12 months - before my surgery) it will cost me $4250 instead.... that's a big saving, but if I could have afforded it a year ago, I would have!!! next question.... * Many of the threads talk about a psych evaluation, saying that their insurance is dependent upon this. It seems as though this is only a requirement in the US - do we have a similar thing in Aus?.... again can't quote any other surgeon etc - but I have not needed one. * Several people have talked about having to do a pre-op diet for anywhere from a month to 3 months. If I could stick to a diet without help for a whole 3 months, I wouldn't need the band to help! What's the story behind this - I don't have liver or heart problems, so is it still likely to be necessary?..... I didn't know I had a liver problem either...until an abdomen ultrasound showed a huge inflamed liver, from years of yo-yo dieting, and being overweight....they need to lift and move the liver to access the top of your stomach, so the smaller it is, the easy the surgery will be, and the less chance of internal bruising or problems...... i had to do 4 weeks, can't stand optifast, so I have modified the Tony ferguson program to replicate the calories and nutrients of optifast...... come on, they are all easy questions......give me something tricky....lol!!! I am a lapband info sponge!!! cya K
  18. I am exactly the same, I can't stand waiting....everything has to be done yesterday - hence why I had my appointments and tests done back in February, March & April....... I have done my hospital pre-admission 5 weeks before my surgery date, and seen my aneathestis (spelling???) the same day..... have been ready for this my whole life - just didn't know about it, and didn't admit to myself that the next diet, and the one after that, and the one after that - was not going to work for me............. anyway - best of luck on Thursday, you can also catch me on the Yahoo health board (we have a lap band board) I mostly post on the Bundaberg Bandits thread, and October '07 let's do this together thread...... talk soon, xxK
  19. Well Fanny - I have goosebumps, and tears in my eyes.... 24. Hey Carol - was wondering how your doing...... great loss so far, you gotta be happy!!!! Wow - giving birth to a golf ball...thats gotta be better than 6kgs of baby???? lol......... hugs K
  25. honey not everyone needs plastic surgery after, it will depend on your skin, your body, your rate of loss, your rate of exercise etc.............. I think it's great that you are taking the step to stay alive and get healthy - why not cross the fix-up hurdle when you get there? dont put extra pressure on yourself now - it may never be a problem for you, and that fear may take away your chance at a new you now!!! hugs K
