Dr. says 40 is too young...help

I agree completely with what everyone has said. I had the sleeve right after I turned 45 and wish I had done it earlier. Look for a surgeon who is with a Center of Excellence for WLS. If you can't find one near you, call my doctor's office in Atlanta and they could possibly help locate one for you. I used Dr. Hart at Atlanta Bariatrics. I felt like I was in excellent hands. Dr. Hart doesn't do lap bands much anymore either - that told me that I was making the right choice with the sleeve.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Drinking has been no problem for me. I am 6 days post op. I have been gassy, but had no problems at all with things going down. Just trying to ease your fears a bit!

    6 days post op

Hi all, 6 days post op here. Also had a hernia repair during surgery so I am really sore. This week of liquids has been really rough and I am starving most of the time...I know this sounds weird, but I am. I get in my Protein shakes and most of my fluids, but I am really hungry most of the day. I am hoping I feel more full when I start on soft foods tomorrow. Down 12 lbs. but so worried I'm going to gain when I start eating again.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago...I recovered very quickly and didn't need any pain meds once I got home. It's recovering from anesthesia that takes a while, so you will be doing that anyway with your WLS. Good for you, getting it removed at the same time!
  5. I am turning 45 on Thursday (where does the time go?!) and I'm getting sleeved on Nov. 4...so nervous and I want to chicken out, but I also want the next 45 years to be better than ever.
  6. Surgery date is Nov. 4!! Can I really do this??

I said the same thing as I was laying in the room with the IV in my arm. You can do anything you put your mind to!

Yes, you can... lots of us have and lots of us are SO happy with the decision. It's a little tough at first but when you start seeing results, it's wonderful!

    Newbie here surgery date 11/5

My surgery date is Nov. 4th! Getting really nervous about the big lifestyle change coming. Not sure I'm ready for it. No pre-op diet for me. Just liquids the day before.
  9. I am a photographer with a huge project in June. Hoping to be sleeved in mid-May and worried I won't have enough recovery time! Please let me know how long it took for you to feel like you could go back to work. Thanks!

  12. Hi there, I am about 4 hours north of Savannah. Sounds like we have a similar time frame. I'm hoping for a May surgery date. Just had my endoscopy yesterday.
